Most irritating thing I had in a while. Setup was a nightmare. Kept having to contact iRobot cause it would not connect to my wifi. They just kept sending out new ones hoping one would work. Eventually after removing all passwords and turning everything else off it connected. Started Mapping the house, took 2 hours and didn't create a very good map but they say it could take a few runs. Vacuumed once, got stuck twice and lost once. Next day was disconnected again, contacted iRobot, they sent another new one. After trying to set it up and it telling me my password was wrong I returned it. Went with a Roborock q revo which has been flawless. 10 year jump in technology.

These things are junk. Tried running it on mop mode, but it didn't mop the floor. It returned to the charging station, then dumped water all over the floor. Our house is not large, but the battery would run down before it finished half the house. It only returned to the docking station to recharge once. All other times it just died in the middle of the room. Tried to return it, but I missed the window by 2 days. If I had not put based the $150 protection plan, I would have been completely out of luck. I should have listed to my cousin who works at a thrift store in Dallas when he told me they receive 10 of these things a month.

This is my review of the iRobot Roomba j5+ robot vacuum cleaner. After it was delivered to our home, the unboxing was simple and there are directions on the inside of the box on how to unbox it, I put the base in our kitchen next to the refrigerator and plugged it in and placed the Roomba on it to start charging the battery. I then installed the app on my phone. After a few minutes, the Roomba beeped and that let me know that it was ready to be set up. The app was simple to use, I named our Roomba Rosie, which was the robot maid from the old Jetsons cartoon show. I then used the app to tell Rosie to start the mapping process, that took about 40 minutes in our home. Once completed, Rosie returned to the base and the app said that it was ready to start. I did a complete vacuum of our home and that took about 45 minutes. Once that was completed, I added the mop addition to Rosie and then sent her out once again. The mop is very basic and does ok, nothing great about it. The vacuum portion works fantastic and picks up quite a bit. The self-emptying part is nice also as the dirt storage onboard the robot is not very big, you can go for a long time without having to empty the base station. This is a very nice vacuum robot.

The J5+ is an OK vacuum. Battery life is marginal (does about 800sq ft a charge for us) and performance is only OK. It leaves a lot of dirt and pet hair clumps behind. Worst of all the price dropped over 200 dollars after I purchased and BB will not honor the new price. Sour experience all around with this purchase.

I’ve been wanting to bring home a pet robot for quite a while and finally adopted the iRobot Roomba Combo j5+. As a tech enthusiast and someone who's always on the lookout for smart home gadgets, this robot vacuum and mop combo had me intrigued from the start. It is a Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum & Mop with a Graphite color scheme, and I must say, it's a beautiful design and is a hard-working device for helping to keep my home clean and tidy.
First things first, the design of the Roomba Combo j5+ is sleek and modern. Its graphite finish adds a touch of sophistication to my home decor, and it's compact enough to seamlessly navigate through various rooms and tight spaces. It's not an eyesore like some other robot vacuums, and it effortlessly blends into the aesthetics of my home decor.
Now, let's talk about performance because that's where the Roomba Combo j5+ truly shines. This smart robot is not just a vacuum; it's a vacuum and mop combo, and it does both jobs exceptionally well. The vacuum's suction power is impressive, effortlessly picking up dirt, dust, and even pet hair. I have tile floors throughout with one room having an area rug and the Roomba cleans easily transitioning between surfaces. It leaves my floors looking spotless.
What sets the Roomba Combo j5+ apart is its ability to mop as well. I was skeptical of the mop feature initially; however, it surprisingly impressed me with its automated feature after filling the small water tank. With its precision jet spray and vibrating mop, it tackles small sticky messes and pet footprints with ease. It works perfect for the times when our dog makes a small mess around the water and food bowl, or just general floor cleaning, this robot does it all. This vacuum was especially helpful after a family gathering and huge dinner. Granted the mess was not intentionally made or left, but the Roomba was put to the test after everyone left. The result was clean and shiny floors without the hassle of manual mopping and sweeping.
The self-emptying feature is a welcomed addition. It means the Roomba can clean multiple rooms without me having to worry about emptying the dustbin constantly. It automatically empties the dirt and debris into the Clean Base, which is not only convenient but also keeps the air in your home cleaner by capturing allergens and dust. This is a massive time-saver for anyone with a busy schedule.
The Roomba Combo j5+ is also a smart home device, and it can be controlled through the iRobot Home app or voice commands if you have a compatible smart assistant. This means I can schedule cleanings, start or stop the robot, or even check its status when I'm not at home. It's a level of convenience that I've come to appreciate, especially on days when I need to clean up before returning home. Its also entertaining to start cleaning the floors while I’m at work and the family is home. The first few times they were startled and called me to be sure I was the one who initiated the cleaning.
The robot's navigation system is very impressive as well. It effortlessly moves around obstacles, avoids staged furniture and items lying on the floor, and effectively cleans corners and edges. It maps your home, creating a personalized cleaning plan, so you can be confident that no spot is left untouched. There were times when it did not detect some items that my daughters left on the floor, but those were small instances that would not take away from the overall performance.
One thing to note is that the Roomba Combo j5+ is not the quietest. While it's not overly loud, it's noticeably audible when it's at work. However, I'm more than willing to overlook this minor inconvenience given the outstanding cleaning performance it delivers.
The iRobot Roomba Combo j5+ is a fantastic addition to any home. Its sleek design, powerful cleaning capabilities, self-emptying features, and smart home integration make it a great companion to help keep the home clean consistently. It takes the hassle out of cleaning and leaves your floors looking spotless. If you're looking to invest in a smart cleaning solution that delivers great results, the Roomba Combo j5+ is a worthy choice. I'm absolutely thrilled with my new iRobot vacuum pet, and it has made keeping my home clean a breeze.

