Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Roomba 980's impressive cleaning performance, ease of use, and smart navigation. Positive feedback also highlights its effective pet hair removal, strong suction, and convenient app control features. However, some users find the robot vacuum to be noisy and have noted that the dustbin fills up quickly. The relatively high price point is also a recurring concern for some customers.

It took me quite a while to spend the money on this, but once I used it, I wished I had not waited so long. My dog sheds a lot, and I get hair tumbleweeds across my hardwood and ceramic floors, and most annoying, under my furniture. Rosie (my name for the Roomba) gets all that hard to reach hair with ease. It fits under all of my furniture with ease. The only spot it does not get under is in the kitchen, under the edges of the cabinets, there is not enough clearance for it. But for that, I grab my broom and do a quick sweep along the baseboards. I also have a very plush, high pile area rug which it cannot get on top of, but it is not a rug I would like vacuumed frequently. It gets on other area rugs (with varying heights) with ease. I highly recommend this!

This is the wonderful machine. I am using it for my office. You can cover the full 2000 ft.² providing that there's no major debris that could get struck in front of theBin sensor (leaf,post-it note). I sent this to run five times a week at 1 o'clock in the morning approximately. One out of seven times I will find it stuck on an elevated welcome mat or the under bar of a chair it rolled over, but the quality of the cleaning job it does out weighs it. The morning after I empty the bin and forget about it. Every week I take out the filter and knock out dirt jammed in there. If you don't do that regularly the suction goes down. Once a month I like to rinse it out. It doesn't damage the furniture and will get everywhere. It comes with two projectors that can prevent it from getting into unwanted areas by single straight line or a 4 foot radius (great for avoiding the Christmas tree. Like all roombas it uses a horizontal 3-brusn sweeper to get to the baseboard, but leaves about 3 inches from the baseboard with less of a deep clean.

The robot works well but it is a bit pricey for it's functions.. There are still parts of house which need attention and sometimes after finishing the vacuum, it won't go back to the charging dock. The good thing though, is that you don't have to vacuum the house yourself. It works good on carpets.

I first tried the Neato Connected because the reviews seemed positive and it was significantly cheaper. The Neato did not work for us because it got confused by shiny objects (toilet bowl) and would not respect the magnetic strips we put down to prevent it from getting caught on the thick carpet. We have not had any of these issues with the Roomba. The Roomba has been methodical in its work and has yet to get caught due to an error of its own. The Roomba obey's the virtual walls. It is methodical in its cleaning, typically operating in a straight lined fashion. At the end of the cleaning it goes around and cleans up the edges. Expensive but really helps keep the wood floor clean in between full house cleanings.

This very well may be one of the best purchases I've ever made. I have two cats and it's always a burden to have to vacuum once or twice a week to clean up all the hair and litter. With this, I come home from work and the house is fully cleaned and i get a notification when the job is complete. I absolutely love this robot. IF you are thinking of getting one, pull the trigger and buy it. You will not regret it.

We have two cats and a dog and a 4 month old. My wife never wanted to set our child down because his clothes would always be covered in fur unless we vacuumed every day. Getting the 980 has been AWESOME, as it does an amazing job at picking up all that fur every day and keeping our floors clean enough to be comfortable letting our baby play. The 980 is an awesome improvement over previous Roomba models. Our apartment is roughly 950 square feet and after the Roomba mapped it out, it can clean it almost entirely in one go. It does great on both carpet and linoleum, though it struggles sometimes going from our carpet to a pile rug in our living room. It's worth noting: no robotic vacuum is going to clean as efficiently or in as little time as a person. The point is to save you time by outsourcing the vacuuming. That said, the 980, because of its camera and room mapping, is one of the more efficient robotic vacuums I've seen. The only complaint: having three animals, there is a lot of fur. Sometimes the Roomba rollers don't quite suck up the fur and instead leave a little fur line after enough of it has rolled together. We'll find the little fur rolls around the house, maybe three or four a day. They are very easy to pick up and it still beats all that fur laying scattered on the floor! Just something Roomba could improve on.

This was my third Roomba purchase. The model 980 is SO much better than the prior models. No more of the crazy zig zag across the room. Setup was no hassle and the app is easy to use. Pricey but worth every penny!

I use only 3 times. The robot clean all rooms of my house, it can clean under furniture, under bed, avoid step down and return to home automatically. At beginning, it only clean less than one hour then recharge, after I install the program, update the soft ware, it can clean 1,5 h. The first time to connect the robot to my iPad is not easy, but company support people is nice, so I finally did it.

I love my Roomba 980. It bops around going under the bed and couches. It redoes areas where it sense dirt and it goes under toe kicks. I am a careful house cleaner with a central vac and this little bug continues to get lots of dirt and lint. It is quiet and the only problem we’ve had is when it sucked in a long ribbon attached to a Christmas present. I even find myself talking to it.

