Been a few months now and has started just stopping and spinning in circles. Claims it's stuck on an open floor. Bin sensor claims it's full when it's empty. I have a non refundable paper weight I'm going to destroy it with a hammer

The old ones are better! Bought last August, cheap plastic near the rollers are broke… I would buy an old school version if I was you….

Worst experience EVER! I purchased my robot roughly 1 month ago and since last night I keep on getting 4 errors on the app: c610, c660, c510 and c210. I've tried EVERYTHING, from rebooting the robot, my modem, my phone, installing and uninstalling the app and nothing seems to work... Called customer service and they have no clue onto how to solve this issue. Im pretty frustrated, robot is expensive and had the impresion that an expensive robot equals exeptional function, I was so wrong

The suction is not adequate to do a good job, the basin that holds dirt is not designed well as it clogged within the first few uses, and it was being emptied once or twice per use. It gets stuck on thresholds, and gets lost. Way too much trouble. Not a time saver.

I recently welcomed the Roomba Combo® j5 Vacuum/Mop into my home, and I must say, it's nothing short of a revolution in the world of automated cleaning. I have had two other robot vacuums, and for years have always wished there was a robo-vac with a wet mop to replace my Swiffering. The day has finally arrived and I am impressed how the device seamlessly combines the efficiency of a robot vacuum with the convenience of a mop, cutting down my cleaning regime significantly.

CONS:
- This version does NOT have the self-emptying dustbin. If I could do it over again, I would have prioritized the self-emptying to further automate my cleaning routine.
- Water Tank Capacity: I wish there was a larger tank, but then the device would have to be bigger. The price you pay for sleekness, but I do sometimes wish it went further.
- Noise Level: Although not as loud as my previous generations of robot vacuums, there is still a good amount of noise.
- Occasional Navigation Issues: My device gets stuck or “confused” sometimes in more dense areas of the house. Every once in a while I do have to pick it up to “save” it.
- Limited Deep Cleaning: While the mop and vacuum function is appropriate for handling light vacuuming or mopping tasks, it will never replace a manual deep cleaning. I like to use my Roomba for regular cleaning a couple times a week, but I still have to pull out my stick vacuum or Swiffer every once in awhile for a deep clean. For big messes, I can’t depend on the Roomba to get everything to my liking. It will never fully replace my stick-vac, but it is a welcome addition to make life easier and more automatic.
- Learning Curve: It took some getting used to with the wet to dry. It takes a few tries to get an understanding its navigation patterns and setting up cleaning schedules and mapping certain areas.
- Size and Obstacles: There is always the task of picking up the area to ensure that the coast is clear for the vacuum. If not, it can get stuck in a sticky situation and need my help to reset itself. Although the size is shallow, it can’t fit under my couch, but it does get in most hard-to-reach areas.
Limited Wet Mopping Control: I wish there was more control over the wetness of the mop. The Roomba Combo j5's mop doesn’t allow for adjusting water flow or customizing the wetness level for different flooring types.
CONCLUSION:
In my experience with the Roomba Combo j5 Robot Vacuum and Mop, I've found it to be a game-changer in home cleaning. The seamless integration of vacuuming and mopping, coupled with its smart navigation system, has made my cleaning routine incredibly efficient. I appreciate the device's ability to adapt to different floor types and the convenience of controlling it through the user-friendly app. It's saved me a significant amount of time and effort.
While I've enjoyed the versatility and advanced features, it's worth mentioning that there have been occasional navigation hiccups. Although it will never fully replace my stick vacuum or Swiffer mop, the Roomba is an integral part of my regular cleaning routine. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Roomba Combo j5 has become an indispensable part of my household cleaning arsenal, providing a thorough and convenient solution. If you're looking for a time-saving and efficient cleaning companion, this robot vacuum and mop combo is certainly worth considering.

