Must have for newer notebooks

Everything is to be sacrificed to the world of form-function, thin-ness, and wireless-ness. Notebooks are becoming thinner and thinner, and with that, are losing out on older features such as cd drives (lol), better cooling tech (inb4 watercool a Macbook like Linus), and in this case, ethernet ports.
We're getting to the point where our devices will be as thick as a USB type-A port, (and that's just till type-C becomes more popular), and for those of us who still need a laptop for on-the-go usage, being able to directly plug into an ethernet jack and not have to deal with the difficulties wi-fi speeds can present can directly determine the success of a "Netflix-and-chill" session, especially in the likes of cruddy college dorm wi-fi.
Thankfully, devices such as these exist, and ensure that as we stream the latest episode of Mahou Shoujo Ball Z, that I won't have to transform into a pretty SSJ12 sailor at the consistent "buffering" symbol of rage.

Purchased this Insignia 3.0 USB Adapter because the ethernet cable port on HP laptop failed. More expensive to repair the port than to just purchase this adapter. Much better, more dependable and longer lasting. Really feel it will last a long time. Purchased adapter in June 2019 so glad I found this device.

Google Nexus Player @480mbps

I was tired of my Google Nexus Player constantly buffering and lagging under WiFi. Bought this USB adapter to hardwire to my gigabit Ethernet. Absolutely plug & play with OTG cable (not included). Backwards compatible with the USB 2.0 port of the Nexus. Transfer rate limited to 480mbps by USB, but still screaming fast! Highly recommended for those of us who don't have 200 bucks for an ac router.

I bought this because I needed to debug wireless communication. There were times where wireless internet connection would degrade and disappear completely. Modern laptops generally do not have a direct ethernet connection, mine included. The adapter made a faster more reliable connection which led to correction decisions.

No software needed to install, no drivers to install as Windows will pick it up automatically (with the computer connected to the Internet of course). Plug and play. Great for my work where at times I am using three different network schemes on the same laptop, Ethernet cable, wireless and USB-Ethernet. Works great and I keep it in my backpack of essential adapters for work.

My company switched computers and the new laptops didn't have any built-in ethernet connections. This was inexpensive and worked perfectly to hook up the laptop to the internet. This connection was much more reliable than a wireless connection.

Simple plug and play in my non-Ethernet equipped laptop.
I wanted to access the network securely which means “wired” and my new laptop didn’t come with Ethernet built in so this solved my issue.
Did not even need to load any drivers, just plugged it in and it was up and running in moments.
The laptop is a Dell, i5 running Windows 10.
