It worked for the first 2 weeks and now constantly disconnects from wifi and does not start. So disappointed with this product. Never had such a difficult time using any of my other roombas.

Vacuum does not stop cleaning once it starts regardless the predicted cleaning time on the app. The vaccum ran for 9 hours until I manually sent it home. It would recharge for 5 min despite battery being very low and continue cleaning. This is very annoying. It cleans well but until the software gets updated it’s not worth $899 price tag. iRobot used be great but quickly being replaced by cheaper and better products.

This vaccum is not good. Constantly gets stuck or wont return to dock even when its out in the open. When it goes back to the dock to charge and resume it doesnt actually resume, it just starts over. Do not buy

Like the title says stay away from this company!!! I used to be the biggest fan of irobot i have been purchasing their robots sonce 2005 at least 2-3 units a year as gifts/ just upgrading my own units! They were #1 but are the worst! Go look st my review ofbthe 205 (i bought this one to replace it) just tgis one was just as bad poor app and robot software! Tge unit also has absolutely no cleaning power it says it is the most powerful one they have ever made definitely not the S9 was. Also i am not for sure what the future of iRobot is since they said in their earnings call they dont think they will make it until the end of the year! So PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY AWAY FROM ANY IROBOT PRODUCT!!!

Background: I own two previous vacuum robots: a Roomba since 2019 and a Shark since 2024 The Roomba Max 705 is the latest vacuum and it’s impressive. Once fully charged, I had the Roomba map the entire upstairs area. Once mapped, I was ready to release it and see what it can do. The positives: - The improved navigation and cameras have made this Roomba achieve what no other robot vacuum had achieved: Not getting stuck on the stairs. Our stairs are at a 45-degree angle, so normally, I would have to put a child fence at the stairs to avoid the other robots from getting stuck. Imagine my surprise seeing the Roomba not get stuck. - With the other robots, somehow it would pull dust from the carpet and sometimes it would fly slightly into the air and then land on the railings. My wife definitely didn’t like this, especially if she had just cleaned and polished the railing earlier in the day or one day prior. No issues with this Roomba. A small improvement, but a great improvement at the same time. The negatives: - The size. The Roomba 705 is a pretty big robot in comparison to my other robots. In this instance, this is not a good thing. Because of its size, it can reach certain corners that the other could. Also, because of the raised top, it’s too tall to go under the sectional sofa that I have in my game room. Now, I am going to assume there is not much dirt and dust under the sectional, but the fact that it cannot go underneath is something to think about. Overall, the Roomba Max 705 is highly recommended and it will be used every week.

The Roomba Max 705 is a great Robot vacuum. It has been several years since I have used a robot vacuum and I’m blown away at how far this technology has come. The sensor technology, LIDAR and auto empty function are all amazing features. Once you get this little guy unboxed, you will most definitely need to download the Roomba Home app. Here you will first want to update the firmware of the Roomba. This part may take a bit of time but just be patient and let it do its thing. You will then want to follow the instructions in the app, let the Roomba map out the areas you want cleaned. From there you can label the map, set areas to clean, or not clean. The app and the technology here is awesome! Performance wise the Roomba 705 has great suction and cleans very well. Whether it’s a hard floor or a carpeted surface, it gets the job done. It will detect and avoid obstacles, cords (usually), toys and other objects. It does an amazing job at this and I was very impressed. The docking and emptying function works great also. When the Roomba is finished, it will back into its dock and auto empty the debris and will be ready to head out once more! As long as you have the dock on a flat and level surface, you shouldn’t have any issues with debris falling out and everything should work as intended. The Roomba 705 is really great and is a welcomed addition to our home and cleaning arsenal. I think I need one for the upstairs as well! A great brand name and I think anyone who picks this up will be more than satisfied. Definitely recommend!