I owned the Neato Botvac Connected prior to the roomba 980. The Botvac unit decided to stop functioning so I had the option of exchanging it or receiving credit. I took the credit, and purchased this unit. Its a great device to have, I like it, and it does the job if you run it on a daily basis. If you compare it to the Botvac connected the Roomba 980 has its pros and cons. Performance wise, I cannot really tell the difference between the two when it comes to house cleanliness. In my opinion they are equal to the naked eye. I prefer the Roomba's brush vs the Neatos beacuse it needs to be cleaned less. What I mean by that is human (long) hair. The Neato's brush needs to be removed once a month and the hair needs to be cut from the brush compared to the roomba, the hair only gets jammed up at the end of the cylinder. The roomba needs to be cleaned from human hair once about 2 1/2 months. I also like the active barriers that come with the roomba, vs Neatos magnetic strip. Its far more convenient to move and place in desired locations, and its not an eyesore. Granted you have to replace the batteries on occasion but mine are still going and its been 3 months. Now where the Neato beats the Roomba 980 is navigation. The neato seems to have better navigation technology. It also can work in the dark vs the Roomba 980 needs some what of a lit room due to the camera. I have came home to find the roomba stuck because it entered the bathroom which has no windows. The app functanality of the Roomba is also slightly better than Neatos, however they constantily update the apps so that may change. Overall if you do not care about the price, get the Roomba 980. If price does matter get the Neato Botvac Connected. I believe, at the time of writing this its 400 dollars cheaper. The Roomba 980 is not worth its price tag based on performance or features, the neato matches it if not outperforms the Roomba 980. However like I said, the Roomba 980 does have its pros. So if you do not care about throwing money out get the Roomba 980.

Got the Roomba 980 as a present from my husband. Wasn't sure about it until I used it the first time, wow...what a great product. It truly is a helpful tool for this busy working lady with 2700 sq feet of hardwood floors and 300 sq feet of carpet. I thought it would miss spots and do a so-so vacuum job. It does not miss spots and the vacuum is very strong and picks up everything. Love it.

This little guy, we named him Roombeezie, is amazing! The technology in him that lets him accurately navigate my entire 1600 ish square foot home is amazing. And it's a used home, I have 2 girls 6 and 7 and a hundred pound yelllow lab who lives indoors he is a shedding fool. Pros: easy setup Hands free house cleaning More time to relax especially for my wife Helps me Remember to clean my clutter so the vacuum can do it's job House is always clean for company Cons: he is loud?? Not really no where near a normal vacuums level In review I imagine the first time a stay at home mom used a dish washer in what the 50s this is how they felt.

Since we’ve purchased our Roomba 980 (around 2 months ago), our Oreck hasn’t seen much action. It cleans equally as good as our Oreck vacuum. Setup is easy and programming over the network (home or away) is a breeze. I love the fact that it signals us that it is either done or stuck. Thank you iRobot. Life is good with one less thing to do around the house.

We had the roomba 850 and loved it. This new Roomba works so much more efficiently and gets the job done better and faster. We pretty much never have to vacuum ourselves and we have 3 indoor dogs. It keeps floor clean and saves us so much time. Really fascinating to watch and well worth the money.

We purchased our robot right after Xmas 2016 using a Best Buy gift card towards the purchase and we thought we would give the Roomba 980 a try based on the reviews. We really liked it at first but then when it got into our master closet and got caught under a clothes hamper, it tried rotating out and got all scratched up on the top cover. We called customer service on a Sunday to complain and they immediately offered to mail a new robot without even requesting the receipt! We were impressed...since then the robot works great, cleaning the whole house on one charge and finds its way back to the base to re-charge. The app feature is cool also on how you can start it from your iphone using Wifi. I recommend this robot for a long term cleaning device especially if you have pets that shed hair!!

I love this thing! It does a really nice job keeping up with the dirt and cat hair on my hardwood floors. The cleaning and mapping reports are fantastic! It's cool to see where the vacuum has been and how long it took to clean. I loved it so much I actually bought another one for upstairs! However, I haven't been as wowed by that one. I don't think it's due to the the vacuum, but instead the difference in obstacles on the floor. The second floor has transitions over a stone threshold that it sometimes slips on, which seems to make the robot get lost and generate inaccurate map reports. While it doesn't happen every time it vacuums, it does happen. The first floor vacuum has been rock solid though. Hopefully future software updates can improve on this.

I purchased two of these and didn't clean them as often as i should have so one died on me. I had a warranty and upgraded to the version that empties itself into a bag and the upgrade cost a lot more. But this version is much smarter and most importantly cleans better. The newer version leaves a bunch of do hair at the edge of my area rugs because it doesn't transition well. This older version is much louder and you can't really work at home with it buzzing but otherwise it is the best version they make to date. Just remember to clean it every 6 weeks or so. It really isn't hard and will make it last.