On the whole, I really like this Roomba and think it's a significant improvement on prior robot vacuums I've used. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's for everyone. Is it right for you? Read on to find out!
If this is your first robot vacuum, there are few basics you need to know. First, regardless of what anyone tells you, these are not a substitute for a human with a good upright or cannister vac. They just aren't - they can't "see" dirt and target it, they have a hard time with tough spaces and whatnot. (In this case, since it's a mop as well, I'd extend that to say that they aren't a replacement for a human with a mop and bucket for the same reasons). They don't "scrub" or "dig in" to get that deep ground in dirt. And if your floor / place is particularly dirty, they'll fill up fast and this model doesn't self-empty (unless you buy the add-on self-emptying bin). They do nominally make some noise when they run - though in my experience less noise than a normal vacuum - so this is something to think about if you work from home, you won't want it running near you during the day (though it could be running downstairs if you're working in an upstairs office and you wouldn't hear it).
So all that said, what are robot vacuums good for? Generally, I find they're good for either smaller areas / places and/OR they're good for maintanence cleaning between bigger cleanings. In that role of keeping things tidy enough to get by, robot vacuums can excel. And as far as robot vacuums go, this is a pretty great one (I told you it wouldn't all be negative!) This Roomba incorporates a camera and memory on top of the base sensors so that it can create a virtual "map" of the space that you set it up in. This mapping trip (the first trip around that it makes, it doesn't vacuum, just maps) and then subsequent updates let it clean much more thoroughly and efficiently than most other vacuums I've tried. While it still has a hard time with tight spaces, it does just fine with cleaning most spaces and does well to avoid / go around obstacles and furniture. You'll want to pick up a bit so there's no so many things for it to avoid (otherwise it might skip areas of your floor), but generally with either the vacuum or the mop it will keep your space reasonably tied between major (human) cleaning jobs. It does fill up somewhat quickly (though in the maintanence role, it's picking up less than if it's your ONLY cleaner, so it doesn't fill up as quick), so if you find that it's not finishing your space on a regular basis, you might want to invest in the self-emptying add on. The mop is pretty cool as does a decent job (again, at maintanence cleaning, not heavy duty scrubbing) but I do wish that it warned you when it was empty of water - it doesn't seem to be able to sense that. I'll probably mostly use it for dry vacuuming, as dust and whatnot are the main things that I want it to pick up in my space and it does a good job of that. The Roomba is easy to put together (it's really mostly set up, you just have to snap the drip tray onto the charging base and set the Roomba on it - the app setup is just about as easy as well, and the whole thing is easy to use through the app. Do note, you need Wifi for it to connect to and you must use the app to control it. If you want something that can be used offline or has a physical remote, look elsewhere.
So all in all, where does that put you? Well, if you're the sort that likes to deep clean every 2-3 weeks (or perhaps you have a cleaner that comes once or twice a month) and you want to keep things clean in between, this can be a great choice. Likewise, if you have a smaller space (though still enough room for the Roomba to move around), then this could also be a great choice. And finally, if you just like gadgets, this is a fun one to have around. Just don't expect it to replace a human cleaning service and you'll be set - if you're ok with that, give it a try today!

Can't we just be like the Jetsons already?!?! Where is my flying car and robot that cleans the whole house for me? Oh well. At least we have vacuuming robots.
So this Roomba is my third robot vacuum. My previous 2 were both by Neato Robotics. I don't remember the model number of my first one, but my most recent one was the D8. The Neato's were fine, WHEN THEY WORKED. But I kept having intermittent problems with them. Most often they would seem to lose the stored map and disregard the "no-go" areas I had set up. I would sometimes come home to find the robot stuck in some area it wasn't supposed to be in the first place.
Since Roomba is the name that you think of when you think of robot vacuums I figured I'd give this one a shot to see if it was better. * SPOILER ALERT * It is. If you've never used one of these types of vacuums, they work like this: You set the robot up by putting it's home base somewhere in the room where it is going to live and you have it do its initial cleaning run. Now you are most likely going to have some places in your room where you do not want the robot to go. Unfortunately the robot has to complete this first run before you can set the keep out areas. Like in my situation, I have a tarp on the floor below my parrots' cage to catch food and droppings. Of course I don't want the robot to try and go over the tarp and get stuck, so I put books and other solid objects around the tarp so the robot can't go there. Then after the robot has created the floor map, I place a keep out square over this area so the robot knows not to go here.
One thing I don't like about setting the robot up is that it only comes with an instruction card that tells you how to set up the base and then tells you to download the app. It is so annoying to me that NO company seems to want to pay the money to print out an instruction manual anymore. It's always, "Scan this QR card for instructions". The app doesn't really tell you anything about how to set up the robot or create keep out areas. Luckily this Roomba works pretty much the same as my Neato so I was able to figure it out. But if you've never had a robot vacuum you might find the set up process a little confusing.
This robot also has a mopping feature. Honestly I think this is a little silly as the robot just has a little microfiber pad attachment that you have to swap out from the regular vacuuming dust bin and add solution to. So all it does is drag this little wet pad around the floor. I wouldn't really call this mopping as the robot isn't really putting any pressure on the floor or doing any sort of scrubbing. Again to harp on the lack of instructions that come with this robot, it doesn't say any where on the app what sort of cleaning solution you are supposed to use. Water? Pine-Sol? Combination of the 2? I had to Google it to find out.
I will say though that the Roomba seems to do pretty much everything better than my Neato did. It runs a little faster and is easier to use. Since IRobot has been at the vacuum robot game the longest they seem to have the engineering down. However the Neato robots "D" shape works better for getting into corners. Even with the Roombas large sweeping brush it still misses the corners.

