The problem I had, though, was that it was made of shoddy plastic that cracked less than a week after I bought it. And it was not as if I was being terrible rough with it.

Bass is strong and natural. Very comfortable to wear with glasses on. Controls are easy to manipulate even "blind". I would rate these well ahead of significantly more expensive units. I strongly recommend.
