Customers admire the Roomba i6 (6150) for its impressive cleaning performance and ease of use, particularly its smart mapping capabilities. However, some users find the noise level and navigation to be less than ideal, and the dustbin's capacity is frequently cited as too small. The suction power and pet hair removal capabilities are also frequently praised.

It does its job of sucking up dust, hair and dry food crumbs well. The downside is that it doesn't identify objects that are low in height (a sofa, for example), so if you have low items in your house, the robot will get under them, get stuck there and, when you remove it, you'll find scratches on its top.

It did not live up to the hype

I really wanted to love my Roomba i6 (6150). I always wanted a Roomba vacuum but it was over my budget, so I was using a more budget-friendly version, which did the job just fine. However, when I was given a chance to try Roomba i6 (6150), I jumped on that opportunity.
Perhaps, I had too high hopes and unrealistic expectations because I was very disappointed with Roomba i6 (6150).
The unit is bigger and heavier than my budget-friendly version. It's also much noisier, maybe because it has a bigger motor - it moves faster than my other vacuum.
There are three reasons why I am not happy with Roomba i6 (6150):
1) The dustbin is too small.
2) The battery life is too short.
3) No cleaning brush or replacement parts included.
Let me elaborate. I live in a 1,200 sq. ft. apartment and my other vacuum had no problem finishing the entire place with one full charge in about an hour.
Roomba i6 (6150), on the other hand, has to recharge in a mid-job, even though it started out with a full charge, so it takes more than 3 hours to complete a job.
The dustbin is too small and gets full easily. Roomba i6 (6150) paused on one occasion and I had to empty out the bin, so it could resume the job. That's too high maintenance in my opinion.
At this price point, Roomba i6 (6150) should include a cleaning brush, extra side brush and filter at minimum. It's impossible to fully clean the dustbin without a brush or remove the tangled hair off the rollers without a proper cutting tool. Good thing my other vacuum came with such a tool and I was able to repurpose it. My handy tool is shown in my photos.
The only advantage of Roomba i6 (6150) over my other vacuum was the easier Wi-Fi setup. It connects to 5GHz, so no need to switch your Wi-Fi network to 2.4GHz. That was always my gripe with my other vacuum (and many Wi-Fi connected devices), so that was a big enough deal for me to give an extra star.
Otherwise, I was not satisfied with Roomba i6 (6150) and do not recommend it.

Our second Roomba, major upgrade from early models

We upgraded from a very early model circa 2012 that just wore out and this Roomba is lightyears ahead. It actually does know where it is going and does very well at cleaning all the hard to reach spots and does not get suck or lost and need rescuing. It will go about 90 minutes on a single charge and takes about 4 hours (90 minute run, 45-60 minute charge, 90 minute run) to do a 2500 square foot house. We have almost exclusively hard/tile floors but it does very well on the one room (bedroom) with carpet. However for the carpet room I will still being using a true vacuum and use the Roomba just to get under the bed and dresser that a vacuum cant reach since the Roomba. I ran the Roomba twice in the bedroom and it cleaned up a lot but the true Vacuum later still got dirt the Roomba just doesnt have the power to get.
Maintenance is easier as the new vacuum rollers seem more durable and less prone to getting debris wrapped around them. The sweeper (the propeller looking thing on the right) does need to be cleaned after every run but you should be doing that anyway when you empty the bin. The bin has plenty of capacity to handle the entire home without being emptied in the middle of the run but the Roomba will alert you if it does. The Roomba also senses if an area is particularly dirty and will make multiple passes. The app functionality works, it maps the house after about 2 full runs and telling the robot where to go or not to go is easy. It also allows you to set the Roomba to do a quick pass or a deep multiple pass run. I noticed immediate results and this got the house a lot cleaner than manually sweeping and cleaning with a microfiber brush. Definitely happy with my purchase. Only thing it still cant handle are bathroom mats, they just arent heavy enough to not get bundled up, otherwise there is very little prep work needed before a run.

I have cats… lots of fur, tracked litter and food bits. But a daily scheduled cleaning with my new Roomba makes they mess disappear before I get home from work. Great communication to my iPhone, too, so when it needs to be emptied or cleaned, I know right away. On my app, I named it my upstairs maid… and plan to get another for my lower level, too.

I got a great deal on this and actually exchanged an i3 Id bought days prior in order to get this one. This is my first experience owning a roomba and so far I have no complaints. Although I would’ve loved to have gotten the model that can detect objects ( or god forbid, dog poop ), I don’t mind doing a quick ocular sweep of the area it will be cleaning and picking up any cords / socks/ etc that could become an issue and saving a couple hundred bucks ( I know there are a few more features but that’s the most appealing to me ).
Setup was very easy, you really just un-box, plug in the base, set robot on base and download the app. Everything from then on is walked through in the app but it’s very “ plug and play” which I loved , granted the battery isn’t fully charged but I got to take it for a spin real quick before leaving it alone to charge.
The software updated within the first 24 hours to give more options for mapping and the smart map is pretty incredible , after a couple mapping runs and a few cleaning runs I had a pretty on point smart map within a couple days. We are only using this upstairs and the primary reason for it is litter tracking , but I love having something that can go under the beds and under some furniture that is nearly impossible to clean on our own.
We have hardwood throughout, some low pile runners in the hallway and wood pieces in the thresholds and it has no trouble getting up/ over / around any of these things. The cleaning ability from hard floor to carpet does not waiver and even around bathroom mats it hasn’t gotten stuck, maybe a corner or 2 of the Mat flips up but it has never stopped the robot and usually frees itself quickly.
I love that I can set the roomba up in IFTTT and can set it up to clean certain areas when my litter robot cycles!
The bin is kind of small and I do usually need to empty it after it does a full run of the upstairs so I did end up buying the clean base recently but the bin size was definitely not a deal breaker.
For those comparing models , everything I saw mentioning the i6 indicates that it was initially exclusive to Amazon when it was released and that it is virtually identical to the i7 in terms of features. If that is still the case now, I’m not sure but it sounds like features and capabilities are added or enhanced with software updates pretty often. I got this for the same price as the i3 on sale and for that I feel like I got a great deal and I’m very happy with my purchase.

