    Purchased this because the laptop the I have doesn't have a Ethernet connection on it. Most newer laptops have done away with this because wifi seems to be the standard was of being connected in today's world. I still needed the ability to connect directly to any network to do some troubleshooting and this allows me to do just that.

    My ethernet port got fried and this came in clutch. Not sure what else you would use it for except broken or lack of ethernet ports. Did its job. The downside is it is limited to USB speeds but that's no fault of the adapter. That's just how USB ports work.
