    The Gamer's CPU

Upon building my gaming rig for 2019, the first thing I had to greatly consider was the CPU. It was decidedly between the i9-9900K and the i7-9700K. I decided upon the i7-9700K because extensive research kept proving again and again that if you are primarily using your computer for the function of gaming, there is a very slight difference between the two. As far as how it performs in the aforementioned category, EXTREMELY well. I have it paired with a RTX 2080 and there seems to be very little bottlenecking going on here. I have the processor overclocked at 5.2Ghz where it will happily sit at about 65 degrees attached to an AIO Corsair H150i. All in all, temps are manageable, speeds are phenomenal, and the price is while a little on the expensive side; worth the price of admission. If you're looking for the best, this is it.

Buy with confidence - Elite gaming CPU

If you don't get this CPU, get the 9900K for a little extra. But the 9700K is everything you need for high level gaming. 8 core / 8 thread - blazing fast. Exceptional single core and multi core speeds. Easily OCs to 5.0 to 5.2 across all cores. Some users report that this chip runs hot, however, my Corsair H100 AiO keeps the 9700K under 60C under the heaviest loads and never over 40C at idle or during light work. If you're budget oriented and need an overall productivity machine, consider Ryzen - if primarily building a gaming rig, go Intel. 9700K is a champ

Even though we lost hyperthreading, this thing is still a beast. I am seeing a notable difference in my gaming; fewer slowdowns and quicker loadings. The security has been improved too: hardware fixes at the silicon level for spectre and meltdown. Compared to the 9900K, this thing is worth the money and a must own for the hardcore gamer. If your a professional gamer or streaming for youtube, where every GHz matters, only then would you need the 9900K. But if not then the 9700K is for you.

I was debating about getting the i9 but decided it was too much for me and my gaming setup. So I bought this processor along with z390 MSI MEG ACE motherboard. Had no issue overclocking the i7 to a stable 5.0ghz. Its fast enough for my setup and im one happy customer. Would recommend to any gamer out their.

For most people upgrading from a 6th or 7th gen intel (non K cpu) this is a great buy that provides so much more peformance for your buck. However, if you are like me and have overclocked both kabylake (7700k) & coffeelake (8700k) systems, then you may be in for a disappointment. If you really want to upgrade, maybe go for the i9 instead or even a mid-tier to higher end AMD cpu.

Multiple applications and programs running paired with good RAM proves to be an awesome experience. This processor doesn’t break a sweat utilizing very few cores whatsoever running tons of applications including games and streaming videos as well. Excellent processor for anyone thinking of streaming/recording gameplay and using task heavy design software.

So far I havent had an issues with this CPU. I currently keep it locked at 4.9 Ghz on all cores because the performance vs heat is ideal. I was able to get a stable overclock at 5.2 Ghz on all cores but it was a little warmer than I wanted for everyday gaming. Still puts up impressive numbers at 4.9 and the 5.2 In Cinebench I got 1610 @4.9 and 1680 at 5.2

Rebuilt my gaming rig with a Aorus Master and this 9700k. Granted it runs a bit warm stock, a strong 360mm rad took fantastic care of the heat. Benchmarks are strong, and this CPU handles my plex server transcoding and more easily. Gaming is fantastic and idle it uses very little power. Worth the upgrade from a 4790k

Bought the CPU online and picked up in my local store. Bought this particular CPU to be used on my new gaming setup. It’s been wonderful, combined with a noctua fan setup I never worry about temp and so far everything I’ve thrown at it, it’s been able to handle.

Processor is great, I haven’t had any heating issues while overclocked. Running a Corsair h100i. If price isn’t an issue I would recommend this processor. Make sure to price match though as you can find better deals.

Purchased for a custom build, it overclocks to 5.1 with low vcore. 8 full cores of PC performance great for gaming builds. Cons, No hyper threading with this processor but it’s performance is beastly highly recommended.

I started with a Ryzen 5 1600x in my build and I was looking for something with more power. I wasn't disappointed. I have it at a solid 4 ghz and its more than fast and powerful for my everyday gaming. love this product

Was torn between this and the 9900 ...settled on this model because it runs cooler and works great for my needs! Paired it with the Corsair h115 platinum inside a Micro case ...runs nice and cool ...performs as expected!

I was worried with the I7 9700K not having hyper-threading, but with everything I do the raw cores just work.. I am surprised how good this chip performs and it doesn't run too hot with a small overclock.

Great processor that makes me regret buying a 9900k in a previous build. True 8 core processor will give you the performance you need and processor had a flat face upon opening and will make you happy on Cinebench

The 9700k is an 8 core CPU without hyperthreading. The processor performance is excellent and I have no issues keeping it cool using a Corsair 240 mm AIO, which I also purchased through Best Buy.

Very fast! Installed on my Asus MB, it was easy, and came right up and ran. You do want a good cpu cooler as they will run hot, but with a good cooler, runs cool. Mine runs around 30 degrees C.

The Intel i7 9700k is a great processor, but whether you want to spend the extra money on this one, or just go with the 8700k is up to you. They have near the same performance.

I was super lucky that I was able to find an i7 9700k and I’m so glad I did. It’s well worth the upgrade from the i5 and at a better price point than the i9 9900k.
