this is the simplest most amazing homekit garage door opener. instead of building it into the motorized unit and then requiring a bridge and other crap like Chamberlain does, they just made a wall-button-type-device that has homekit built in. the sensor that sticks on the door is super effective as well. it's so simple a caveman could do it. i HIGHLY recommend this!!!!!

I wanted a way to add control of my Lift Master garage door to my Apple Home set up. This product fit the bill. Installation was straightforward and quick. I can now open/close the garage door with Siri. I can also check the open or close status of the door by asking Siri or looking at the Home app. Great product. I plan on getting an additional one for my other garage door.

This garage door controller works great with Siri and the Home app on iPhone, it was surprisingly easy to install, and it’s more reliable/consistent than I feared after reading some other review - probably because we have excellent WiFi coverage in our garage. Most of all, you can’t beat the value for this controller!

WILL NOT WORK WITH MULTIPLE PHONES!! Install went pretty well and it worked as expected until I tried using it with a second iphone. After some frustration I contacted support and found out the this unit will work with only 1 iphone. If you have a garage with one double door and more than 1 driver this won’t be for you. I can’t believe the developers of this could be so short sighted. Good service but that doesn’t do much good when the device won’t work as expected. Worthless for our situation and will be returned.

The short version: there are better options out there if you have a modern Chamberlain / LiftMaster secure wireless remote opener. This requires hardwiring the controller into your opener, and only a specific list are "compatible." Mine is "compatible" but we never were able to get the wires to work. Ordering the chamberlain MyQ HomeBridge instead as it's the same price and adds HomeKit as well. Plus, no need for wires, it's basically a remote on its own.

Purchased this as a gift for a smart home person who had everything, but garage control. Recipient said it works great and was super easy to install and program. Accessible through app and Apple TV. I have the chamberlain myq smart garage door and love having control over my garage, especially when away from home. This turns any garage into a smart garage for Apple users.

I was very surprised at how easy it was to install this product, it took less than 15 minutes. Make sure you have a strong WIFI signal in your garage. I had to move my wireless router a bit closer towards the garage. Homekit setup was easy, however, after a few weeks, I was getting a "No Response" in the Apple Home App. I reset the controller and paired it again with my phone, then it's good again. Good product for the price and ease of use.

Good idea but very unreliable. They are 2.4 MHz WiFi with very weak radios so if your router is too far expect spotty performance. But do I like the? I do.

I was a little hesitant with this product as I have a 1.5 stall garage and the guide says to only use on a single garage door, but it works great. It was very easy to install and works with the Home Widget on the iPhone. This is great for northern MN and remote starting the car in the cold mornings!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my parents with the intention of expanding their HomeKit. Setup was very straightforward; was up & running with an hour. Works flawlessly when away from home (with the use of an Apple TV as a hub). Garage door remote openers continue to function normally after the addition of the Insignia Wi-Fi Garage Door Controller.

This device was the easiest to install and most inexpensive Apple Home Kit garage door opener I could find. It has been installed now for about 30 days and has worked without failure. Installation was straight forward. Anyone who can handle a screw driver can install this device. Integration with an Apple Home Kit controlled house is flawless.

Wonderful little device. Great instructions and online tutorials make for a quick and easy set up. In no time at all, I was controlling my garage door with Siri and Homekit. Check for compatibility before you purchase (though MOST openers are supported), and make sure you have strong WiFi in your garage. Great product!

I had a Camberlain Smart Garage Hub for a while. It worked fine, but I wanted HomeKit integration. Unfortunately, Chamberlain requires the purchase of additional bridge in order to achieve that. Insigna does not require any additional hardware and integrates directly with HomeKit - just what I needed. Works perfectly and as expected.

Installation was fairly easy, but my configuration required the purchase of a small power strip. Setup as a HomeKit device was uneventful once I had the configuration down with wires in the right place. With that was completed successfully, I was able to open and close the door, Each time I did, I received notifications on my devices for the open/close event. Although there are times this is annoying, my wife and I both have realized that we are not always receiving notifications. Most importantly, we cannot depend on seeing actual open/close status within the iOS "Home" app, nor being able to connect to it to control open/close of the garage door.

      Hi,

Thank you for your feedback on the Insignia Garage Door Controller. Regarding the missing or intermittent notifications, please note that if you are using an Apple TV as a HomeKit hub, it may be setup to go to sleep after 15 min of no activity. Please check your Apple TV's setting to make sure it is set to not go to sleep. If you are using an Apple HomePod, then this is not an issue as it is always on and active as a hub. If your Apple TV is setup correctly and you still experience the issue, please contact Insignia support team technical team for further assistance.

Having a smart home garage door opener has been a tremendous convenience for accessing the garage; while at the same time being able to determine whether the garage door is open or closed after leaving the house. Item was easy to install and has delivered on all features as advertised. Great addition to Homekit. Highly recommended.

I got a myQ hub and bridge and could never get the bridge to work right. That costs about $150 FYI. Returned and got this and need to be recalibrated a few times whether open or closed but working great since. For a third of the price I think it’s a no brained if you intend to use with Homekit alone.
