These things are junk. Tried running it on mop mode, but it didn't mop the floor. It returned to the charging station, then dumped water all over the floor. Our house is not large, but the battery would run down before it finished half the house. It only returned to the docking station to recharge once. All other times it just died in the middle of the room. Tried to return it, but I missed the window by 2 days. If I had not put based the $150 protection plan, I would have been completely out of luck. I should have listed to my cousin who works at a thrift store in Dallas when he told me they receive 10 of these things a month.

Most irritating thing I had in a while. Setup was a nightmare. Kept having to contact iRobot cause it would not connect to my wifi. They just kept sending out new ones hoping one would work. Eventually after removing all passwords and turning everything else off it connected. Started Mapping the house, took 2 hours and didn't create a very good map but they say it could take a few runs. Vacuumed once, got stuck twice and lost once. Next day was disconnected again, contacted iRobot, they sent another new one. After trying to set it up and it telling me my password was wrong I returned it. Went with a Roborock q revo which has been flawless. 10 year jump in technology.

Great little Robotvac w/good sensors, easy to use

iRobot Roomba Combo j5+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum & Mop The Roomba Combo J5+ is a great little robot vac that self-empties and has a good amount of smarts built in. The dustbin can be swapped out with a little wet mop and small dustbin vac attachment. I think of the mop more as a damp hard flood dusting instead of what some might think of as mopping since there are no agitators but more on that later. First up the little robot needs to map the house. iRobot does the smart thing by just sending the little vac around mapping the house, no need to waste battery doing other things just send it out to map. If you didn’t charge it enough or you have an extremely large place it will return to base to charge up then go back to where it left off. After mapping is complete you can name the rooms, block areas and map no mop zones. Vacuuming, this is where this little bot shines. It is good at avoiding obstacles and going over throw rugs and has a pretty low profile so it can get under things. The vac is surprisingly quite most robot vacs I have used in the past are very noisy and you really don’t want to schedule them in the rooms you are doing stuff or if someone is taking a nap. But the J5+ had a very reasonable noise level but don’t worry if it gets stuck it will alert you on your phone or tablet app. I never had to get mine out of a jam it is that good at avoiding stuff including when you have cables or wires around or a sock nest or other temporary or permanent obstacles. After the first vacuuming it will ask for you to review obstacles it didn’t understand to let it know if these are permanent and it should set up a blocked area or temporary and it will see if it moves or is removed next time. You can use google assistant or Amazon Alexa voice assistants to tell your little bot what to do. You can make a cleaning schedule or even set things up so it starts when you leave your home or if it is still cleaning when you get back it will ask you if you want it to continue or go back to base. It will also integrate with several other home automation apps. And yes it does to a good job vacuuming on both hard surfaces and carpet. It is good at transitioning over varying levels and transitions. I have some anti fatigue floor mats in my hard surface kitchen and it proceeded over them with out any effort. It even backed up and re-vacuumed some surfaces that it left a little spot of something behind getting it up the second time. I would say the sensors are very good for doing the best job as well as mapping and avoidance. It will go back to base to empty the dustbin when needed and then go continue where it left off. It is pretty good at figuring out when it runs low on battery and cleans some back close to base prior to plugging in for a recharge then going out to returning to areas it still needed to complete. As far as the dirt collection in the base I have mixed feelings. It uses a throw away bag to collect the dirt and gives you a secondary bag until you can order some more. I have had other robot vacs that have a dirt cup that pops out to throw the dirt away. The dirt cup is less wasteful but has more opportunities to give back dust and allergens back to the air which the disposable bag does not. The mopping requires on the J5+ combo requires you to load the combo software prior to using the first time. And you have to swap out the dustbin for a mop tank with small dustbin. The mopping is really a damp mop dusting since it does not have an agitator. If you setup a no mop zone and these areas are on the carpet areas surrounding the hard floor area the little bot will tell you it can’t get there and it is blocked. You can pick up the bot and relocate it to the blocked area and it will mop it then return to the area you dropped it off at when finished. Since this bot does not retract the mopping equipment it is making sure you don’t get areas damp on the rug areas. Depending on your carpet material you may or may not be concerned about the damp cloth going across these areas while it goes to a mop zone. To mop things correctly you really need a dedicated mop robot, after all look at what it takes to make a mop machine that does a good mop job. I did like a feature not available on the J5+ that I had on another botvac where the map shows where the robot is when doing it work. Instead the J5+ only tells you the room it is working on or if it is traveling to or from an area. Is that a big deal? That is for your taste. iRobot does do updates for efficiency, abilities and other improvements both to the bot and to the app interface. I like that I can use the larger interface on my tablet to alter the maps and work with the bot. I can also use it on my phone for automation when not at home or on trips. I keep waiting for someone to come up with an app for a desktop or laptop computer. I guess I am spoiled by large territory.

