Good value & easy overclocking

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally installed this CPU on my Z490 motherboard in order to test out PCIe gen 4.0 speeds. After doing a BIOS update and configuring my GPU's PCIe slot to run at x8 width, I was able to achieve PCIe 4.0 speeds but was disappointed to find out that my motherboard didn't support gen 4.0 for any of the onboard m.2 slots. Once I was able to upgrade to a Z590 motherboard I was very happy to have my GPU and m.2 SSD running at PCIe gen 4.0x16 & PCIe gen 4.0x4 width respectively. Overclocking to a max turbo frequency of 4.8 GHz using the Intel Performance Maximizer tool was quick and easy after making a single BIOS change.

It's an i7-11700k. That's about it.

Decent for Servers

Owned for 5 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for a server PC, 11th gen is a good bang for your buck if going from a 4th gen I7-4790k. for virtualization and a server PC that host games, having consistency between all cores with a higher clock rate than a typical server processor is also important if youre not looking to spend thousands on a a modern scalable Processor from intel.

Make sure you have enough cooling for this card
