Our motivation was to be able to listen to classical music on the radio at any time of the day or night, but I'm sure it would fill other needs as well.

It basically sounds like a mono speaker system, you sometimes barely hear what would be the stereo side or not at all. For the price the tuner was more important.

I run it on AA batteries and they last long time and the speaker sounds great.

They LOVE THEM. One of the best features, if not the best, is that the screen lists the name of the song and the artist (s). The is a great feature of the HD radio. The screen is clear, and you can easily read who is singing what song. In spite of all the other gadgets they have (ipads, telephone), they really enjoy the Insignia HD radio. Can't be beat!

No adjustments for sound, like treble and bass. I do like the display and its louder than what i thought.