I've been using a previous version Roomba 630 for going on 8 years now and have generally been pleased with its capabilities, especially given how long it's been used. This Roomba j5 is a SIGNIFICANT improvement from that model. I would say the greatest change comes to the upgrades to the AI system/learning processing accompanied by the iRobot app. It goes through your home systematically to learn the layout, it uses cameras to use lights and windows to help navigate and map out your home, and it has LEDs to locate and avoid potential obstacles - after it does that the app gives you the option to go through various camera images to teach the vacuum what obstacles to avoid. The app also has settings for cleaning preferences for choosing the number of cleaning passes, how to behave when the receptacle is full, and what obstacles to avoid. It's a serious change from where iRobot started out and I love that you can choose how it behaves and learns. Another thing to note is that the Roomba learns over time and cleaning will actually get faster- you'll notice that areas like under dining tables or complicated areas, the machine will bounce around a LOT but after some time, it will learn and figure out a more efficient means to clean that area the next time around. The sound of the vacuum is also reasonably quiet for what it does (at least compared to the older models).
The receptacle can be replaced with the mop head, which is generally, a little bit disappointing. The Roomba is clearly designed more for the vacuum component with the mop side being more of a secondary function. The replaceable mop is pretty thin and doesn't do a great job, honestly. After running through a small 600 sqft space, it sort of comes back sopping wet and is more of a hassle than it needs to be. I would not recommend this for the mopping function, specifically.
As a vacuum, this machine is FANTASTIC, especially with all the available settings in the app. The mopping capabilities are disappointing and it should be used as a backup option should you be in a bind.

great looking vacuum, it’s similar to their previous version, been using this on such a limited space for my experience because my middle floor has two different height that separate living room to kitchen area, it made sense to keep it on kitchen where most cooking gets done to it can clean all the way to the dining table space. I find irobot suction power to be alright. i’m not sure if it’s the type of wooded floor I recently got since we just got our floors done, but they don’t seems to get certain dust on a much deeper level than I would hope. I had their roomba before with the self emptying base and even that version they seems to have the same power suction, again i’m not a pro at vacuuming power level but from what i’ve been checking it does alright. I was hoping it will be a much better version of power but for my experience they felt about the same as the last. I love the rubberize track they have doesn’t seems to get stuck picking up hair of my wife. installing and program the vacuum is easy with the app. I do like roombas app I think it’s pretty simple. you can view the map of the space is at using the app. I never got any chance to emptying the battery of this since it’s only vacuuming a small space. but does help picking up pieces of rice on the floor. moping is alright it’s not something you should fully rely on in my option, but with this having that option is great. one thing I was making sure was to not mop any grease spills from cooking and I let it mop the floor when it just dust or regular small water spill. these vacuum are very smart, I tried by putting socks on the floor and overall detecting objects is none issue. beautiful looking vacuum and well build. j5 is issue to use so no complaints, it felt exactly like the previous roomba I own so i’m satisfied. it does sometimes get caught up on my dining tables carpet which ofcourse I end up removing the vacuum to its original location to start functioning properly again.