The Roomba Combo J5 is a great purchase for anyone with laminate/hardwood floors. We have another name-brand vacuum, but it does not do nearly as thorough of a job as the Roomba. While the Roomba may be a little loud ( So loud when I'm on the phone I have to pause it), and when it empties out the bin, it could wake the dead. Other than that though it is a great vacuum and mop combo. The plus about it is, number one it detects when your kids leave stuff on the floor or when they fail to clean up their mess (Toys and blankets). So it doesn't run over them, it simply goes around them instead of getting stuck on them. Number two, it is beyond thorough (This can be set in the settings menu). It will go over every spot twice so that it leaves no debris behind. The Mop feature is pretty neat, it automatically detects where we have a rug, and it will shut off in that spot and go over the rest of the area and clean it. It would be a little neater if it actually had more of a scrubbing motion to it like a rotating bristle brush, but overall it does a good job of making the house look like it was taken care of before guests arrive. The vacuum maps out the house after around two tries, and it allows you to label the areas, even though it will attempt to label them for you (which is great, it saves time). Overall this vacuum is great and I highly recommend it.

This is my review of the iRobot Roomba j5+ robot vacuum cleaner. After it was delivered to our home, the unboxing was simple and there are directions on the inside of the box on how to unbox it, I put the base in our kitchen next to the refrigerator and plugged it in and placed the Roomba on it to start charging the battery. I then installed the app on my phone. After a few minutes, the Roomba beeped and that let me know that it was ready to be set up. The app was simple to use, I named our Roomba Rosie, which was the robot maid from the old Jetsons cartoon show. I then used the app to tell Rosie to start the mapping process, that took about 40 minutes in our home. Once completed, Rosie returned to the base and the app said that it was ready to start. I did a complete vacuum of our home and that took about 45 minutes. Once that was completed, I added the mop addition to Rosie and then sent her out once again. The mop is very basic and does ok, nothing great about it. The vacuum portion works fantastic and picks up quite a bit. The self-emptying part is nice also as the dirt storage onboard the robot is not very big, you can go for a long time without having to empty the base station. This is a very nice vacuum robot.

The J5+ is an OK vacuum. Battery life is marginal (does about 800sq ft a charge for us) and performance is only OK. It leaves a lot of dirt and pet hair clumps behind. Worst of all the price dropped over 200 dollars after I purchased and BB will not honor the new price. Sour experience all around with this purchase.

Hello friends this is my review of the iRobot roomba combo j5+ self emptying robot vacuum and mop. That's a mouthful to say so from here on i will say j5+ instead. I have personally been a big fan of the iRobot company for a very long time. I purchased my first robot from them almost 20 years ago when their second gen robot came out. At that time the robots were pretty basic compared to today. The robots did not connect to your device or go back to its charger. Today's models are so much more user friendly and a lot more powerful. I know i really like this new style of robot that iRobot has rolled out over the last couple of years. First off these robots not only can start from the charger but also return there once the battery is depleted. But also these new designs can empty themselves into the base. This means you only have to do maintenance on the robot every few weeks or so. Also iRobot made a great effort to make these machines easy to maintain. The vacuum rollers do not require tools to remove. And most other normally cleaned parts on the robot are super easy to access and clean. This makes it easy for the end user. If you are like me and have a pet in the home this j5+ will be super helpful for you. I had been running my regular vacuum 3 times a week to get all pet hair. Now i only run my large vacuum once a week or less. Pet hair and human hair are both captured by the new j5+ and sent to the bin at the base daily. Then when needed i can swap the dust bin for the mop bin and get a sqeeky clean floor when i return home. For me i only have one small complaint about the j5+. When using the mop bin, i have a little bit of leakage of the floor cleaner out of the bin. This is due to the design of this bin. It is designed to wick the fluid out to the mop head. So if you leave the bin for to long without running it it will leak a little. Not a big problem just something to be aware of. In conclusion i would say the j5+ is a winner. If you have a need for a vac and mop robot you can't go wrong with the j5+. That is unless you can move up to the j7+ which is superior to this robot. Will i be recommending this j5+ to my friends and family? Yes i will!