It does a great job at vacuuming if no other problems. It is a real vacuum so it is loud enough you cant just run it at night next to rooms.
But at times it will suck up cords, get stuck under inexplicable spots it takes you days to find, get lost and not go back to its base, oh and if it doesnt recognize a dog present - well have fun with that mess

One thing is for sure, iRobot vacuums are expensive. That is what has kept me from acquiring one until recently. I purchased the Roomba i6 on sale for #349.99 but reduced the cost by trading a PS4 and controller for $130 (PS5 owner now). I used the trade-in gift card for the Roomba.
I read a lot of reviews and settled with the i6. After the initial mapping of our living space downstairs, I sectioned off various areas, created a couple of no-go zones, and set some schedules.
So far, I have been impressed by the work it has been doing. I have five dogs (3 small, two large), and the Roomba has done an excellent job. I have not vacuumed since I have had the Roomba with our regular push vacuum. It has been over a week. I have a small handheld vacuum to pick up some excess dog hair stuck to throw down rugs, but not very much.
I am looking at the charging bin accessory, but it too is expensive. I have read some negative feedback on it on other sites, but it seems like the Best Buy reviews are positive. I'd like to see the price of it come down, however.
Overall, I am all in as long as it is reliable. I took the rollers off the Roomba and found hair wrapped around the cleaning—brush wheels. Make sure to check those every few runs, especially if you have animals.

This thing runs pretty loud. It terms of cleaning it does a decent job with most types of dust and mess. What i didnt like is there were times where it would say it completed its scheduled vacuum run even though it never left the dock. I also didnt like that it seem to get stuck quite often even when there wasnt anything to get stuck on. In terms of the quality, idk this model feels cheaply made and scratches easy from it doing its own mapping of the surroundings as it bumps into the walls of few furniture pieces that are stationary to the room.

This is my first robot vacuum and I am quite impressed. It takes a while to map correctly, but it does an amazing job once it's set up. The dust bin is pretty small so the additional clean base is a must.
We schedule it 3 times a week on our main floor, which is covered by dog hair on a regular basis. You can tell that it's working by the little bit of hair that now tracks from room to room. It sometimes sounds like it's bogging down on our carpet but still seems to be pulling debris up just fine.
A bit expensive with the base, but we can now focus on other things like the kiddos. We absolutely love it!

Good for carpet

Good cleaning power on carpeted area and doesn't get stuck on carpet as much as my Roborock S5. But navigation, mapping speed, and hard flooring cleaning result not as good as the Roborock. Battery could only last for approx. 45-minute in each cleaning session, which is relatively low especially considering that it takes considerably more time to finish a room when there are obstacles like desk and chair legs. Overall a good choice for carpeted area and gets the job done with minor drawbacks.

The smart map is a fantastic feature, it let's me send the roomba to specific areas and even block pieces using red zones. This is really useful when my dog decides to go roll around and scratch herself in a certain part of the house, I can send the roomba to vacuum that place and pick up the hair before it spreads around the house. Does really well on carpets too, and while there are some places it cannot reach like the sides of the fridge because obviously it's not a magic vacuum, it actually cleans others better than I would as it can go underneath beds and furniture. I am really happy with my purchase. Only con is that the bin fills up pretty quickly so I think I will need to get the base that empties it automatically at some point.

This is now my 3rd iRobot vacuum that I’ve purchased over the last 5 years. I had a 600 series that is now our backup unit and now use an i3 and this new i6 along with a competitor to cover my 3 story townhome. I really enjoy the app that allows me to control the schedule and check up from anywhere. So far the cleaning has been solid. We have cats and it does a great job getting a bin full of fur everyday. We have no carpet in the house so I don’t know how well it does on carpet but does very well on hardwood floors. I’m hoping my current set of vacs last for years to come and it’s been a good start so far. Feel confident buying the i6.

Then product does a great job on the carpet but not so much hard surfaces. One of the biggest things I absolutely dislike about this is how loud it is. Everyone has different tolerance for noise so it may not bother other, but for me it’s borderline annoying at times. Besides that and not really cleaning the hard surfaces, the vacuum does it’s job.

Nothing but grateful for this little robot! It learns the area and creates zones, does a great job sweeping up the dirt even off the rugs, and is super simple to setup. This saves us a lot of time. The only thing that I would change is the noise. It's a bit loud, so best to run it during the day or a time where you aren't seeking a quiet atmosphere.
Note: Make sure you don't have wires on the floor or it might get stuck.