I recently moved to a place that has 2 cats and both are shedders. I thought Id be able to keep up with them with our regular vacuum, but unless I used it daily it wasnt possible. So a vacuum that can keep multi floor types clean and runs on its own was a must. In the box you get the auto vacuum, auto dock, extra bag, and extra filter. The initial set up was very easy to do following the apps instructions. Getting everything mapped and put together wasnt difficult at all. After the set up the vacuum will “learn” the layout and may seem to be doing its own thing, but didnt take long to get it figured out. I was very surprised at the power it has getting the fur up from the deeper carpet areas. I thought I would have to do a follow up with my normal vacuum, but was very happy with how well it did on all our floors. It of course doesnt get everything, but comes pretty close. And Id take pretty close over having to vacuum every day with our other vacuum. Now of course our cats didnt exactly like this thing at first. One runs and hides the whole time, the other monitors it as it does its thing. But Im sure in time theyll adjust. I plan on getting a kitten soon, so it should be interesting to see how it reacts to it. The smart features are great as well. The way it can determine suction strength, or decide to go back to the station for a quick charge is awesome. And once its all set up and your happy with whats its doing you can pretty much forget it. But of course there is light maintenance though. But its very easy and doesnt require it very often.

I'm still a little bit on the fence about this one. The smaller footprint and improved navigation are welcome upgrades. It uses full LIDAR mapping now and maps the home exponentially faster and more accurately than prior models. The materials and build quality feel cheap -- but the lighter weight also seems to result in better battery life. Time will tell if it's as long-lasting as its predecessors and if the build quality was worth the tradeoff. It's louder than the previous model, but also speedier. The bin empties from the back and I'm pleasantly surprised at how it hasn't gotten stuck anywhere yet. Both my J7+ and S9+ got stuck on a regular basis - either under the treadmill or under the recliner, but the 705 Max is very self-sufficient so far. I worried that the emptying connector wouldn't create enough of a seal to empty the bin, but it empties reliably each time. The corner brushes just pop on now instead of requiring a small Phillips screwdriver. Roller brushes and filters from the last model fit this one too. Be forewarned that you'll have to use the new Roomba Home app with this model. It's still a little clunky and a work in progress. The menus aren't nearly as intuitive now, but I'm sure iRobot will get the kinks worked out shortly. Roombas are still my favorite robot vacuums, and this model is worth the upgrade.

I have a split level house and after having one Roomba for my upstairs, I had to get a second one for the downstairs. Setting it up and syncing the app is fairly straight forward, just follow the step by step instructions and you’ll be up and running in no time. My downstairs is 1300sq feet with two small rooms and one large room so it took a couple of passes for it to map everything correctly. It’s also able to clean the whole area on one pass which is really nice. After one week of use it still hasn’t missed a spot. The dual brushes do a great job cleaning up and with two dogs, it’s does fantastically well getting their hair up. I really like that I can use the app to have it make a second pass or I can tell Alexa and she’ll dispatch it to clean. Lastly it’s been ran everyday and even with pet hair, the catch basin isn’t even close to being full. The box days 75 days between emptying but the jury’s still out on that one. Beautifully designed, high quality and intuitive app/features make this a must own for any house!!

This iRobot Roomba Max 705 Vac Robot Vacuum with an AutoEmpty Dock has been a very pleasant surprise for our family. We usually use stick vacuums to clean our Persian rugs and wood floors as well as tile in the kitchen however the the recent robotic vacuum expansion and availability in the market, it is really hard to find one that would do the job. I am sure you are reading this review and also trying to find out whether or not this would be your perfect helper to keep your rooms clean and free of dust. Well here is my take on this Roomba. 1. Suction power is the most important feature in any vacuum and this Roomba Max 705 does not disappoint. When running a number of tests, I used sand and dried coffee grains on the tile floor as well as embedded it in a small rug we have in our kitchen. When my Roomba Max ran over it a few times, it picked up 95% of the sand and picked up all the coffee grounds without any problems. It is not a loud robovac however the suction part works as designed. I could not find out how many Psa it has, but it definitely cleans the surfaces well. 2. Ease of use. I really like the app, it is straightforward and has a number of features to explore. You can select to clean individual rooms and adjust suction power as well. 3. Auto Emptying Dock is a life saver for us. This vacuum automatically empties all the dust contents into its tower, no more dealing with trash cans and trying to clean your dust bin. One thing I wish the manufacturer did - provide a few more extra dust bags for us. One bag can be replaced every 2 to 3 months depending on how often you run your vacuum. 4. Mapping our house was done quickly thanks to its CLEARVIEW PRO LIDAR. I know a number of other manufacturers use 3D cameras, etc. but I think with LiDar you cannot go wrong and it always maps precisely on the first run. 5. I really like the design of the brush. It has rubber brushes that flex and adjust and stay in constant contact with all floor types. I hope its longevity will be good but I am also sure you can buy a new roller in a year or so if need be. A few recommendations for the future Roombas: 1. I would like to see a bigger dust bin, that way you can clean larger areas. 2. Find a way for hair not to be entangled in the wheels of the robovac. 3. I hope to receive consistent firmware updates for at least a year or so.

