Customers are saying

Customers find value in the USB-C to 4K HDMI Multiport Adapter's ability to connect to HDMI displays, its broad compatibility with various devices, and its ease of use. Many appreciate the adapter's price and power delivery capabilities, while also noting its generally good performance. Although some users experienced connection issues, the positive feedback on features like portability and the availability of multiple ports outweighs these concerns. The adapter is frequently praised for its convenient size and functionality.

Great accessory for the MacBook. This little device has USB 2.0/3.0 port, 4K HDMI port and a USB C port for charging and accessories. It’s compact, lightweight and easy to use. Plug-and-play.

Works great with iPad Pro 12.9”

I bought this to use with a 2021 12.9" iPad Pro I just bought. Since there's no headphone jack I've been trying to figure out how to plug my guitar into my iPad. I also wanted to be able to use a non-Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with my iPad. Very few reviews had people specifically talking about using this product with an iPad. The packaging itself only says it works with Windows and MacOS. It doesn't say that it doesn't work with iOS but it doesn't say it does either. Let me say I've had great results with this. The normal price is $40. I got it as the Deal of the Day for $20 minus $10 in rewards = $10. I got a great deal on it and am very happy.

This is a nice way to allow me to connect my new laptop to other devices and to charge my phone and to attach a flash drive as needed. It's an inexpensive solution to the problem of not having ports on the laptop.

Cheaper than the apple equivalent I was apprehensive about purchasing but after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. I am a DJ and it is critical that my 2017 touchbar MacBook Pro work with no room for error! I am happy to report It works perfectly and I am super happy with my purchase.

TL; DR: If you are trying to decide on whether to buy this dongle or the pricy Apple-branded version, I have both. The quality difference is noticeable both in function and build. This product, while functional, exemplifies that axiom: "You get what you pay for" -- I bought this as a "need it now" purchase, and when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Apple stores were closed, online was going to take 1-2 days, AP didn't have any in stock--you get the idea. Kudos to BBY for having this one in stock, it really came through in a pinch. A+ I already have the the Apple-branded equivalents (i.e., Multiport HDMI and VGA Multiports) for other setups in our home so I at least have a baseline to compare this Insignia model to having used it for about two months. Having it in your hand, you can feel the difference in build quality immediately. The Apple version feels solid, firm, and well-made; this one feels cheap. The Insignia casing feels very hollow and does not feel like it will survive too long, especially if it's being shuttled between rooms, projectors, TVs, etc. I would only recommend this dongle if it was used only in a stationary location (e.g., Living Room TV) and not being routinely unplug/replugged. Candidly, the Apple-branded version of this dongle is nearly twice the price yet the build quality may be worth it. The labelling is peculiar. All the ports are upside down (cf. product image) yet on the bottom, all the ports are labelled. Whoever designed this adapter should have had the ports turned rightside-up so this smells like a last-minute "oops" when they sent it to manufacturing. [The Apple variant does not share this peculiarity.] Functionality, the Insignia model is OK/FAIR; it displays well on the 1080p HP screen I bought with it and there are no issues with video quality, color, etc. USB 3.0 functionality is fine until you decide to unplug something, the dongle will often drop the HDMI connection entirely; most times it recovers, sometimes it does not. [Meanwhile, the Apple-branded version does not share this issue at all.] If you plug in something that uses power/data (e.g., iPhone), it is a tad noisy (e.g., capacitors) so you'll hear the screeching of capacitors while it's humming along with data and power. If you are recording in a sound-sensitive environment, the noise may be a concern. [The Apple-branded versions are always dead-silent.] Data goes through fine and power is applied without any problems. I haven't run a speed test or anything but functionality, thus far, appears to be OK. The HDMI physical connection is far less forgiving than the Apple-branded equivalent. On the Apple dongle, the cable slides right in, and is otherwise uneventful; however, on this Insignia model, it has to be slid in perfectly straight otherwise the cable will not go in all the way. [I can't decide if this was a design compromise for the price or an outright flaw; the upside-down ports lead me to think it's the latter.] Power "pass-through" is only ~60W but if you unplug or lose power, the dongle will drop all of your connections (e.g., HDD, Video, etc.). [As you guessed, the Apple-branded model does not have this issue.] For what I need it for, a simple HDMI adapter with an occasional USB device attached, it's works OK so long as it's not being asked to do very much. By comparison to the Apple-branded equivalent, the design and functional compromises may or may not be a concern for some. In hindsight, had the Apple-branded dongle been in stock, I would have skipped this one and bought that one instead. I would not use this dongle outside the house or with any external data storage devices that were mission critical (e.g., Time Machine, large data transfers, etc.) given how temperamental it is to power delivery.

Save 30 bucks over the apple adapter and get this one. I use it every day and have no problems. I leave an HDMI cable and power plugged into it, meaning I only have one thing to plug into my computer instead of 2 every time I am back at my desk. The only thing that is irritating is that when I do disconnect it and go mobile, I have to reboot my laptop every time reconnect it to get it to see my monitor. The same thing happens with the Apple adapter as well, so this is not the fault of the adapter, but a MAC thing. Arg....perhaps an OS update will fix this.

Hooked it up from my Samsung S20 to my TV. Worked like a charm. I'm able to watch whats on my phone on the big screen and still be able to charge phone. I was able to also add a keyboard or mouse to make using devx easier.

I bought this to use with a Lenovo Yoga 6 13. No complaints. I plug it in to the USB-C port, and I can plug in my HDMI monitor, charger (to deliver power to the laptop), and one USB-A accessory. Really can't complain. It's not a full dock, but it's everything I need for a small home setup. If you need more monitors or accessories, this won't work for you, but if your home office has a smaller setup, you really can't go wrong here.

Love it so far! It's compact, works perfectly for my needs, and provides me with an extra USB port. It has seemingly lessened the overheating problem with my Macbook as well. The Hyperdrive adapter I was using before was causing it to constantly overheat, especially when charging and with multiple applications open. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to use an external monitor to extend their display.

I was looking for an adapter that I could use to get my second monitor up and running through the USB C port on my laptop. This adapter is proving to be more than capable of doing that and giving me another USB 3.0 port. So far, it works exactly as advertised and is small enough that it barely takes up any space. Great find!

Definitely a must have for all MacBooks really cannot go without it! It serves it’s purpose and it also works just as good if not better then the Apple brand. Not to mention it is only a fraction of the cost, if I remember right it was actually half the price of Apples.

Almost a genius creation here. The issue is the port for power is not strong enough to keep the phone charging and while in the middle of a good movie will turn off. The really great feature of this device is the ability to plug not only a phone to hdmi as well a keyboard or mouse or maybe even as well both at same time if the device takes a usb extender. The most important factor (which is why I bought it) was the compatibility with my phone as well multiple phones. The most beautiful feature is how easy the device is to setup from phone to tv and instantly watch a movie within a matter of seconds!!! The reason I would not recommend this to a friend just yet but maybe if the new version has a fix would definitely be the perfect device and would purchase right away.
