Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the Tabletop FM/HD Radio's excellent sound quality, ease of use, and good reception. Many appreciate its compact size and the inclusion of HD radio. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and the lack of AM radio is a drawback for some. A few also mention that the volume and controls could be enhanced for better usability.

Insignia HD tabletop radio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I agree with most posts. Volume could be louder, because I want to hear the radio from the lanai to the pool area. Have to use batteries, which don't last long. Secondly, Don't like to have to go all the way back to HD1 in order to listen to HD4 becuase radio doesn't have that particular memory. Overall, however, I love the WMNF HD4 station in the Tampa Bay area and would give this little radio a "Thumbs Up".

Decent Radio Maybe a bit Pricey
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good little radio. In wide open spaces had no problems with it at all, sounded great but downtown surrounded by tall buildings the HD tended to go in and out every once in a while.

Won’t Disappoint!

Impressive little radio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd been wanting to try HD Radio and when this went on sale I took a chance. Well built, has substance to it and not cheap-feeling. Sound is impressive with the built-in speakers - crystal clear on the HD stations. I mainly plan listen to AM stations at night when they go wonky with reduced AM signal strength, but there are so many other HD stations available with varied music as well. I hooked it up to my Sony bluetooth speaker via the headphone jack and music sounded outstanding. I agree the presets are a bit of a pain but once you get used to what is saved where it's easy to just turn it on and then hit the preset button the number of times of the preset you want. Overall i'm impressed with the quality of this radio, the sound, and the reception.

Don't buy this - designers hate you and happiness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The preset buttons don't work like every other radio in the world. Once programmed, 'up' and 'down' don't behave appropriately. Example: 5 preset stations: 95.1 97.3 99.5 101.7 103.9 Imagine you are currently tuned to 99.5. You'd expect the 'up' button would take you to 101.7 right? No, it takes you to 103.9 (the 'topmost' station.) What if you hit 'down' on the preset button? It takes you down to 97.3 right? NO SILLY! Of course, it takes you back to 103.9, the topmost station. Best Buy did not contract with a good factory, did not open the box at any point to test the design, and just didn't really try here at all :( The real sad part is the sound quality is great for the size and the reception is pretty decent. Volume is fine. Only buy if you plan on leaving it on one station or if you desire to reward basic incompetence in user design and experience testing. Best Buy will be getting this back tomorrow, and as usual for things like this, I'll have to go to Amazon to find an appropriate solution. Bummed out.

Not What I'd Hoped For
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the older model of this radio, and since some of the buttons on it occasionally stick, I thought I would upgrade to this newer, presumably improved model. The newer version is slightly larger with more heft and an overall solid feel to it, and it sits securely without any wobble at all. The display is fine, though the characters are smaller than on the previous version, but the text is perfectly readable. The big downside for me is the fact that it doesn't have a very good tuner, which really makes it very ineffective at its only job - tuning in radio stations. I placed it in the same location as the older model, and it couldn't lock onto half the stations that the older radio managed with ease. Even the strongest HD stations seemed to present a problem for this radio; though the tuner did manage to lock onto the station, the RDS info was, in a word, "spastic" - it would attempt to display the station and other info, but it jerkily flashed off and on, and was of very little practical use. A side-by-side comparison revealed that the newer model had a fuller, louder sound to it, which is all the more disappointing, since its tuning capabilities cannot match its older brother. 4-star sound, but 2-star tuning, so unfortunately, I had to return it to the store.

Good FM/HD Radio but doesn not have tech functions
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this radio based on the recommendation of other radio engineers. The original version of this radio included a tech menu that would allow the headphones to be split between FM & HD (for time / level alignment) as well as other tech info. This radio doesn't have the tech functionality that the older version included in a hidden menu. The old version physically differs from this radio in that this radio has an added external antenna input on back AND the box for the original version notes "Tabletop HD Radio" where the new version notes "Tabletop FM/HD Radio". This radio seems to have a bit better sensitivity than the older version. The older versions are still available NOS on other sales sites if you need the tech functionality. If you are just wanting a simple FM/HD radio, this one seems to be good. It is more sensitive than the FM/HD radio in a new Ram truck.

Quality radio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older model of this same radio that I bought from Best Buy about 6 years ago. I use it every day and it still works great. I'm giving this new one to a friend. It's hard to find quality, simple, radios now. I'm glad that Best Buy still carries this, despite the fact that it's not a popular trending product catagory.

Insignia's tabletop FM/HD radio: fine product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compact, elegant design; excellent clarity of reception when strong enough to receive; however, for me, the main reason purchased this item was to enable reception of certain station &, at present, strength of reception still inadequate. Therefore, am now looking into purchase of additional antenna to enhance receptive capacity. Still, this is a fine product.

Poor quality radio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can’t recommend this radio at all. It does a poor job of pulling in both analog FM and FM HD Radio signals. When found, HD stations were clear, but occasionally dropped out (even when the signal strength indicator showed a strong signal). Analog FM stations often had a fine hiss or buzz. One unique feature on this radio is that it has a signal strength indicator, however, even when the indicator shows a strong station signal, if often fails to find the HD radio signal for the station. I have an older inexpensive tabletop HD Radio that is able to find many HD stations in my area, this HD Radio wasn’t able to find many of the HD stations my older radio could find. I tried adjusting the antenna of this radio to possibly improve the reception, but no matter how I adjusted it, reception performance never changed. This radio also feels very fragile.