This is a piece of garbage and has had to be returned and replaced once. Now Irobot says it won’t work correctly until they update and find a fix for the software. Also, I’m one day late to save $200,00. I paid 899.99 now it’s 699.99.

The iRobot-Roomba Max 705Vac Robot Vacuum is a high end robot vacuum featuring an auto empty dock. The dock utilizes old school looking vacuum cleaner bags that will make emptying the collected dust and trash simple, quick and clean compared to bagless vacuums. The robot-vac empties into the dock when the vacuuming routine finishes or as the robot-vac fills up as needed. The dock claims to hold up to 75 days of collected debris. The vac also returns to the dock to recharge as needed. I never saw the battery level approach empty on the app but the robot-vac did return to the dock to charge a couple of times. The robot-Vac has an AI guided lidar navigation and mapping system that appeared to have done an incredibly detailed job at mapping the section of the house I chose to use it in. The navigation system was even able to identify the purpose of several rooms (kitchen, bathroom, hallway). This vac even gets under our chairs and recliners. The area I chose was about 3500 square feet. It took well over half a day for the detailed mapping and first vacuuming run. Since the initial run, I am able to instruct it to vacuum only chosen areas with the app. I choose the high traffic areas and ignore the seldom used rooms and the vacuum routine is much faster. There are 4 suction levels that the vac uses. When the vac crosses from a hard surface to carpet it automatically increases suction. When the vac senses dirtier areas it increases suction and at times makes several passes at the area. Instead of a rotating brush that most vacuums use, this unit has 2 textured rubbery cylinders that pick up everything. The rubbery cylinders seem to not get clogged like the brushes. Our cat has gone from afraid to liking to follow the robot to at times lying nearby and watching. When the robot attempts to go where the cat is lying it seems to get "confused". It tries multiple angles to continue on its route and finally stops. My guess is that the cat not being on its map "does not compute". When using my old robot-vac, I put a broomstick at the entrance to my gas log fireplaces to keep the vac out. This robot vac was able to traverse the broomsticks and began sucking up the lava-gravel. I need to figure out how to mark these areas as "off limits" in the app. This vac is a huge improvement over my previous one. It gets into places the other one ignored. It has done a great job of picking up everything in its path. I have yet to have to empty it.

Trying to keep up with vacuuming is a never-ending chore, especially with kids and pets. Robot vacuums have been around for a while now, but there are features that certainly set them apart. Having one that self-empties at end of a run is what sets apart the nicer models from the lesser models. This empties itself and it's wonderful. Out of the box, there is very little assembly. There is a small brush to attach, then charge it up and let it figure out the area that will soon be keeping clean. Make sure that the little brush is firmly attached, or it will fall off during the first run. The first time the phone application is fired up, it will have the Roomba map the room or rooms that will be cleaning. Don't mistake this as an actual cleaning run. I was shocked that it had completed so quickly and knew that it had not vacuumed the whole area. When I ran it the second time, it took a long time to complete and did a very thorough job. It's incredible that it has sensors that can detect when it approaches a ledge, such as the stairs. This is truly an intelligent machine that knows its way around the house. There are two areas where I wish it would do better. First, it doesn't seem to get very close to the edges of walls or objects. Second, it is much louder than others I have used. This is likely due to a better-quality roller than others. The roller appears to be made of either silicone or rubber and isn't as quiet as brushes. Overall, this is a great addition to the home, and I wish I had two more. It's great to let it do the work for me. Having the ability to schedule changes is a powerful feature. The application also allows one to set the level of cleaning to perform.

