Sound quality on HD stations is quite good for a radio in this price range. But somewhat mediocre on regular FM.And there no AM at all, which is a downside. Controls are tiny buttons with tiny text along the top of the radio. Hard to see and use. HD tuning is fine. FM tuning is slow and clunky. Preset controls are next to useless. Always defaults to the highest number preset so must go down, one at a time, to get to preset one or up through all the empty presets (20 in all) to roll around to preset one. What idiot thought this was a good idea. Works great with AC or batteries, which you must provide. AC adapter is included. Has odd option to use it as a wired auxiliary speaker with other devices. Source button on top lets you switch between radio and Aux. Looks OK but shiny black sections are fingerprint magnets. Small enough to be easily portable. Blue backlight on digital tuner is easy to see and auto dims after a few seconds. Sound will get quite loud but suffers at higher volumes. Harsh highs. Somewhat distorted lows. Would have rated it four stars if the preset controls were better.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Second time I bought one of these little radios from BB. First one got me through Hurricane Ida in 2021. Had it for 3 years with no problems, but I left batteries in the battery compartment for too long and it ruined the wiring, my fault. Good reception in my area. I can't stand to listen to commercial pop music radio stations anymore, they're just awful. National Public Radio station in my area has 3 HD stations, one for 24 hour classical music, one for 24 hour jazz (my favorite!), both are commercial free. That alone makes the radio worth it. Speaker is not very loud, but sound quality is acceptable for a small tabletop radio. Would love to see some company make a unit similar to an old-style boombox with better speakers, I would probably buy it, but I don't think it will ever happen. Control buttons on top are tiny and sometimes hard to reach with fat fingers, but no biggie. I can't understand why commercial-free HD radio has not caught on like wildfire. Guess internet music is more popular. Anyway this radio does the job pretty well. Overall I'm satisfied.
