Plug and play. Works great for a laptop without an ethernet port, when you need to plug it in to a non wifi network.

We got this to replace a Monoprice USB 2.0 low power Ethernet adapter that was starting to have a loose connection after several years of mobile use and would lose internet connectivity. This Insignia adapter is essentially the same device, but without the lights that indicate an internet connection. It works. We noticed some very minor glitches while streaming movies on Amazon. It will freeze frame for a fraction of a second and then jump back into motion, maybe once a minute or so. It does not do this while streaming YouTube videos, as far as I can tell. We downloaded the latest driver, with no effect. We also retried our old Monoprice adapter and it would do it much less frequently, but it did do it, so may or may not be an issue with the adapter. We are fine with it as a low cost device for our casual use when we want a hardline connection via phone company internet service, not high speed. If you have a high speed service or want perfect streaming you might want to step up to a faster adapter. Your mileage may vary.

So glad to have found this. For some reason my laptop isn't connecting to wifi and I needed it to be directly plugged into the router. All I had was the ethernet cord but it didnt plug into my laptop. This little device has done the trick! It's been working great ever since I brought it home. Now I dont have to call my internet company and yell at them.

I have a MacBook Air that doesn't have an installed ethernet port. I'm working from home during quarantine and need to have video sessions with clients all day long. I don't want to count on my wifi, especially with my wife and daughter at home all day; we're all sharing bandwidth. So I bought this in order to get a direct connection with the internet. Works like a champ. Using it to submit this review, actually. The only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is that the installation software is a little clunky. Installation repeatedly failed when I used the included installation disk, but I found a link online for the driver install and it worked just fine. I'm sorry that I don't have it to list here. But if you go on Google you should find it pretty easily.

Had to find a ethetnet to usb adapter for my mac book pro for work, and needed it immediately. The cost was great in comparison to the Apple band. After talking with geek squad they assured me I would not need to use the included cd rom to install drivers, considering newer mac books do not include a cd rom or bluray player. Drivers are needed from the cd rom or internet. So do not get this if you need instant internet access and have none.

The new laptop that my dad bought was the first he’d owned with no dedicated ethernet port. He was having issues with his wifi and needed to plug directly in to the router. So, we picked up this adapter. Not much to say...it worked fine. Really the main drawback would be that it isn’t USB 3.0...so supports lower speeds. But for the occasional management of the router, it works fine.

My laptop was having connectivity issues and I bought this to help. I love it. Works like a charm.
