Decent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was a rough start to getting this set up. Install is really easy. It’s the connection process that takes the most time even with a great WiFi connection in my garage. I would recommend this product but know there are better ones out there. However, once up and running it works as described.

Great option for older garage door openers
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Moved into a home with older garage door openers and wanted to use HomeKit to monitor entry through the garage. This works great and easy to install. Saved myself lots of money replacing the entire garage door opener. A bit laggy but still works great!

Works Well Most Times
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works how it is supposed to most times, sometimes it takes a few seconds to update. If you have problems with it out of the box like I and apparently many others have had, just repair the door sensor to the controller and that should fix it.

Very convenient and works fine
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had just worried about this garage door controller works or not but mostly works fine with Apple CarPlay or Siri. Sometimes it doesn't work by CarPlay but maybe this issue is not caused by this product because it still work with Apple HomeKit manual operation.

Great device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device was fairly easy to install and works great. I love knowing that I can always get into my garage as I always have my phone and thus my garage door opener with me. I also like being able to use the phone and the Home App to double check that my garage door is closed at night.

Decent Controller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased so I don't constantly have to check to see if my kids closed the garage door. This device sometimes doesn't respond so it shows no results in the Apple Home Kit which is frustrating. When it connects it works great, able to close the door remotely and confirm status.

Pretty good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent, well built little device. For some reason its operation is a little glitchy with my system. It still works, it's just sometimes the button the home app needs to be push, or cycled through, a couple of times to get it to pick up and work.

Useless Novelty Item Really.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can not believe it is limited to a WiFi connection. I had no problem setting it up really, just frustrated color matching wires, though I learned it did not matter, just as long as they are connected to the wall unit wires. The WiFi limitation problem is that you have to be literally right in front of the garage door to open the garage door using Siri. Such a real waste of time, money, effort, resources, & energy. It’s nothing but a novelty & it takes MORE than several attempts EVERT TIME to get Siri to connect with it when coming home! It is much faster just using the standard garage door remote which is more reliable & has a further reach! It simply needs to have a cellular phone reach to mean anything useful. Or it should have some sort of WiFi specific extender that can be placed in our vehicle. Duh!

Works 1-2 Times Only
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup and install were super easy. Got the device up and working. Works from always solid green control button. Then from homekit app to open and close. Then from Siri. All work. Then never again. Constantly says unavailable and No Response. Have to reset WiFi then it shows up again no problem. For 2-3 more open/closes. Than No Response again. There is nothing to to troubleshoot. Just doesn't work. If you reset WiFi it works 1-2 times than stops. There is no way to recommend it because there is zero to troubleshoot if everything says it is working but won't respond.

Must buy for Smart Garage Apple HomeKit
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed on my main garage door. Great value for HomeKit enabling your garage doors
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While these are not the top-of-the-line HomeKit garage door controller, they are a great value for the price. Just make sure you have good WiFi signal in your garage. Installation was very straightforward.

Try it
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to install. Apple Home app is easy to use as well. I did have to purchase a WiFi extender to strengthen the signal enough to use it but that I think speaks more to the distance between my garage and router.

Easy upgrade to smart home
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the ability to connect my garage door to HomeKit but you can only use the 2.4Ghz band to connect to it. It has dropped off the network a few times in the past but it’s easy to reconnect.

Cheap garage controller work with Apple home kit!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A very cheap but super effective garage opener work with home kit! Easy setup and work in parallel with original Garage opener button wire! The only thing need to be careful is the sensor installation, When you door is open, you need to verify if the door is in real horizontal position. Sometime the door rail will be a bit tilted to allow easy door close and the sensor will not report correct open signal. So always make sure it is installed such that it is open in horizontal and close in vertical position, Great product overall! Added magic shortcut word to easy control through Siri and it amaze my family whne I drive them home!

Simple set up. Easy to use. Great price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.$44 is great value for this very easy to set up, Apple HomeKit enabled Garage Door Opener. Set up took me 10 minutes tops. The box is complete with all you need to know. Just remember that your phone needs to be on a 2G WiFi network in orderto get the GDO controller connected to your home WiFi. After that it just works. Now I can open and shut my garage from wherever and receive notifications when the door is opened or closed...not just by someone pressing g the button but also by someone trying to force the door. It manages this by a stick on door sensor that connects wirelessly to the controller. For the price it’s hard to argue!

Quality Control Issues?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have two of these. One works fine (so far) and the other is a total brick after about 4 days. They are about 20ft apart from each other in the same garage, so I know it's not a WiFi issue. I've done reboots, factory resets, etc. on the bad unit and it's useless. I'm not confident in the other one lasting. Also, there seems to be zero support for these on the Insignia Connect App. How Am I supposed to do a firmware update? How I am supposed to do anything other than basic homekit controls without Insignia App support?

Posted .Hello,
We are sorry about your experience with the 2nd garage controller. WiFi signals do vary in strength over time depending on location and interference. Even with only 20 feet of additional distance, the signal to your second door controller may be marginal. Please temporarily move the 2nd controller from the garage to inside your home closer to your WiFi router. If the controller remains functional, a WiFi extender would resolve the connection issue. Otherwise, please contact Insignia Support at 877-467-4289 so that we could help you troubleshoot it further.
Regarding firmware updates, although the Insignia Connect app does not currently support the Garage Door Controller, the Insignia cloud can deploy firmware updates and feature enhancements at anytime. Thank you for your feedback. We look forward helping you get the system fully functional.

50/50.. Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that my home network is fantastic. I have full coverage in every room of my house (garage included). I have never had a problem with any of my other smart device, to include the ones in my garage. That said, I purchased this door controller because the price was amazing for the functionality it offered. I was ecstatic to have HomeKit control over my garage door. I followed the instructions perfectly. I tested the wireless signal of my 2.4GHz band in the area where the controller would be plugged and had full signal as I had expected. I should also say that this device had a warning sticker on the box that read that a strong Wi-Fi signal in the garage was required. Seeing as how I tested and proved that coverage and signal strength would not be an issue, I installed the device, set it up in the home app on my iPhone and tested it. It worked perfectly. I gave myself a pat on the back and went along with my day. Later, I was leaving my house. I asked Siri to open my door and she told me the device was not responding. I checked my app and sure enough, it was unreachable. Now, this is problematic because the home app is the only way to control this device. There is not hub that pairs to a 3rd party app. There is nothing else. If it is having issues with HomeKit, it just doesn’t work. I opened my door with the button and figured I’d work on it after I returned home. When I got home, it suddenly appeared to work again. TLDR; This product is not worth it. It works about half the time. The other half, it just doesn’t respond (despite still having network connectivity and full reception strength with virtually no interference from competing signals within the same spectrum). Put your money toward another device with a better track record instead of wasting your time on this one.

Great cheap option for HomeKit garage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was very easy and got it up and working around 15 minutes. There were a few hiccups at first with it not reading the garage state correctly but things started working after I opened and closed the garage manually.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.installation was a breeze. product is small and easy to mount. works every time. but I do have strong wifi coverage on my property. you need good 2.4ghz in the garage for this. Works Great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great with Homekit. I had issues with the native Chamberlain hardware and no Homekit support. Wish this had been out when I was originally building my Home setup.
