It's better than other series and cheaper than 980 but doesn't have better battery life as 980

Really good product. I do wish the battery lasted longer than 75 minutes. I would recommend it.

I cannot get the Roomba to complete a cycle in my 1500 sf house without filling up the bin or running out of battery. No pets. all hardwood floors and a few area rugs.

I love the Roomba when it does what I expect. Cleans great but has a lot of issues recharging and going "home" when the battery is low. I expected this to work better than the results I'm getting. I still like it but expected better automation for the price.

We have used this everyday day since purchasing it a month ago. It is phenomenal! I like that it can be scheduled to run via the app when you are away from home. I don't like that battery will only allow the roomba to operate for an hour before it needs charging. Also the cartridge that collects the dirt/dust is small so depending on how dirt your floors are that could mean every 15 or 30 mins it will need emptying.

We have 2 long haired cats and 2 large dogs with hard wood floor and lots of rugs. It seemed that this Unit struggled to find its home base when battery was low and never could finish a cycle and return home. We ended up exchanging for the 980 model and are very happy with that one. This one just wasn't rugged enough for our needs. This model maybe fine for a different environment.

Works very well. The filter has to be cleaned regular. Battery drains quickly on low area rugs. It helps me keep up with having three dogs. Good quality and durable!

The roomba is extremely convenient and easy to set up. However the battery life is only about 60-75 minutes. With that it took 4 charges for "Roobi" to vacuum my mothers 1700 sq ft condo. Also the bin is so small it needs emptying so frequently that it keeps you from being able to just ignore the roomba and let it do the work for you. Exchanged for the 980 model and battery life is better but not significantly.

This is a great item for small room cleaning. The battery is supposed to last for 75 minutes, which should be more than enough for even a large room. Unfortunately, my unit has a battery life of 50 minutes, which doesn't allow for complete cleaning with the random walk the vacuum takes through the room. It also has trouble finding the home base when not line-of-sight, which is a bit annoying. But it does a good job cleaning, including the ability to get under beds and furniture without getting caught. Bottom line- I recommend the unit, but with serious reservations.

This thing rocks. We have mostly hardwood with 3 areas rugs. Our first floor is about 1800sf and this thing works great. Only down side is it takes a few hours to clean the entire floor since the battery only last 70 mins. But it remembers where it stopped so no big deal. We also are able to bring it to different levels of the house and it does works great.

I original purchased the Roomba 860 it had plenty of suction it just did not navigate very well. It was more a random pattern. This 960 is just what I wanted, it is VERY smart. It navigates effortlessly getting all spots. It picks up very well, surprisingly well! It does use more battery when vacuuming carpet. It's no problem because it will go back and charge then finish the job exactly where it left off. If I had high pile carpet I would opt for the 980. I don't know how I lived without one of these!

    1. Destroyed 2 of my rugs 2. The navigation system is flawed, it would literally clean the same areas over and over again until the battery ran low and then just stopped. 3. Virtual wall barriers were worthless, worked some of the time. You need multiple units to block off one area. 4. Very harsh on rugs, the bin would be full immediately from pulling fibers from the rugs. 5. If the room is dark, it wouldn't clean properly

    Waste of money

My husband bought the iRobot Roomba 960 for me as a Christmas present in 2018. I'm convinced it's the biggest waste of money my household spent all year. - It gets stuck everywhere. It'll suck up the corner of an area rug and get stuck. It'll forcefully wedge itself under appliances and furniture and get stuck. It gets stuck under the fridge, under the dishwasher, under the couch and under the entertainment center. To prevent it from getting stuck in such places I've been wedging shoes all around the house. The technology for sensing barriers is just not good enough, and it's not only evident in how the robot gets stuck, it's also seen in how it rams itself into walls and permanent objects it *should* know are there. In fact, it rammed and wedged itself so hard on our entertainment center that the plastic ring on the front broke in half. - It does little to nothing on area rugs. While the robot seems to do fine vacuuming hardwood floors, area rugs have visible amounts of lint and hair left behind. It just does not do enough in these areas of the home. So while iRobot claims this unit works on carpet, I shudder to think how much lint, dirt and hair are getting left behind for people with wall to wall carpet. - It frequently gets confused and cancels the job in the middle of the room because it can't find its home base. Even after the unit has been running for weeks, and should "remember" the layout of the house, it still gets confused all the time and shuts down. Even in the middle of the day, even at night when lights are on in *every* room, so it's not an issue of the robot not being able to see. - It'll lose it's battery during a job and power off in the middle of a room, cancelling the cleaning event. The unit *should* be smart enough to sense its battery is getting low, return home and charge, and then finish the job, but half the time it does not do this. It instead just dies and cancels the job. - It stops showing a map of the home after a few runs and I've to reboot it. - It complains that the bin is full when it's not. Another instance where I've to reboot the robot. This unit's an overpriced toy that is not worth the money or hassle.

