I have a 2016 MacBook Pro which ONLY has USB-C (and a headphone jack) and I had hoped that this product would fulfill my one dongle dream (I don't judge your dreams, don't judge mine). The hub itself is well constructed and has all of the requisite ports; 3 USB, Ethernet, SD/ µSD, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, and VGA (?!?!?) as well as offering power pass-through. The biggest setback is that for the Mac it only supports a single monitor. To be fair, the documentation does state this clearly if you read far enough. Hence, I am relegated to a second dongle to connect another monitor. For just over $100 though this does what I would expect (with a few caveats listed below). I would be somewhere in the $250+ range for a hub that claims to support dual monitors and all of the other ports provided by the IOGEAR. THE CAVEATS: • Although the wedge shape is intended to work as a rest for your laptop, I highly suggest that you do not place your laptop on the hub. After about an hour of heavy use my laptop and hub were burning hot and the device overheated and stopped working. Fortunately, after cooling off it began to work again. • Frequently, when plugging the hub into my laptop some of the ports do not work (primarily the HDMI display). I have found that unplugging the hub from the power rectifies the issue and then I can plug the power back in and it works normally. Not sure why, but so far it has resolved the issue every time. • The ethernet port does not click into place. Not only does it not give you the satisfying sound of connectivity, but it can also fall out easily if bumped. • I know I already said this, but it does NOT support dual monitors for Mac.

I have a small dongle unit for when I'm traveling but this bar is an absolute must for the office. It doesn't quite fit my 13" MacBook Pro (meaning the two little dimples are too close to fin the foot-bumps on the bottom of the laptop) but this doesn't impair at all the function of the bar. It has all the ports you need to support a variety of accessories, hard drives, external monitor, network connection, SD cards, and so on. It heats up a bit where the power to the laptop comes out, but not excessively. Great value.

Was looking for an equivalent docking station type connector for a macbook pro (limited ports, just two type C). Sales person recommended this one with multiple and different slots. Allowed to connect a monitor and USB devices and audio out (albeit another cable from mac audio out was needed to connect it - wished the type C connector would have taken care of this as well! It performed for the last month or so without any problem. Wished the top was not as sleek and the two indentations on the top were better and with friction in order to easier position and hold the mac on it. Was worried to keep the mac on it since it was afraid it might slide off. However, I quickly found out the device gets hot and I would recommend keeping the mac on it - I would advise to keep them separate. One could purchase a couple of different dongles (costing about $60 to 70) but would not get the features and different ports on this one ($95). I wished I was able to connect more than one monitor since the ports are available but see manufacturers comment on this. Overall, happy with it and it does what is indented to do!

Better than most, not quite a 1 cable solution

Has all of the ports I need. Do wish they would add a display cable port instead of VGA? As other reviewers note, it gets warm, but has yet to be an issue for me. I obsessed over getting drivers and settings right trying to make it a one cable solution. Constantly had display problems with second and third display (I'm using with a laptop). I finally gave up on the one cable idea and now use regular powered USBc cable for laptop power, and this hub in another USB-c input for everything else. Works great this way. No issues. Based on my experience and other reviews, I have a feeling that this single cable display issue is with the PC' sand Macs, and not this device. I had a very noticeable LAN speed increase vs my old USB-3 hub. If you're ok with plugging in two USB C cables for multiple display use, it's a great option.

I love that this is portable and has all of the ports I would need to hook my laptop to monitors and such. I like how sleek it is and that my laptop can rest in the divots probably... it was a little expensive but I think it was well worth it!

Nice with all the ports I needed, thin size is good. My issue is that it pulls a lot of power from my LG laptop. Even when my laptop is plugged into a wall outlet, the power goes down fast. I have to undock this device for a while to let my laptop charge back up, which is inconvenient at times. Would good if there were a way to plug this into a wall outlet instead of charging through the laptop.

I bought this 2 years ago and even though this has a one year warranty only thing that doesn't work is the tf memory card slot and possibly a 3.0 usb slot but there is still 2 usb slots that are functional. Its pretty cool cause I mainly used it for my mac book pro . This device has so many slots for different things so you'll never need another adapter. This also works for my Samsung galaxy s20 plus !!! I can connect from hdmi to TV with the phone and Mac now .

I like this product because it doesn’t hook directly into the 2 usb-c ports on my laptop. I didn’t like the idea of something hooking to both ports in case It broke it could damage both ports.this Hooks into 1 usb-c port via a cable and seems safer to me plus you can sit your laptop on it for an angle. I think the price was slightly high for it though. So far it’s working great. I can download photos via the as card reader run a monitor and power my external hard drive with ease .

My MacBook only has a usb-c connection for power and no way to plug in a flash drive or monitor or headphones etc. I wanted to be on a conference call with a headset not AirPods. This did the job. However when issuing it plugged in to power as well for long periods of time it gets warm. So knocked a point off for that issue as it could be hazardous.

I bought this alongside a Samsung Notebook 9 Pro but had to eventually return the product. While it worked fine with my laptop's charger, the power output from the adapter was not compatible with my laptop. That issue aside, it is a compact adapter that has all the common ports you would typically need.

After checking a few other stations this one does the trick to connect my HP Spectre to dual monitors. It also gave me additional USB ports for a wireless mouse and External Drive.

I want to preface this by saying that I am a software developer and occasional PC gamer, so my standards may be higher than the average business user. I bought this docking station purely to put all USB and network connections behind one USB-C port. It works great for that, but I don't know that I'd want to use it for too much more. The audio card is...adequate, but certainly not as good as the one that came with my (gaming) laptop. I don't think I'd bother with the video passthroughs, but I will say that the card readers are a very nice touch. Bottom line, this docking station (I'd rather call it a port replicator) works great for my purposes, but my purposes were to make it easier to unplug my laptop when I want to go somewhere. I still use the Thunderbolt 3 port for dual monitors, as well as the built-in audio card. I believe this device could do in a pinch, but is not likely to work well as a daily driver.

At the start we struggled with getting proper connection from our devices to our new Mac Pro. Since this device was not manufactured by Apple we were concerned it was due to the device. After working with our set up now for a few days it appears we are getting proper signal through this unit to the items we are plugging into. Tim will tell, if it continues to work as designed it is a great value compared to what you can get from Apple.

This is a great product to have for the MacBook. You don’t need the extra cable to use a USB drive and you have extra ports. MacBook Pro 15 doesn’t sit on this so you have to put it behind or to the side so if space is an issue you may not want to buy this one.

I’ve really enjoyed this docking station. It is easy to use and syncs with my Mac immediately without any problems. The only negative is the base of my 13” laptop doesn’t align exactly where the holes on the docking station lie.
