It works, but read the instructions carefully. It only converts one direction, so make sure you are getting it for the correct signal source.

This item works amazing. I had a 5 year old Lenovo laptop that worked fine with my old TV when I would run a long HDMI to HDMI wire so I could watch shows from my laptop. But my new Insignia would not recognize it. I read that one solution was to use the VGA port (look it up) to hook it up to the TV. Problem is, VGA only has video and no audio (which I didn't really pay attention to when I bought the cord). And I got home and thought the USB part was just an extra piece. I hooked in the VGA, and then my old HDMI cable (6 feet or more of HDMI cable to reach the TV), the picture came on! But no sound :(. Then I remembered about the VGA having no sound, so then I was like, "Hmmm, just maybe..." and plugged the USB in too, and voila, Let There be Sound! Very ingenious design to get sound and video with one gadget. I am really glad too, because I bought the TV and didn't take it out of the box for months and I couldn't return it. I had got used to just using my laptop to watch stuff in my room.

I used this adapter to connect a old school KVM to a monitor without VGA. Worked perfect!!!

Reasonable price, easy to attach, and great feature of an extra outlet for an HDMI cable. It's a little too short (the computer/laptop and monitor have to be very close together), or I would give it a five.

I wasn't able to use the item only due to the fact the monitor I bought (not from Best Buy) isn't working. This item works fine. I am keeping it, because I know I will still be able to use it.

Specialty device for a special situation. When you need something like this and it is all that is available, it works. Not an Insignia fan at all, but it got the job done for us.

Unfortunately, this adapter was not compatible with my setup. While it connected easily, I couldn’t get any signal to display. After some research, I found that this type of adapter may not work with all VGA devices since VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. It may require a converter rather than just a cable adapter. The build quality seems fine, but it just didn’t meet my needs.

Best Buy always seems to have the correct "gadgets" to get the job done. I was trying to hook up two monitors to my desktop computer and this was just perfect. Worked exactly as described

works how its suppose too hands down. not all that extra verbage just plug plug and turn on the power AND BOOM, works.

It works great and made the sound work as well. I put this on a server not desktop and not many devices work on a server, especially software.

I like that I was able to pair a updated monitor to my old computer. It made it quite easy, and the clerk or representative in the store was able to guide me to the right item, even though I was trying to describe it to him because I didn’t know the terms for the item I needed great customer service.
