This PC had no HDMI so this adapter made everything work. I was skeptical about the resolution being from VGA to USB but it actually looks better than expected. Also, my PC had Vista and it worked fine. It was just a "plug and play" as we say. I didn't need any software or plugin. It works great and have had no problems if any kind. I highly recommend it.

When left on for long periods it does have a tendency to build some heat, but it has thus far worked well for dual monitors (one adapter each) on my Surface dock.