This is only my second robot from iRobot, the first was a Braava mopping only model that is many years old. I do have a few robots from other manufacturers, and they work great as does this J5+ combo unit. Overall, there are some good and bad with this little guy. First off, the navigation is a new type for me and it did take me some time to get used to how it works and to trust that the camera navigation will in fact avoid “some” obstacles. I don’t know if I would fully trust it not to avoid a dog mess, although it does a pretty good job at avoiding shoes or other small toys that are left on the ground. It has been able to suck up the occasional sock that was left behind though. This robot is supposed to get smarter over time and I am afraid the week that I have had it, I was not able to make it smarter. Perhaps over time that will change and I hope it does. In the app, you will get reports from the robot, and it will show you a picture of something it encountered, and you can teach it if that item is an obstacle to avoid in the future, a temporary obstacle, or to ignore it. I submitted my findings to the cloud to help with the overall avoidance technology that iRobot has built into these things. The first mapping session requires you to pick up as many obstacles as possible for the best results and I found that it takes a much longer time to map than the Lidar model robots that I have. Also, this first mapping run, the robot will bump into literally everything and to my dismay, the entire front of the robot was scratched up, I do wish it has rubber protection here, but its just a semi hard plastic that scratches easily. Even after mapping it seems to bump into everything. It does manage to navigate a kitchen table and chair legs pretty good, but, again, not without bumping into every leg multiple times. Vacuuming performance has been great, and it has great suction and the dual rubber rollers have not clogged up with hair, the spinning three-pronged brush is where the hair accumulates. Mopping function works well and it just wets the mop pad and goes back and forth. It has been pretty good at light mopping duties, but the tiny mop pad seems to be made for small areas only. Cleaning the pad is easy with soap and water and attaching the pad is super easy with the plastic clip that is stitched on the pad and clips on the bottom of the combo bin. One of the first things I did notice on this was how loud it is. This is by far the loudest vacuum that I have owned, and the self-emptying bin is again, the loudest. That goes with the strongest suction too I believe, so just keep that in mind if you are in the market for one of these. Don’t expect to be able to watch TV while this is moving at all. My other units, I am able to put them in quite mode and I can watch TV. The iRobot app has been working great and in the week that I have had it, the robot was not found just once, and I had to reboot it. Setting up the initial map with rooms, no go zones, no mopping zones, and high traffic zones was easy to do. The cleaning report will show you the room that robot cleaned, and it will be colored in with the areas it covered, also in these reports is where you will find the obstacles the camera finds (cube icon on map) with a way to take action on what it found. There are a few features on the app that don’t seem to be activated at this time, for example, the Product Health option just keeps saying to that it will be available shortly, so perhaps it is a feature that has yet to be rolled out. I do like this loud and powerful vacuum and if you can find it on sale, then that is the best time to pick it up in my opinion.