We bought a house with dark hardwood and we have pets. We've a cordless vacuum we used numerous times a day to keep up. The roomba runs every day and makes a huge difference. We've had for about one year. One drawback is the bin fills up every couple days and has to be emptied. Another draw back is that it tries too hard to try to get up on a couple rugs we own and a fireplace hearth. It wastes too much time and battery trying to climb up on those items. I called tech support and suggested they add a setting to tell roomba not to try so hard to get up on rugs. We primarily want it for the hard woods. Tech support never got back with me regarding my suggestion.

Works OK, but gets stuck every time

The Roomba 960 does a great job on hardwood floors. The app is pretty decent and the mapping tool is cool. However, we have used it 8 times now while at work, and it has gotten stuck all 8 times. By the time we get home, the battery is dead and we have to reschedule for the next day. It gets stuck against furniture, yanks power cords out and then gets stuck on them, has climbed on top of a pair of shoes and gotten stuck, and climbed on top of some electronic equipment and scratched it all up. It navigates carpet/rugs of any height quite well, however all it does is suck up carpet/rug fibers and fill up the dirt container, so that even if it wasn't getting stuck it would be full and not able to finish the job. It also starts depositing large chunks of carpet/rug fibers around the house making things worse. We haven't had one complete job yet, which is getting frustrating for a $700 vacuum. I guess it would be OK if we were home to quickly get it unstuck, but I got this so I didn't have to be home and/or participate in the cleaning. Will be giving it a few more chances before I return.

This vacuum really almost had me sold on it, but a couple missing features convinced me otherwise. I really liked the idea of an app controlled robot vac that maps your house and allows you to remotely select a room for cleaning, for instance. When I read descriptions and reviews of this vacuum, I found myself believing that this was one of the features and went ahead and made the purchase. When I got home, I unfortunately realized this wasn't a feature of the 960 (or any iRobot vac, for that matter). I don't hold this against the 960 - I should've been more diligent in my research - but this was a feature I actually really wanted. I also thought the runtime for the battery was too short, given the shortcomings of its navigation. Around 75 minutes is actually a pretty impressive runtime considering its size, but even the improved navigation of the newer generation iRobot vacs still left it meandering aimlessly through my apartment necessitating multiple charges to get the job done for the day. And I guess I'm just not willing to shell out $200 more for the 980 that has a longer runtime. As a vacuum though? I was really impressed with its cleaning abilities - I realized I was a disgusting human being once I had to empty the collection bin. I'd recommend this for a smaller apartment, but not for larger apartments or homes.

We had another similar name brand "robot" vacuum, and it was wonderful. My wife constantly praised it, and showed it off all of the time to our visiting friends and family . But sadly, it broke down so many times (4) the company decided to give us our money back. Our lives became sad and dusty again. For many many months our household felt dark and alone like something was missing. Then I purchased the iRobot - Roomba 960 App-Controlled Self-Charging Robot Vacuum . This vacuum is a GEM! It actually looks like it knows where and what it's doing! When it's battery is tired it "finds" it's way back to the charger. We have two dogs and it does a phenomenal job at picking up all of the dog hair. We also have hard wood flooring and carpet which it does a seamless job adjusting to the floor heights. And most importantly, my wife is happy again! She walks around the house with a smile and a spring in her step! She yells out to the Roomba "Great job little buddy" from time to time. This doesn't make me jealous, I just look over at our iRobot - Roomba 960 App-Controlled Self-Charging Robot Vacuum and give it a wink and a hearty thumbs up, and think, Thanks Bro! "Seriously, it's a great machine and I highly recommend it"!

Best IRobot Roomba we have ever owned!

First the CONs: - The bin is a bit too small: One quarter bigger would be good but it's also nice that Roomba knows not continue when the bin is full - Battery life: Is good but not great. But the recharging feature is the bonus and almost makes battery life a non issue That's is for the CONs - and that's the reason why I'm giving it FOUR stars. Now the reasons why I love the Roomba 960: - Great cleaning quality - I was hesitant about the cleaning power of the 960 , but it definitely beat my expectations. Our home has been looking clean ever since I bought it. - Brains. I love watching the 960 clear obstacles and find its way around the house. - Noise. The 960 is definitely quieter than your average vacuum cleaner. I wouldn't say it's silent, but Roomba is the quietest Roomba we have ever owned. - Multi-room cleaning. The reason why I chose the 960 over the other models and has not let me down. - Easy to keep Roomba clean: Built into the app are video caring instructions and are super helpful Would I recommend it? Definitely yes. In fact, my only regret is not getting mine sooner
