I don't know about everyone, but I happen to have a wife and a daughter that just can't stand cold weather. They freeze even when I am breaking a sweat. The Insignia Standing Patio Heater is a perfect way to provide them a little comfort and allow them to enjoy being out on the patio or the pool deck in the early spring or late fall time period. The patio heater comes well packaged and the instructions for assembly are better than many items I have had to assemble. It took nearly an hour to put the Insignia patio heater together, but I was taking my time, hoping to not make mistakes that tend to happen to me when I get in a rush. Assembly wasn't difficult, probably average for any other item of this type. Some of the parts have some sharp edges, so be careful. Be sure to have some sand on hand to add weight to the base. There are anchors included as well, but I think the sand is adequate for most applications. So far my wife and daughter have thoroughly enjoyed using this unit. The heat radiates about 10 feet from the center of the heater, providing a very comfortable temperate zone for those who like it a little warmer. The heater runs on propane and uses an electric igniter powered by AA batteries so starting the heater is as easy as pushing a button. There are safety features included with the unit such as a tip over sensor that will shut the unit down if it happens to fall over. Overall, this unit provides a nice warm area for those who want to spend time outdoors, but still can't deal with the chilly temperatures. This unit is 48,000 BTU and seems to be very efficient as far as fuel usage. My family has really enjoyed this addition to our pool deck.

Perfect addition to any outside gathering area. Easy to assemble, the plastic protective barrier you have to remove is the worse part of assembly. Provides a great warmth to a fairly large are, is out of burn reach for children and takes minimal floor space.

If you want great heat tonight, this patio heater is a great option. But you'd better buy it this morning, I have assembled several similar patio heaters over the years but this one definitely took the longest, First, make sure before you start that you have a bag of sand around to fill the base as there is no built-in weight (it holds about 20 pounds or so in my estimation). The instructions don't mention this until the very last page. If you wait until then it will be next to impossible to get anything into the base, so plan accordingly. Also, because this is a stainless steel heater, many of the parts have a protective plastic coating on them which is next to impossible to remove and only adds to the frustratingly long assembly time. I'm not a huge fan of the nylon security strap that hold the tank in but it works. Once you get it all together, it's not quite as sturdy as I'd like, but so far I haven't had any issues although I haven't moved it around a lot. Now, on to the good stuff! This heater is very good looking and I really like that the tank cover has an almost flat surface so if you are placing a drink on it you don't have to worry about it sliding off. I have two other heaters like this but the Insignia puts out far more heat to a larger radius. I have found myself turning this heater down substantially lower than the others to maintain an even temperature. The added bonus to that is that it uses less propane to get warm temperatures. I'd say the heat radius is well in excess of 15 feet. The electric igniter is a definite upgrade over the normal mechanical "clicker" type starters. A quick touch of the button and this thing fires right up. And quietly. No more annoying clicking trying to get a heater started. Aside from the painful assembly, this patio heater is fantastic. All of my guests who have seen it have raved about the look and heat output. I would definitely recommend it as long as you're willing to spend a couple of hours putting it together.

Fairly easy to assemble, however putting the propane tank in is a little tricky since you have to lift the bottom part up so it requires at least two people unless you're the hulk. You have to stand close to it to really feel the warmth so don't expect to feel it if you are more than 4ft away from it.

Very Large and a Little Clonky

Very large, like almost 7.5 feet? It is very clonky too. It was a good buy but the size and weight of the product was just too much for me and my size home. For a big guy, this is great for outdoor parties.