I love the Roomba it is very easy to set up and it vacuums very good and I can schedule when I want it to clean. I had an older roomba that did not do the line vacuum it went everywhere missing quit a bit of area. I like that it is self emptying bin. As for the mopping it does an alright job, You do have to change out the bin when it is time to mop, it does not spray the water or solution it just drops out of the bottom while mopping this is the only downfall I would say because it can miss areas. I think I would have preferred the separate mopping device due to this, however for a quick clean it is good just not a deep cleaning. that is the only reason I gave a 4 star. It does have a great camera detection it turns around when something is in the way I love that especially cords it will not roll over them. I would definitely recommend J5+ it does what it says for the money.

Excellent Robot Vacuum

It has by far one of the best vacuuming capabilities I’ve seen. I’d recommend if you have pets where it has no problem. Just remember to do maintenance on it at least one every two weeks, or the hair will burn the motors in the dual brush rolls and side brush. It cleans in neat rows, by far it’s better than random navigating robot vacuums and floor tracking. It knows when there’s an obstacle in front. It’s efficient with battery life also. It does pretty good with mopping, it doesn’t put too much pressure down on the mop pads. Not top of the line but it’s useful for light mops. It relies on gravity to soak the mopping pads, so it may not always be damp. And you may have to dampen it in the sink beforehand and mid mopping run. The docking station is the best by far, it empties its bin well into is dust bag. It’s quite loud so I wouldn’t recommend it to only vacuum at night. Or you can just vacuum & mop at night where it won’t empty its dust bin. But this is one of the best, robot vacuums if you are on a budget, it gets the job done effortlessly.

The Roomba Combo J5 is a great purchase for anyone with laminate/hardwood floors. We have another name-brand vacuum, but it does not do nearly as thorough of a job as the Roomba. While the Roomba may be a little loud ( So loud when I'm on the phone I have to pause it), and when it empties out the bin, it could wake the dead. Other than that though it is a great vacuum and mop combo.
The plus about it is, number one it detects when your kids leave stuff on the floor or when they fail to clean up their mess (Toys and blankets). So it doesn't run over them, it simply goes around them instead of getting stuck on them. Number two, it is beyond thorough (This can be set in the settings menu). It will go over every spot twice so that it leaves no debris behind.
The Mop feature is pretty neat, it automatically detects where we have a rug, and it will shut off in that spot and go over the rest of the area and clean it. It would be a little neater if it actually had more of a scrubbing motion to it like a rotating bristle brush, but overall it does a good job of making the house look like it was taken care of before guests arrive.
The vacuum maps out the house after around two tries, and it allows you to label the areas, even though it will attempt to label them for you (which is great, it saves time).
Overall this vacuum is great and I highly recommend it.

Unpacking the Roomba was straightforward and simple, actually the hardest part was getting the vac seated on the charger correctly. After getting everything in place, I downloaded the app which literally took me through everything. It came in one large box with multiple boxes inside.
I set up the Roomba for the 1st time use as vacuum all over. It learns the way around by using a camera, but mainly by bumping into everything multiple times over and over LOL!
It avoided the extension cord and the 4" drop that is my entryway. The main thing that impressed me the most and that I was really hoping for was this. I have hardwood floor with 2 - 5X8 area rugs, it climbed the carpet and cleaned it like it was nothing.
My home is 1200 sg ft, it took aprx 30 minutes to go thru it and then emptied itself, yea...one less chore for me to tackle!
It mapped the places it went went to gave me the amount of time it took to do so. Then it gives the total footage it cleaned. I can set a schedule for it to clean, empty the bin manually if I want. The app gives the ability to do everything.
Finally thought; this is a winner, as long as I can get used to hearing the bumping around and the robot reseating itself on the charger and emptying itself (kinda loud).