I’ve been wanting to bring home a pet robot for quite a while and finally adopted the iRobot Roomba Combo j5+. As a tech enthusiast and someone who's always on the lookout for smart home gadgets, this robot vacuum and mop combo had me intrigued from the start. It is a Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum & Mop with a Graphite color scheme, and I must say, it's a beautiful design and is a hard-working device for helping to keep my home clean and tidy. First things first, the design of the Roomba Combo j5+ is sleek and modern. Its graphite finish adds a touch of sophistication to my home decor, and it's compact enough to seamlessly navigate through various rooms and tight spaces. It's not an eyesore like some other robot vacuums, and it effortlessly blends into the aesthetics of my home decor. Now, let's talk about performance because that's where the Roomba Combo j5+ truly shines. This smart robot is not just a vacuum; it's a vacuum and mop combo, and it does both jobs exceptionally well. The vacuum's suction power is impressive, effortlessly picking up dirt, dust, and even pet hair. I have tile floors throughout with one room having an area rug and the Roomba cleans easily transitioning between surfaces. It leaves my floors looking spotless. What sets the Roomba Combo j5+ apart is its ability to mop as well. I was skeptical of the mop feature initially; however, it surprisingly impressed me with its automated feature after filling the small water tank. With its precision jet spray and vibrating mop, it tackles small sticky messes and pet footprints with ease. It works perfect for the times when our dog makes a small mess around the water and food bowl, or just general floor cleaning, this robot does it all. This vacuum was especially helpful after a family gathering and huge dinner. Granted the mess was not intentionally made or left, but the Roomba was put to the test after everyone left. The result was clean and shiny floors without the hassle of manual mopping and sweeping. The self-emptying feature is a welcomed addition. It means the Roomba can clean multiple rooms without me having to worry about emptying the dustbin constantly. It automatically empties the dirt and debris into the Clean Base, which is not only convenient but also keeps the air in your home cleaner by capturing allergens and dust. This is a massive time-saver for anyone with a busy schedule. The Roomba Combo j5+ is also a smart home device, and it can be controlled through the iRobot Home app or voice commands if you have a compatible smart assistant. This means I can schedule cleanings, start or stop the robot, or even check its status when I'm not at home. It's a level of convenience that I've come to appreciate, especially on days when I need to clean up before returning home. Its also entertaining to start cleaning the floors while I’m at work and the family is home. The first few times they were startled and called me to be sure I was the one who initiated the cleaning. The robot's navigation system is very impressive as well. It effortlessly moves around obstacles, avoids staged furniture and items lying on the floor, and effectively cleans corners and edges. It maps your home, creating a personalized cleaning plan, so you can be confident that no spot is left untouched. There were times when it did not detect some items that my daughters left on the floor, but those were small instances that would not take away from the overall performance. One thing to note is that the Roomba Combo j5+ is not the quietest. While it's not overly loud, it's noticeably audible when it's at work. However, I'm more than willing to overlook this minor inconvenience given the outstanding cleaning performance it delivers. The iRobot Roomba Combo j5+ is a fantastic addition to any home. Its sleek design, powerful cleaning capabilities, self-emptying features, and smart home integration make it a great companion to help keep the home clean consistently. It takes the hassle out of cleaning and leaves your floors looking spotless. If you're looking to invest in a smart cleaning solution that delivers great results, the Roomba Combo j5+ is a worthy choice. I'm absolutely thrilled with my new iRobot vacuum pet, and it has made keeping my home clean a breeze.

This Roomba J5+ combo self emptying robot vacuum is so much more than I expected. The app, which allows for many options like schedules, no go zones, room dividers, object detection, and has an intelligent navigation and mapping system which ensures efficient room coverage without missing spots. I am especially excited about the object detection. It learns what objects should or shouldn't be on the floor based on pictures it takes for you to review and then knows which should or shouldn't be there. It also provides photographic evidence of who is leaving stuff on the floor to assist in household debates. You can even set it up to work with Siri and or Alexa by voice command. How cool!? I also love the mopping function. It's more like a wet drag of a cleaning pad but for me, I wasn't expecting a deep clean, just remove the surface dirt and mud that the dogs bring in and it absolutely does that in nice straight lines along my wood floors, AND it vacuums while it is mopping! I set a schedule using the app which has the vacuum cleaning my whole middle floor M/W/F in the middle of the day so the rooms are bright which helps the robot view a little better. The robot even knew the dog food bowls and asked if I wanted the robot to avoid them. I have run 3 cycles and it has yet to get stuck on any object on the ground and instead just takes a picture to remind you that there are objects on the floor for you to review. Another feature that sold me on this was the self emptying dust bin. I have dogs and my previous robot dust bin would fill up after every cleaning and I would have to empty it and that eliminates the purpose of the set it and forget cleaning approach. Sure the large dust bin needs emptying eventually but I can do that weekly or more. A couple things I don't like, vacuum bags and the sound of emptying the dust bin. First the sound, it sounds like a jet engine turning up, lasts only 3-5 seconds but you've been warned. Not a big deal, just caught me off guard. The vacuum bags are an annoyance and are wasteful. They lock in with a plastic clip and are relatively small. I would suggest environmentally the company just use a reusable internal dust bin rather than creating plastic trash. Overall, I love this vacuum. It cleans thoroughly, is capable of mopping and vacuuming at the same time, and I don't have to put much thought into my floor being clean and they just are which is awesome and makes my life simpler. Win.

