|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression: The Insignia USB A SD MicroSD Single-Lun Card Reader Stick looks similar to the original USB thumb drives with its size. It’s made of plastic, it’s lightweight, yet feels sturdy. The USB A connector feels firmly attached. The cards slide easily into the adapter yet are firmly held in place. All-in-all, this adapter has a quality feel. Setup: There is no setup, just plug it in and it shows up as a drive. Performance: I tested this with both SD Cards and Micro-SD Cards. The SD Cards were from my Camera and the Micro-SD Cards were from my Drone. The adapter worked very well. The adapter was plugged into a USB 3.2 plug on my desktop. I transferred data from the cards to a QNAP NAS over Wi-Fi. The cards held anywhere from 5 GB to 10 GB each. I timed a 6 GB data move and it took 25 minutes. It usually takes longer than that to copy that amount of data from my camera to my computer. While I expected it to be a bit quicker than it was, it is still much faster than copying the data from the camera/drone to my PC, which then would have to be copied up to the NAS. Copying from the camera and drone to the NAS is brutally slow. Conclusion: I’m an IT engineer, and I deal with quite a few things that use SD Cards. This adapter will make moving data to/from them or writing configurations onto them much faster and much easier than working directly to the devices. For the price, you cannot beat it. I highly recommend this Insignia USB A SD MicroSD Single-Lun Card Reader Stick.
