I don't have wi-fi so I needed the usb adapter for the internet connection. My apple macbook air had the thunderbolt cable, but apparently it did not work with my router (apple should fix this problem), so I had to spend another 25 dollars to purchase this usb adapter for the internet cable. Then it still did not work without the drivers and since the Macbook air does not have a CD-drive, I had to go back to Geek Squad to use their CD-drive to install the CD with the software drivers for the Insignia adapter to work. The previous day, the geek squad guy had tested the usb adapter with a Belkin model, which automatically worked. So if you don't have a Cd-drive, then its probably best to buy the more expensive Belkin usb adapter, since the Macbook has the belkin drivers automatically installed without the need to download the drivers from the cd-rom.

When the Ethernet port on my laptop failed, this device allowed me to continue with hard-wired internet access at home and work thru a USB port. This product performs as advertised and is a good solution for anyone lacking an active Ethernet port.

Very simple and easy to use. Most of new machines don’t have ethernet port built in this is a useful device in an emergency like activating modem or connect laptop directly to wired network.

I am happy with the performance of the product but should not have been required to download driver to get it to work. It should have been up to date in the product packaging.

Great little adapter. My network card got zapped in the last storm and my ethernet port on my pc did not work. Because of this, I no longer need a network card on my pc. This plugs directly into the usb port and gives me internet.

I used this with my Surface Laptop to have it hard wired. The internet speed is a whole lot faster and it is convenient to have attached so I can take it to work and connect it as well.
