This is the simplest smart garage door opener for HomeKit I’ve come across and it was very easy to setup! Great product!

Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Easy set-up and install. Love that you don’t need a hub or a different app beyond Apple’s Home app.

The installation was simple. The kit is actually well made and the led lights on the Kit work great along with the chime to warn that the door is opening or closing remotely. The Firmware automatically updates. While everything worked great when on the Home Wi-Fi -- I could not seem to get the updated status when outside / remotely. Spoke with Customer Care who were helpful in pushing two different firmwares through. But this did not help ... Returned this to get Genie / Aladdin Connect. My issue was tha

I had this installed within 10 min and it’s been 100% reliable. Notifies me if garage is opened/closed, I can ask Siri to open/close garage or ask “is my garage open” for peace of mind, and CarPlay even automatically shows a garage button. I didn’t even have to set that up. I’m so glad I didn’t spend 2-3x the $ on something else with limitations/subscriptions. -only nitpick I have is that if you close garage via phone, it beeps very loudly (as a safety feature, so I can’t really fault the choice)

I’ve had this 4 months and already had to change batteries on the bluetooth door receiver. There is no warning, the door just stops working. The batteries are not cheap. I wouldn’t buy again.

Having installed a few home automation devices, I really wanted an easy way to monitor my garage doors. The devices installed without too much difficulty, and did work initially. I also had a wi-fi repeater in the garage to make sure there was a strong signal. Within a couple of days, it started to sporadically not work and I reset and reinstalled the devices. Again it worked for a day and then was sporadic. I feel I’m pretty technically oriented, however, after trying three different times to get these to work I gave up. Apple HomeKit isn’t as easy to setup and troubleshoot devices as I had hoped. I returned both and will just use a webcam with text alerts instead to monitor my garage.

Since I have installed this I have had nothing but problems with a “Not Responding” issue. The Home App will not control it again until you unplug and then plug it back in. I have gone through all of the suggested fixes including, resetting it as well as resetting the sensor, moving it as close as possible to the router, uninstalling and reinstalling using the home app and I even bought a new Nighthawk router which should be totally compatible. I had even gone into the router and disabled QOS, WMMI, and Airtime Fairness one at a time and also all together. Did not work. I have a camera setup to even see if my garage door is shut. Horrible product...

I am adding to my HoneKit based smart home and was looking for a device to make my garage door opener "smart" this device does that. Install was simple. mount the door sensor device on the door and the controller near the opener itself, insert a couple of wires into the opener and pair to your home WiFi. So far it has been solid without any errors. I would love to be able to control the lights on the unit separate from the operation of the door but that is a minor quiblle. so far so good

I've been slowly outfitting HomeKit devices in my house, currently I have installed a few light switches. I've been on the lookout for a reasonably priced HomeKit enabled garage door opener as the only other option is by a competitor and requires the purchase of an additional hub, essentially doubling the price. I saw this, and full disclosure, was apprehensive being that it was an Insignia product. After reading some reviews, I decided to take a chance. One, it was reasonably priced, and two, didn't require a hub. The good points are everything you need comes in the package. They even provide a screwdriver, screws and 3M double sided tape for the installation. Installation took about 15 minutes, mostly because I just moved slowly to make sure if I needed to back out, I could put everything back the way it was. Honestly it's dead simple to install. There is a note that states make sure you have good wifi to where the device will be placed. Essentially take your phone and place it where the device will be placed to check how many wifi bars you're getting to confirm you have a good signal. All the boxes checked, I installed the device, and connected it to my wifi for HomeKit access. It does not have an application. It only uses HomeKit to control it. After installation I ran a test from inside the garage. Open HomeKit and tap to open the garage, tap to close it. When you close it a little siren goes off before the garage door actually starts moving, just to give you a warning. The app displays, "Closing" or "Opening" depending what you're doing, and then "Open" or "Closed" when complete. I ran a test from outside and everything seemed to work fine. What I noticed a few times that evening is the app kept saying "Closing" even though the garage door was closed, which made me wonder if it somehow was triggered and opened the garage. A few times I noticed that the app said "Open" when the door was actually closed. I started to lose faith in the product and made sure I physically checked that the door was closed before heading to bed. The next day my wife was coming home and tried to use the app and the door wouldn't open, even though the app would state, "Opening". She was in and out that day, and basically told me she hated it and it simply wasn't working. I tried testing it again, and locked myself out because the garage door wouldn't open, although the app says, "Opening". I had enough, took it down and packed everything up and took it back to Best Buy. I was skeptical of Insignia, but hopeful after reading the reviews. I saw some others who had issues and said the battery that comes with it needs changing. I just didn't have faith in the device. I felt very insecure as the app would say "Opening" when it's closed, or would say, "Closing" continuously, even though it's closed, making me wonder, was it opened. If you really need a HomeKit garage door opener, I would look elsewhere.

If you have an older garage system you may find the WiFi signal it gives off so Strong that it blocks your regular remote from working. Otherwise the system is easy to use and set up. I do wish it had its own app and tied in with home kit instead of just using HomeKit
