I just bought a new Mac book pro and realized all the inputbports are different. I couldn't fit a HDMI cable or a USB flash drives. I needed an adapter. Guy in store was super helpful and this was just what I needed.

Purchased this to use with external USB hard drive to connect to Microsoft Surface Go and to connect to TV via HDMI. I have been using with hard drive and the Surface recognizes it and I am able to store my files on my external HD.

This is a very handy piece to have for your laptop. We use it to connect our laptop to our tv to watch movies on various apps. Very happy with this item. Also use for the cordless mouse.

Needed a usb c to HDMI (laptop had not HDMI out) and this did just the trick. Using it for an extended display and it works just as if it was a normal hdmi; an added bonus that you still get another usb and usb c port after plugging it in.

This device will NOT support high-power charging through the USB-C port. My Dell notebook warns me that the charger is plugged into a low-power USB port and it will only charge in low-power USB mode. When you only have TWO USB-C ports on the notebook and want to use it as a docking station (external monitor, KB, mouse, external HDD), plugging my power adapter into this port was important, but did not work as I would like. Yes, it charges from that port, but not with full power. HDMI and USB port worked fine.

The device works perfectly just have a bad time of getting over the fact that Apple has to nickel and dime the smallest things just to squeeze every little bit out of their customers.

You will need it along with the new laptop to connect the devices that I already own with legacy USB interface and a wired HDMI connection to TV and monitor screens. Let you use the ports and charge at the same time.

Many of the devices at work require an HDMI connection to mirror the content from my screen to the projector. This device does just that. It's plug-and-play. No additional software or drivers are needed.

An absolutely must have if you use a MacBook. Bought for the wife to add additional monitor for school work.

This is a great adapter, it has HDMI, USB, and type c. The only issue is that the USB drive will get inserted upside down when you use the adapter. Not a huge issue.

I was disappointed to find that my new computer only had USB-C output. I use my computer while travelling to stream video to TV. This adapter saved the day. You simply plug in to the USB-C on the computer, no drivers were needed. It just works.

Used this at funeral for my dad to take our own slide show. They were not able to use our slides unless we could convert it. Instead bought 2 adapters and took to funeral home. They worked great.

Got this after my school district changed to chromebooks and didn't get us an adapter for our projector carts. Worked great with projector and HDMI cord. Hooked it up to my HDTV and worked great too.

Needed a few of these to keep in different places (office, home, etc). Apple has annoyingly changed its ports...again...so this comes in really handy for, ya know, basic things, like plugging in a USB thumb drive.

Works great with macbook, except if you have a display with usb-c as both connector and power source for the laptop.

Just what I needed to make my new MacBook complete. I wish Apple had included these ports, but at least I got them with this device.

I usually travel with the one for my PC to use with cell , I forget it when I leave device at home, so I just keep one in my daily bag to connect to my Galaxy S9+ great to transfer data display on a TV wirelessly and charge.

For me, this device worked perfectly. Allowed me to send an image to a screen from my Macbook, connect a USB flash drive, and still be able to charge my Macbook through a single port.

The adapter made by Insignia is about $20 cheaper than the Apple made one. So far, no issues with this one. It's just a pain in the butt that we have to use an adapter for everything now!

The USB C female port is just for charging but nice a nice to have if you want to have an external monitor and USB port hooked and charge at the same time. I have a bigger dock for multiple monitors at home but this is a great "roadie".