I've been using a Shark ez robot with self dumping bin for a couple of years now and have been satisfied with it. But the thought of having a robot vacuum with a mop feature got me a little excited, that's how old I am, excited about a robot vacuum with a mop LOL. Opening the box, you get the vacuum, base, drip tray and a dry and wet bin. Set up is straight forward but I really recommend you follow the user manual. Definitely have to download the irobot app to use this vacuum to it's full potential. And this is app is very comprehensive. I personally, like much more simple things and just want to turn it on and let it go and you can do this through the app. But if you are the type that like to adjust and fiddle, man, you can mess with the app for hours setting your vacuum. As for performance, it did great. It was a big improvement over my shark ez. It was quieter and picked up way more dirt, but without the self dumping feature. So now I have to inspect and dump out the dirt more often. The mopping feature was ok, not what I was hoping for but to be honest, I had really high expectations. My kitchen has tile and I make a big mess when cooking. Lot's of sauce droppings and food stains, LOL, I was hoping that the irobot would make it spotless all the time but no, it's not as powerful as a traditional mop with your muscles but it does help with a lot of stains. That and the fact that there is a lot of water on the drip tray which makes me worry about mildew make me give it 4 stars. Other than these 2 problems, it's a pretty darn good unit with plenty of vacuum suction and so many options on the app. If you temper what to expect from the mop feature, I think this is a solid robot vacuum.

I have been a huge fan of the iRobot Roomba robot vacuums so I was excited to give the Roomba Combo J5 Robot Vacuum & Mop in the Graphite color a try. The first and most important thing is that this iRobot option continues its tradition of doing an excellent job at its main task which is cleaning and doing it well. It does a great job of adequately mapping things so that it avoids most objects and obstacles as expected. It knows when and where to give cleaning a little more attention when needed thanks to the onboard camera. The app works extremely well and has always been the most consistent and useful of robot vacuum apps I have ever used versus several other brands I have tried. Where I am a little less thrilled about its performance would be with the mop feature. By no means is it terrible but it is a little less accurate and intuitive as far as the mapping than it is with the vacuum function which means that so far even after several uses I find that it will still get too close to carpet areas and sometimes "mops" portions of the carpet despite programming the entire area as a no mop zone. I assume this is happening when it needs to cross that area to get to another mop zone but over a little more time this may iron out and not occur. The water tank is smaller than I would like requiring refill more often which isn't necessarily a deal breaker but is a little inconvenient. If I was relying on a robot for my mopping needs solely I would go with a different iRobot version that handles it a bit better out of the box. Overall, this is still a great option to consider for your cleaning needs.

The iRobot Roomba Combo j5 Robot Vacuum & Mop – Graphite can clean floors and carpets or rugs pretty decently. To start using the iRobot Roomba Combo j5 Robot Vacuum & Mop – Graphite, I needed to install the iRobot Home App on my phone. I opened the side menu and selected “add your product.” Once added, I needed to scan the QR code and follow instructions to complete the setup. With the iRobot Home App, I can control scheduling a cleaning, give instructions on were to clean, were not to clean and were not to mop. I even have use of voice control through Alexa. The Roomba has artificial intelligence that grows with its use. It remembers the areas it previously cleaned and how dirty those areas were to maximize its cleaning potential. The iRobot Roomba Combo j5 Robot Vacuum & Mop – Graphite supposedly can identify and avoid obstacles in its path. My experience though was sometimes things in its path were pushed out of its way instead of going around them and sometimes debris might get missed. Dirt, dust and floor stains were scrubbed clean with the microfiber pads. The iRobot Roomba Combo j5 Robot Vacuum & Mop – Graphite cleaned each room with a wall to wall strategy all in a row. To begin the mopping function, I needed to change the interchangeable Roomba Combo vacuum Bin with its mopping pad. The AI within it detects carpets and avoids mopping them. Once the IRoomba is programmed through the app with all of the needs for vacuuming and mopping my home, I can sit back and relax to allow the iRoomba to clean smarter and smarter each time its AI learns more with each use.
Good cleaning-But it leaves something to be desire

