Nifty adapter links legacy to modern devices

This little adapter works very well, as intended. I was able to connect the USB-C side of the adapter to my phone and the VGA side to a VGA cable (not included) which I plugged into an old monitor. Even though the resolution was roughly 2K on my phone, the image showed up very clear on my 480p monitor, though I should mention that the image was slightly zoomed (as expected). Keep in mind that if you play a video or music from your connected phone, the sound will still come only from your source device (i.e phone) and not from the VGA connected device (monitor/projector), since VGA does not carry sound. On that note, I wish this adapter included an audio jack. Another slight inconvenience is that you won't be able to charge your phone while you have this device plugged in, unless you set your phone on a wireless charger. This adapter is convenient if you want to hook up your phone to a projector or old monitor. The connection is secure since you can screw the VGA cable into the adapter. All in all, it's a nifty adapter that can make use of old screens or projectors with new phones and other devices.

I got a new laptop, and it only has USB-C outputs, not a VGA so the Insignia USB C to VGA Adapter fixed that problem without buying a new monitor or getting something bulky to do the job. I like that it does not need to download or setup anything, it is a plug and play adapter, one end to the laptop or computer with the USB-C output and the other to the VGA cable to the monitor and done. The quality of the video is great, I do not see a downgrade on video on my monitor, it does support my 1080p monitor and it does deliver the 60Hz. I also like that it is easy to put away in my backpack since it does not take much space when I have to use it somewhere else like my projector that only has the VGA input since it is a bit older but works. It works with Apple as well as a Windows and Chromebook. Overall I like the quality of the adapter, I also like how easy it is to use, and the cable has a nice feel and flexes easily and looks great since its white so it goes with most other products I have.

The right adapter can be useful and this one was no exception. Below are my thoughts: [PROS] Performance: Despite wiggling and bending the cable, the display from my projector maintained proper connection to my laptop and other USB C devices. Protective covering: The outer shell that's shielding the VGA port is very thick and durable. I've used housing in the past that were flimsy, but this one is constructed well. Also, the adapter contains the VGA screw locks which is a bonus in my book. Compatibility: I was able to screen mirror multiple devices. My usage included screen mirroring my iPad as well as a Samsung Galaxy phone via the Dex software. Unfortunately, Google Pixel phones don't support USB C alt-mode (usb cable to display) so this will not work on these devices. [CONS] Gets Dirty: The white rubber-like material covering the USB C wire can get dirty. This is a cosmetic issue so it doesn't affect functionality of the device. [CONCLUSION] VGA is pretty much an antique technology, but can be useful in a number of ways. This adapter merges the old (VGA) with the new (USB C) to extend the life of those devices we may still use today. I like this adapter and would highly recommend it.

A Type-C to VGA adapter that works

I have a couple of older monitors sitting around and most of them do not have a HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort or native Type-C connectors. The only option is the VGA (or D-Sub) port. As I wanted to use an old monitor as a screen for a DIY arcade machine, I was looking for an adapter such as this one. The box contains the adapter and a quick start guide. Note that the Type-C port will need to be a USB 3.x Gen 2 or higher on the source device. Most newer devices have such a Type-C connector, but you have to be sure as if it does not support it, you won't be able to connect to an external monitor. This being said, the connection was easy enough and I was able to send a 720p signal through to an aging HP monitor. I also connected my smartphone to an older projector using the adapter and I was able to get an image without a problem. Now keep in mind that the sound will *not* be transmitted through the adapter as it would be through a HDMI or Type-C to Type-C connection. Frankly, this little adapter worked just fine for me, it does what it advertises and I can only recommend it.

The Insignia USB-C to VGA Adapter is a solid designed, quality constructed adapter that allows a device designed with a USB-C to connect as output to the VGA input of a projector, TV or monitor. It is designed to support video resolutions up to 1080P @60 Hz or 1920 x 1200 @60 Hz. This connection allows for mirroring your device’s screen and extending the screen’s content to another monitor. It is light weight, built of solid material, and is a simple connection that is plug and play only. Meaning there is no extra app to load, no additional software to update, no additional device to power it, etc. Just plug the devices into the connector ends properly and play. If you give presentations or just need to have an extra monitor running your screen, this is an essential connector to have in hand in your equipment. Because it has a USB-C connection on one end, this is the first type connector that I have seen that works with the input into a VGA device. Yes, I would recommend picking one up, especially at its low cost.

I simply connected the USB-C end to my laptop and the VGA cable to the adapter's VGA port, and voila! It established a stable and reliable connection in seconds. The plug-and-play functionality is incredibly convenient, eliminating the need for any additional drivers or software installation. The video quality delivered by this adapter is outstanding. The USB-C to VGA Adapter is a versatile and efficient tool that allows you to connect modern devices, such as Google Chromebook, to older monitors or projectors with VGA ports. Its compact and durable design ensures a stable and high-quality connection. Insignia compatibility ensures exceptional data transfer speeds and a smooth experience. With this adapter, you can enjoy sharp resolution and smooth video playback, making it an essential solution for presentations, work and entertainment. Its ease of use and reliable performance make it a valuable addition for any user who needs to connect USB-C devices to VGA displays. I work from home 25-75% of the time. I would drag the docking station home with me to be able to drive 2 monitors off the work laptop. I finally decided to see if the laptop could drive 2 monitors without the docking station. It has an HDMI and a Display Port. So all I needed to do is get the displayport to the VGA and I was good. The laptop recognized the VGA monitor through the adaptor and I was up and running with no Docking station. Way more convenient for my home office to not need the bulky docking station to drive 2 monitors when working.

Bigger screens are always helpful with working on computers these days. That valuable real estate helps with efficiency and being able to do more with less time. With that in mind quickly adding a screen without a full dock is key. Setup was easy. Pretty much plug and play. It worked on my gaming PC but my Microsoft Surface didn't like it. Both are running windows 11 so not sure what happened and I didn't want to go through the hassle to trouble shooting service pack issues or update issues for my other PC. The gaming PC lit up the screen immediately. It allowed me to either mirror or extend my screen. No issues. I tried to use on my Google Pixel 7 Pro just to try it. Nope. It did not recognize. Now surprised. I was just trying to see if Google snuck it in as part of their most recent update or not. Anyway. Regardless. This device is a simple way to get extra screen space in a simple form from USB c to VGA. So for that I would recommend this product for what it is intended.

Could not find in State College store, and no staff seemed to be available or interested in helping me. Luckily, I had to drive by the Altoona store; sales staff was available and very helpful, finding me exactly what I needed. The adaptor they furnished worked perfectly to connect my lcd projector to my mac air, in stock, and available just in time for my presentation.