I have been in dire need of updating my robot vacuum, because the technology in this field has been growing so fast! My old one just wasn’t cutting it and always left me wanting more.
Enter this model… with the new technology and features and the app. This is what I’ve been waiting for! Right out of the box I set it up on my main floor and started setup. Super easy and very intuitive. At first use, mapping was very accounts it didn’t keep running into walls, plants, Christmas decorations, etc! It would sense the object and turn around or go around it. The app seems to be easier to use than my old vacuum and I enjoy these features more. Using this vacuum
During the week saves me so much time, hassle and energy because it keeps everything clean and even empties itself in to its base station. I actually love the mop feature, and I honestly didn’t think I’d even use it. It does a good job cleaning the tile and leaves no mess behind at all. I was very impressed with it and it was just a bonus for me because I didn’t expect it to be as good as it is!

I love this iRobot vacuum. It is so convenient for when you don’t feel like going around the house to vacuum or sweep and it does a very thorough job of making sure floors are clean and any dirt or debris is clear. You have to have it do a full clean of the house a few times when you first get it to make sure that it can make a map of your house and get to know any surroundings so it can give an accurate and thorough clean. However, after you do a few full cleans, it will learn your house and be able to do full vacuum trips on its own. I like the fact that you can choose how long it cleans, as low as 15 minutes for a quick clean of the immediate space you are in up to around an hour for a fuller deep clean. I also like that it returns to its charging dock by itself so you don’t have to plug it in to charge it or go pick it up when the battery is dying — it goes back to the charging dock when it knows its battery is about to die. Just such a convenient vacuum to have and if you want to cut down on house work, it’s a must have!

I Robot/Roombas are one of the most established brands out there for automated vacuuming. I have had several other robot vacuums I have used over the years, but have avoided this brand because it has not had the ability to mop in the same unit as the vacuum. I have almost all smooth surface floors in my house and that is a feature I really value. They previously sold the mops separately, a waste of floorspace when my other units I can do both with with one footprint. When I saw this item come out, I knew I had to try it. My mother in law I was looking at robot vacuum, but wasn’t wanting to invest quite yet, so i ended giving my mother in law my older unit (another popular brand's combo mop/vacuum) that is just at a year old to try. One thing I do not like is this came with no physical manual to read instructions first. They want you to scan the app and go from there. It's a bit of personal bias, but I like knowing where the steps will go before going through them, and see trouble shooting steps before I start setup. It's tough if you run into a snag and have to flip from app to site and back to look at manuals. Also, nowhere did I see a “What's in the box” listing, but in this you get 1 mop pad, 1 extra hepa filter, one extra brush, one extra base dirt bag, combo tank, and regular dust bin. Combo tank is dustbin/water bin. It won't load contents at the end into the base waste bin bag like the regular dust bin, but that's ok. Even with the app guiding me through this, I don't think there were any missed steps, this set up to wifi easy and then I let it charge to full in about 2 hours and allowed it to map my floor plan. That took about 35 minutes I think total (sort of lost track, and it made an accurate plan. Unlike many of my other units I have used, this does not show you where it is active on your floor layout, but it does detect and keep in line with itself mopping. It must use lasers to guide it like my other units, I just don't know why I can track it to where it is in my house. This is handy on my other units because these do have a small water tanks and I need usually top them off to finish my floorplan. This one It uses about 1.25 to 1.5 tanks. I had to just pause it and fill it. What this has that my others don't is an obstical review, where at the end of vacuuming you can see what it saw (it takes a photo) and you can go address the issue or make a no go zone. To set up mopping, you have to scan the barcode on the top of the combo bin, and click the link, then the app updates and the unit updates firmware I think and it then adds areas you can add “no mop zones” in addition to the no go zones so that you don't mop things like area rugs. That worked great. I had It do around 800 square feet of my layout and it had plenty of battery and found it's way home easily, unlike one of my others that goes out and sometimes dies. Overall I do like the dustbin feature a lot because I usually vacuum 2 times a week and then mop 1 time, and this allows me to not empty the little dustbin as much. I will give this 5 stars, no flaws noted so far. I can't deduct for not having an active mapping to know where it is, likely just a quick software update could do it If they choose.
