There is always a time that you need to be plugged into a network and the wireless just isnt working. The only downside to this product is that the Drivers are not available on the Insignia website. You have to find them on a Taiwanese website. If that wasnt a pain you have to know exactly what you want. This website has alot of drivers.

Waste of time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.In order to participate in a VIP Chat without losing connection, I need an Ethernet adapter for my MacBook Air (brand new) and this device was recommended to me at Best Buy. But it has completely let me down. It came with a CD but there's no CD driver on my laptop, so with the help of Insignia Customer Service I was guided to where I could download the driver, which I did. But it wouldn't open. The CS person at Insignia, Vincent, admitted they'd had a lot of trouble and complaints with this device (yet BB is still stocking it on their shelves!!!). BTW, this adapter is a 2.0, CS person said I needed a 3.0 for my particular computer, including because it is new, and that I had to return it to BB. But my VIP Chat has to be Central European Time business hours, and BB is not nearby, therefore I won't make it back from the store and have the computer set up in time to participate. Plus two trips now instead of one, wasted time and gas. Honestly, I am livid about this.