Overall
This is one of those brands you can't overlook. It's in practically everyone's statements who are referring to anything robot vacuums. Back in 2016, when I purchased my first robo vacuum, this brand was listed in practically every review channel I found while researching some options. Albeit, at the time, we didn't have the overcrowded market of vacs that we do today. By comparison, this machine is much, much lower to the ground than any of my previous vacuums have been and easily glides under some pretty low-height furniture, where other vacs would crash with their window of roof mounted sensors. However, this machine has an odd aesthetic with its single-sided brush that sticks out like a sore thumb. While the front of the machine does feature a uniform array of various sensors, a push bumper, windowed sensors for proximity, and a full-color camera. With an underside offering drop sensors and your standard drive wheel spring-loaded sensor. Combined, they offer adequate performance navigating your space. That said, there are some glaring issues that could be better addressed.
Setup
Setting up and getting this bot ready for your first cleaning job is fairly straightforward. Download the iRobot app to connect it to your network. Place the vacuum on the charger and slide in the drip plate. Wait a few hours to charge and perform a mapping run. The instructions don't really guide you in any particular way other than pairing with the app, this caused me to not realize the mopping function would need to be carried out simultaneously while vacuuming. This ended up setting me back.
Something to note: my original unit failed after the first run, and the only reason I bring this up here is due to the setup of the replacement unit. Upon signing in, the app asked if I wanted to import my previous map that the first unit did manage to produce before it failed. One thing that is worth mentioning, while the first unit was completely dead, at least to my knowledge, the app asked to import the map from the first unit so the second wouldn't need to recreate it. The vac was able to import something. I can only assume it had to pull it from the cloud servers. This makes setting up a newer machine with mapping capabilities simple for the end user and with minimal downtime.
Features
Navigating your space is fairly accurate but it does tend to produce a lot of "obstacle" alerts. Things such as the corner of a couch, a box in the corner of the room, and oddly enough, my refrigerator. None has ever came up as a repeated obstacle so I can only deduce that these will eventually go away with time. I will add that none are objects that move around.
That said, it's range of mapping is impressive showing a range of depth to a room that's further than the vacuum might have actually accessed. With a mapped floor, the app allows the customization of floors, creating logical areas of your space, and specific clean zones, no access zones, and no mop zones. I will add that these zones don't always mean what it is labeled to the vac, more on that in the issues section. Creating schedules takes the repetitive task of starting the bot when your space is ready, from time-based schedules to something more granular, such as when your home is vacant. This is possible through third-party integrations such as August door locks, among others, and your mobile phone's location data, i.e. if you leave home and no other user is present, it will begin it's cleaning task.
Performance
Cleaning is great for this machine, which depending on your surface type and level of dirt it may have accessed, will increase it's suction power on a "as needed" basis. Navigating different surface types from carpet, to vinyl, and tile have been excellent. It being able to vac and mop simultaneously takes the trouble of having to baby sit the machine until it's finished a task to change accessories for the next. The odd aesthetics of this vacuum with it's single side brush, however unsightly, handles tasks quite well. It defaults to a side to side pattern then circles the space to pick up dirt along a wall. Unlike other machines, there is no noticable setting to change that clean pattern. Mopping is efficient, and even with the tank full of water, the vac does really well cleaning most if not all forms of smudges on hard surfaces. The battery isn't as long lasting as I hoped, with about it being able to achieve about 1 hour of runtime. This is far less than what I've typically seen with similar vacuums Of similar capabilities.
Issues
-My first run must of caused something. It performed it's cleaning run, went back to the charger and never turned back on. Occasionally changing it's position would tell that it was indeed on the charger but there was no audible feedback from the vacuum. After consulting the FAQ page on the manufacturers website, I learned that when the vacuum depletes it's charge it would go into a sleep like mode where it completely shuts down and doesn't react to anything. I left it alone to charge for about a day and a half and when I eventually came back to try use it again, it was in the same state. After reaching out to iRobot support, I was quickly sent a replacement and service information. While waiting for that, I looked at the manuals found on the site and learned that there is a troubleshooting section covering a battery replacement method. This at least means it is end user serviceable.
A few days after failing, while examining the machine for details mentioned in the troubleshooting section of the manual. I realized the original unit had a burnt electronics/sulfur scent coming from it. This makes me believe some type of issue with the battery.
-This vac easily gets confused even with a mapped floor. I originally placed this in the dining room. According to the documentation, this vac should have an open space with about 3' open on each side. It certainly gets this and after seeing it fail miserably, labeled the table area as "no access" zone. The issue here is that when you first start, it enters a state the app calls "cleaning and discovery". This state seems to neglect your zoning information and will traverse any zone that may have been labeled to restrict access. Map data seems to do the same as it, while in this discovery state, will crash into just about everything in it's path.
-The mop has a constant leak when equipped. I originally believed the mop had a type of injector that would help coat the fabric with moisture so that the vac could do adequate cleaning, but upon the first fill of water in the resirviour, I immediately noticed it began leaking from the fabric. This has me questioning the actual use case of the "no mop" zones if it will still drip moisture into your carpets.
Conclusion
This is an overall very nice cleaning machine. Despite it’s flaws, it can clean what I need fairly well. There are several annoyances to deal with but with the right customer, these may not be an issue.
