Purchased this over before the holidays and it sure was a smart move. I used it primarily for the christmas lights I had placed outside. With the useful companion app I was not only able to turn it on/off from my phone despite my location, I also had the option of setting a time schedule! That was a great and very time saving feature. If you'd like you can also use it with the amazon echo & google home so you could use voice control. This was all new to me but so awesome and convenient. Bottom line, I definitely liked this & would buy another withouht hesitation.

The best thing we ever did was to purchase the Wi-Fi smart plugs with power Metering! We use it with our Alexa to control our TV and Lights,

Had a couple of the non metered ones and this was just as good as those. Interesting to see the estimates on usage. Fits seamlessly with Alexa.

Took several tries to get this plug activated in the Insignia app, not even sure how I finally got it to work. Once connected I tried doing schedules and no matter what the times were off, sometimes and hour, sometimes 16 minutes or another random time. I added it to Alexa and then used Routines in that to schedule it and that is always spot on for the time. Once you use the app to eventually connect this switch just plan on not using it. I am saying I would recommend to a friend but we are all very technology savvy, if you're not then don't buy this switch

Works well. I use this smart plug for my Fan. So nice to be able to turn the fan on or off with Siri. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn’t work well with Google Assistant or Alexa.

Initially used on the Christmas lights. Worked great on Apple and .Google systems at the same time. Now to find another use for it. It is fun.

I have 4 insignia smart switches and this is the first one with the power meter which I really like because it lets me keep track of how much my ac is going to cost me

Very compatible with the Echo unit we received at Christmas. Very user friendly and allows a wide variety of uses and flexibility.

There are sometimes long delays between commands to Alexa and the device actually turning the devices plugged into the smart plug

Very easy to set up and use. I have it connected to my room lamp with Google Home Mini and it works flawlessly!

Item was great however I wish it worked for all platforms HomeKit, Alexa extra better, had to reset a few times once I used a different application

This product does as advertised. Requires some set up knowledge to get it to play with google home. But it is less expensive than most other similar products.

I bought two of these and have them plugged into the outlet right below my router to do the first time setup I have power cycled the outlets and restarted my phone and and did the ten second hard resets on the outlets and I can't for the life of me get the second one to connect to my router through the connect app. Every time I go to type in my WIfi password and hit enter to connect the device it tells me it failed to connect and I get a "Registration call failed" message.

If you want to start with the whole smart home stuff!! Great price and works like a charm with apple homekit!!!

Had problems with slow updates in HomeKit at first, but I restarted my network and it actually seemed to solve the problem. I wasn’t able to get it to show up in the insignia app, wanted to check for firmware updates, but connected and functions just fine in other HomeKit apps. A bit on the expensive side, as other HomeKit outlets can be found for quite a bit cheaper. Also the energy use doesn’t seem to show up in third party HomeKit apps like Home or Eve.

Very useful. Works with both HomeKit and google home. Daily driver.

After reading the reviews I decided to skip the app and go straight to HomeKit setup. What was weird is it connected to WiFi but HomeKit said it couldn’t add the device. So I went into the app and I couldn’t see it there either. I followed the directions to reset the switch. After doing that, I re-added via HomeKit and was successful. I then went into the insignia app and found the device already listed there. Everything worked fine.

This smart plug is very easy to set up. You can monitor electricity usage with the app too!

Works well, loses connection occasionally but not for long. Good starter item for a smart home.

Works majority of the time, every once in a while it won't communicate the first try but a second try works.