Vacuuming, and especially mopping, are not my favorite chores to do around the house. Both activities along with sweeping really wreak havoc on my lower back. But as a pet owner, I must do these things frequently as pet hair is everywhere! I've owned other models of robot mop-vacuums, including two very high-end units. Those, although touted as being sleek and compact still took up a lot of space in whichever corner I placed them in. The Roomba has less of a footprint, this was the first thing I noticed straight away. I have a two-story apartment, and since these can't climb stairs yet, I set the Roomba up on the second floor. No version of these machines are going to be whisper quiet, but I also noticed the Roomba seems to make the least amount of noise. Dog still isn't a fan! Cat left the room. I had no trouble programming it, mapping and pairing to my phone was easy enough. Although it's only made its way around twice, it's keeping the floors very clean. I'd say around approx 600 sq feet? I love knowing the bathroom floor is getting a cleaning regularly as well. Self cleaning afterwards. You will have to actually empty the reservoir sometimes of the dirty water, but I haven't had to yet. In fairness, it does seem to stick on the thinner floor covering I have in my bedroom, but so did the stick-vac I'd used previously. It gets into corners for the most part, but won't get behind doors unless you pull them away from the wall enough for the unit to get back there. I'm also still mindful of leaving anything too large on the floor that might be sucked up, this is such a nice machine! I prefer it to the bulkier models in this same price range.

I am a vaccum fanatic meaning, I not only love to vaccum since I think its theraputic, I just like to see clean floors and like to see vaccums cleaning floors. iRobot in my opnion is the king of developing robot vaccums that are both intuitive and work in conjunction with a easy to use app on your phone to not only set up your home with easy maps of each room, but also allow for simple knowledge about your vaccum and cleaning scheduling etc. What I like about this new Max 705 is how compact the base station is compared to previous larger footprint base stations that took up a lot of space. The vaccum itself design has not changed much, looks a little more sleeker and is a little smaller but has the same functionality and does the same jobs with dual rollers on bottom and waste compartment. The pet hair is easily swept up like usual and the vacuum moves automatically back to the base station with ease to empty itself. I am and always have been a fan of iRobot products and highly recommend this device.

My last Roomba was one of the cheaper models. It had great cleaning power but boy was it like having a jet engine go off throughout the house once a day and it wasn’t a perfect clean. Now I’m upgrading with the Max 705 and WOW what an incredible upgrade. I’m doing a lot less vacuuming of my own. I’m not having to move nearly as much stuff out of the cleaning path. Which is great because as a techie with poor cable management skills there are cords everywhere. I was also incredibly surprised but just how fast it completed it’s clean! I’m averaging about an hour per cleaning session on my 1000 sq ft house. When it ends, it empties into the base station so I really do just set it and forget it. The app is very pretty and while it’s a little confusing to navigate at first I do have a good handle of it now. My worries are similar to previous models. There are a lot of parts that require replacement. It makes sense, but I would like more cleanable reusable parts to reduce waste. The larger issue is that the front of the device has a large camera on it. It feels weird but also it is the world we live in and honestly I’m willing to roll the dice as I have 3 cats and a dog so a daily cleaning needs to happen. It’s a little pricey but as someone with a mix of flooring, so many pets, and lots of junk on the ground, I’m absolutely in love with the Max 705. The best compliment you can give a robovac is that you set it up and don’t worry about it. I have truly forgotten most days that I have a robovac and am only reminded of it by just how clean the house is staying. We just upgraded to the iRobot Roomba Max 705, and honestly—we couldn’t be happier. With two dogs and two cats, our floors are constantly under siege from fur and dirt, and this little machine has absolutely risen to the challenge. It keeps up better than we expected, and the house feels cleaner with way less effort on our part. The upgrade was 100% worth it. Highly recommend for any pet household!

Just upgraded my old robot with this new model, and I’m really happy so far. I like the smaller dock, and I like that it has lidar now. Cleans much better than my previous model.
