Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Roomba 890's cleaning performance, ease of use, and effectiveness in removing pet hair. Many appreciate its simple setup process, although some users found the navigation system needed improvement and reported issues with battery life and noise levels. The small dustbin size was also a common complaint. While some found the virtual wall helpful, others felt it could be improved.

I wanted to redo the hassle of taking the vacuum cleaner around and this met my requirement perfectly for a clean home without doing it myself.

    Dumb Robot

Had such high hopes for this thing. I really wanted to have a robot that would vacuum up all my chip crumbs while I just sat and watched TV. Turns out it takes less time to vacuum the old fashioned way than it does to keep this thing from getting stuck or just turning circles. One time it couldn't figure out how to get back on its base so it decided to go vacuum some more. Also the logo sticker wasn't centered on the machine and my OCD wouldn't allow that sort of thing. Anyway, it was returned and I used the money to buy more chips. Now I work off those chip calories by pushing a manual vacuum around.

It does a good job cleaning and is very quiet. The charging station does a good job of keeping it charged.

I have owned several of these and would definitely recommend. Vacuum can get under bed, which I love the most. Device automatically docks itself when done cleaning. What more can you ask for?

So, you want a roomba. Is this a good roomba? Kinda Whats in the box: The roomba (Well call him Waldo, because you will constantly be finding your self saying "where's Waldo"), home base, extra filter, one electronic wall. Setup: Very easy. I had waldo out of the box, plugged in, and connected to wifi in a matter of minutes. There was enough charge in him to get him cleaning almost right away. Waldo actually speaks as well to help during setup. Use: You can schedule, 7 days a week, with different times to allow Waldo to clean on his own. You can also manually start a cleaning session by hitting his button, or using the app on your phone. How well does he clean? Ok. As most of you know, until you get to the 960 or 980, the Roomba is dumb. Like irritate you while you watch it dumb. My recommendation is to let Waldo do his thing when you're not home, or you will be screaming at him. Waldo will aimlessly bounce around while cleaning, with no pattern. While this allows it to clean extra well in some spots, it completely misses other spots in the house. These dumb Roomba's are not really made for multi room cleaning, if you want that, get a 960 or higher with the better navigation. Overall: I've ran Waldo 10 times now, on one level with around 2000 square feet, with around 4 rooms in that area. Each time he runs, he gets different spots. This is both good and bad. We run Waldo 7 days a week, so after a couple days most of the level is clean, but he will not do all the rooms each run. Some days he completely skips rooms, while other days thats basically the only room he does. The way docking works is, once Waldo things a job is complete (I'm not actually sure how he thinks its complete), or when the battery runs low, he starts searching for his home base. By searching, I mean he just bounces around like an idiot and hopefully he ends up within 7 or so feet of his home base, THEN he gets all excited and goes towards it. So, if he gets stuck in a room, he will bounce around until his battery dies, since he doesn't actually know where home is. The bad parts so far: 1. First run, his bin full indicator turned on. I emptied it, and the light stayed on, no matter how much I cleaned him. I had to chat with online tech support. They had me do a software reset (easy) and the light turned off. Also on first run, he couldn't find his home base, and bounced around in my walk in closet for 30 minutes and the battery died. 2. Second run: Bin light works as its supposed to, Waldo bounced around in living room for 47 minutes and battery died. 3. Third-current (10 or so) runs: Waldo has managed to find his home base each time! Making an adorable "I made it daddy!" sound each time. Problem is, the stupid bin full light doesn't always shut off after I empty him. It will after it docks, but if you just pause the cleaning run and empty and continue, the light will stay on each time. I think its VERY sensitive to dirt, and I have a dog and cat with dander, so that doesn't help. Wifi: This touts wifi connectivity, but you don't get much with it. It does make scheduling easy, and you get push messages when Waldo is in trouble, but thats about it. Overall: cleans well, but with a few quirks. If the worst thing I have to do is pick him up and bring him home sometimes, but yet I have clean floors. Thats not a deal breaker. If you want your entire level cleaned each time....get the higher end models. If you want an adorable dumb dumb bouncing around your house. Get this one.

Easier to use on a low level carpet versus mixed use surfaces. Wood floors are the best.

I bought this because we have a dog and was hoping it would help to reduce the fur balls. This has exceeded my expectations. It keeps both our hard surface and carpet floors very clean.

Roomba wasnt as reliable as i expected. As a trusted brand, i expected the product to last but after 6 months the vaccuum stopped holding a charge and became unusable. Needless to say, i was happy to have purchased 2 year geek squad protection which refunded my entire purchase the same day.
