Easy install, easy setup. Give 5 minutes after you power it up to see it in homekit. Works great. I can open the garage from my watch too.

Lets me control the garage wherever I am!

I have been using this device to control my garage door remotely. I am able to open and close it with the sound of my voice (Siri) or by using my phone wherever I am. I no longer have to worry about whether or not I forgot to close the garage door because I can just check on my phone. The only downside is that it significantly reduced the range of the physical remote that was previously used to control the garage, but overall I feel it is worth it.

I was able to add the device to homekit, but it would not open and close my garage door. I'm not sure if it's the Insignia unit or my old garage door system.

Thank you for choosing the Insignia Garage Door Controller. We are sorry that it did not work with your specific brand/model of garage door opener. The kit is compatible with most garage openers that have a simple push button wall control unit. Please check your specific model using our compatibility chart at https://connect.bestbuy.com/gdc/gdc.html

I was a little skeptical on installing myself but with a little homework and YouTube videos I found it to be very easy. Insignia is created by Chamberlain so also make garage door opener. The only difference is insignia is only meant for Apple home kit. If you don’t have Apple home kit, don’t buy this product. If you do have Apple home kit, it’s very easy to install and easier to use on your phone. No additional app is needed to use the garage opener.

    Works Great on Older Doors

I have a Chamberlin opener that is too old to upgrade to their automation system. I thought I would have to replace it until I found this controller. It works with your existing opener, remotes, keypad, etc but still notifies me when the door is opened or closed and allows me to control the door from Siri! I have also added door controls to HomeKit Scenes so the door will close at night if I forget it. Best solution I have found for an older door opener!

Headline says it all. Within 10 feet of UNIFI Access Point, which is 10 feet from hardwired switch. Drops off the net all the time, gets confused about whether the door is open or not. Nice toy, but not reliable enough to use anywhere. Have had the product three months. Sat in box for first month. Fiddled with it for the second. Gave up now. Recommendation: when you buy this, make sure you are dissatisfied within first 30 days otherwise you're stuck with it.

Works but not for “Learn wall switch Openers”

The manual says that this device is compatible with Craftsman 139.54985 but since i have a wall switch with a learn button this renders it inoperable. It will connect to HomeKit perfectly. This is a perfect device for someone with an OLD(dumb) garage door motor.

      Hello,

Yes, you are exactly correct. The Insignia Garage Door Controller is not compatible with garage systems that have a "learn" button on their wall control unit. We have provided a list of compatible systems on the main product page of our web site. We encourage anyone considering this product to ensure that they have a compatible system before ordering. Thank you!

It was the best way to retrofit my door opener with wifi capability without buying a new opener. The HomeKit integration is a little glichy but for what I paid…whatever. I have the ability to open my doors remotely from anywhere and monitor if they are open or closed, this has proven quite useful. Just make sure you keep a good battery in the door sensor or you’ll have issues.

Setup and installation was much easier than expected. The HomeKit code is now printed in the manual, resolving an issue mentioned in earlier reviews. Our Chamberlain garage door opener uses quick connect instead of screw connections. It was a little tricky twisting the wires together since this uses thin strands. Took a few extra minutes to get this set but it now works like a charm!

Afforadable, easy to install, and works reliably. I would recommend it to anyone. It has a safety feature that I find mildly annoying - it emits several beeps prior to closing the door, but it’s not a big deal and we tend to use this to open the garage door as we’re approaching and then close it using the switch in the garage. So, that’s not a big deal and that’s why it’s still 5 stars.

I installed this a few weeks ago and it hasn't worked correctly all the time. But I have at least eight emails with customer service and they are still contacting me to make it right. It has a sensor I mounted on my garage door, and that door is metal-clad; that may cause incorrect reports of whether the door is up or down. The cust service rep is highly responsive and I have a lot of confidence. I like the HomeKit compatibility.

Was looking for a way to open my garage door with my device for a while. I guess I waited long enough. This does the trick. Works with the iPhone home app. So now I can ask siri to open the garage door and she does. Love it Lets you know if the door is open or closed in the app. Can also ask siri if its closed. Really like it so far. Works with garage doors that have two wire wall control pads. Comes with two sets of wire so you can easily hook it to terminals or push in style conecters.