I love the Roomba it is very easy to set up and it vacuums very good and I can schedule when I want it to clean. I had an older roomba that did not do the line vacuum it went everywhere missing quit a bit of area. I like that it is self emptying bin. As for the mopping it does an alright job, You do have to change out the bin when it is time to mop, it does not spray the water or solution it just drops out of the bottom while mopping this is the only downfall I would say because it can miss areas. I think I would have preferred the separate mopping device due to this, however for a quick clean it is good just not a deep cleaning. that is the only reason I gave a 4 star. It does have a great camera detection it turns around when something is in the way I love that especially cords it will not roll over them. I would definitely recommend J5+ it does what it says for the money.

I received this iRobot Roomba J5+ vacuum and wet mop to evaluate and review. I had a very early Roomba version years ago and found it helpful but somewhat problematic as it often got stuck in places and was hard to find to correct. The new Roomba J5+ combination vacuum/wet mop has overcome all of those issues and is now a great addition to our house. Before using, the Roomba must be charged and once charged begins to map your house before initiating the first vacuuming. It took about 3 hours for the Roomba to map our 3700 sf house and needed to recharge itself before beginning the first vacuum event. It took around 3 hours to fully recharge. The first vaccuming was incomplete as it got very full with dust and debris it found under beds that hadn't been vacuumed in several years. I manually had to pull a lot of dustballs out of it as they exceeded the onboard capacity of the vacuum debris storage. Normally, the vacuum would go home and dock itself when a job was completed and the base unit suctions out the debris in the unit so it is empty before going out for another vacuuming. The second vacuuming of the house went much quicker and smoother with few issues. The Ropmba J5+ was always able to get unstuck when it boxed itself inmto a corner, under a chair or tangled with a cord or rug. I am very impressed with how it works, how detailed the mapping is and all of the options available to control and schedule the vacuum and mopping jobs. By the way, the Roomba J5+ is able to vacuum and wet mop at the same time! Awesome. iRobot has an application you can download for your smarphone that shows the map made by the J5+ Roomba Combo and allows you to name the rooms, hallways, etc. so you can later send the unit to a specific room to just clean it. What an amazing machine and a wonderful addition to our home!

    Excellent Robot Vacuum

It has by far one of the best vacuuming capabilities I’ve seen. I’d recommend if you have pets where it has no problem. Just remember to do maintenance on it at least one every two weeks, or the hair will burn the motors in the dual brush rolls and side brush. It cleans in neat rows, by far it’s better than random navigating robot vacuums and floor tracking. It knows when there’s an obstacle in front. It’s efficient with battery life also. It does pretty good with mopping, it doesn’t put too much pressure down on the mop pads. Not top of the line but it’s useful for light mops. It relies on gravity to soak the mopping pads, so it may not always be damp. And you may have to dampen it in the sink beforehand and mid mopping run. The docking station is the best by far, it empties its bin well into is dust bag. It’s quite loud so I wouldn’t recommend it to only vacuum at night. Or you can just vacuum & mop at night where it won’t empty its dust bin. But this is one of the best, robot vacuums if you are on a budget, it gets the job done effortlessly.

Unpacking the Roomba was straightforward and simple, actually the hardest part was getting the vac seated on the charger correctly. After getting everything in place, I downloaded the app which literally took me through everything. It came in one large box with multiple boxes inside. I set up the Roomba for the 1st time use as vacuum all over. It learns the way around by using a camera, but mainly by bumping into everything multiple times over and over LOL! It avoided the extension cord and the 4" drop that is my entryway. The main thing that impressed me the most and that I was really hoping for was this. I have hardwood floor with 2 - 5X8 area rugs, it climbed the carpet and cleaned it like it was nothing. My home is 1200 sg ft, it took aprx 30 minutes to go thru it and then emptied itself, yea...one less chore for me to tackle! It mapped the places it went went to gave me the amount of time it took to do so. Then it gives the total footage it cleaned. I can set a schedule for it to clean, empty the bin manually if I want. The app gives the ability to do everything. Finally thought; this is a winner, as long as I can get used to hearing the bumping around and the robot reseating itself on the charger and emptying itself (kinda loud).
