Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the Roomba i7+'s self-emptying feature as a game-changer, eliminating the need for frequent manual emptying. Pet owners appreciate its effectiveness in cleaning dog hair, while many users praise its ease of use and the convenience of its scheduling feature. However, some users find the vacuum to be quite loud, particularly during the self-emptying process, and a few express concerns about its price and the cost of replacement bags.

What a disappointing purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The robot does not properly pick up light dog hair on low carpet. This robot will pick up some hair temporarily...before depositing it elsewhere in the house. My dog is a light to moderate shedder. The carpet is a low-pile. I live in a temperate area with moderate humidity. In short, it’s a fairly unremarkable environment for a vacuum. I have contacted iRobot customer service multiple times, and support has yet to solve this problem or replace the vacuum, even though my machine was still under warranty when the process began months ago. With a couple of pleasant exceptions, long wait times, poor guidance, and a lack of communication have been hallmarks of my experience. As one example, a customer support rep told me that, for the robot to work, I should periodically spray my carpet with a laundry anti-static spray. Or, alternatively, I need to “increase the humidity in my house.” I followed their instructions (though it seems pretty odd to me that I should have to walk around my house spraying my carpet with anti-static spray and using a humidifier just to get my vacuum to...well, vacuum), but it still didn't work. Most recently, I sent it off for a (second) repair at iRobot’s request, and iRobot returned it saying that they were unable to duplicate the problem. This despite me sending pictures and a video of the Roomba spitting out hair. This is the second time they have returned the machine claiming that they could not duplicate the issue. I have spent literally hours with support staff, and -- at bottom -- there have been no results. I really WANT this to work -- but I'm at the end of my tether with this failed device (and probably the company as a whole). The one redeeming factor it has is that the software is excellent, and the machine is easy to use. In other words: If it actually worked, it would be awesome. Either the machine I have is a dud, and iRobot's customer service has taken hours and hours to find no solution and offered no replacement ... or the vacuum doesn’t work well. Either way, I’m very disappointed.

Not for carpet..
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute trash if you have pets and carpet floors. The rubberized rollers are designed to be tangle free, but they still accumulate pet hair like traditional bristle rollers, however, they don’t pick up hair at all other than to wrap around itself. All these rollers do is clump up the hair and crap it out the back of the robot. See photos of all the lovely black fur. I’ve owned off brand robots that have done great, but eventually died after years. So I stepped up and spent more on iRobot and essentially threw away $700. This vacuum is great for piling up fur so I can come behind it with a real vacuum. I’d be happy if they offered normal bridge rollers, but all that’s available for this model are the rubber ones. I am assuming the rollers are the problem, it may be the suction as well. This this is super quiet which makes me think it’s not sucking that much. If you have carpet and things that produce a lot of hair (pets/wives) don’t get this vacuum. Hard floors, you may have better results since you don’t need to agitate carpet to free embedded hairs.

Not good with pet hair
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I really wanted it to work out, this little robot did not have what it took to clean up after my dog who sheds. It left a trail of wadded up dog hair in its wake as it traveled around the house. What’s the point of a vacuum that you need to clean up after? Especially when it costs $850? Apparently this is a common issue with the Roomba i7, enough so that this syndrome has a name - Roombarf! We tried cleaning it out, pre-vacuuming, etc, all to no avail. The posted pics are after my son had vacuumed the floor before running the Roomba. Anyway, I was happy that Best Buy accommodated the return so well. If you have a Shedding Dog, don’t buy this.

Piece of crap!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this in December of 2019. By January of 2021 just 13 months of having it the battery wouldn’t charge anymore. So as mad as I was I ordered another $100 battery. Changed out the battery and it still wouldn’t charge. So I called customer service and since it was out of warranty after just over a year she said it would cost me over $130 just to have them look at it then also cost however much to fix it. So I went to Amazon and wrote a nasty review and Roomba contacted me. Said since the warranty was just out a month they were sending me a new charging base because that was the issue with this model. Well that would have been nice for customer service to tell me when I called mad about my battery! Got my new base in March and it worked good for MAYBE a month. So I was back to fighting to get it to charge and could normally get it to work after a couple of days. Well now I am on day 10 fighting and it will not charge. So he is my suggestion to you. If you want to throw away $650 (which is not what I paid mine was $800) by all means buy this piece of junk. If you like your money then go elsewhere! I will also say this is the third and last Roomba I will ever buy. I have always loved them until now!!

You'll regret it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After one year of owning the Roomba decided to stop working completely. It continues to say Error 7, stuck, left wheel error. There is nothing wrong with the left wheel nor has this machine been through any tough cleanings. Replaced the wheel with a friends wheel and it says the same thing. Contacted Roomba and they have been silent.

The worst experience of my life
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Irobot is no longer responding to me and my 2nd defective unit. These “self cleaning” rubber brushes DO NOT WORK ON CARPET. I decided to ignore the countless other reviews and still purchased the i7+ because my 690 has NEVER had an issue since originally purchasing in 2017. Irobot has had me change components, and even replaced the unit, but its apparent that the flaw is in its actual design - DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE CARPET. It doesnt matter how much you run it, it does not improve. Irobot is now waiting for my warranty expire so they are no longer have to support me.

Expensive Junk
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a waste of money. Programmed to run 4 times a week, gets stuck getting back on it's base at least 2 times a week. (photo attached) I've tried the suggested remedies, still screws up at least 50% of the time. I run it while I'm at work so when I get home it is dead and the entire job did not get run. This was an expensive piece of junk, sorry I bought it!

Keeps stopping and poor pick up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First use was normal. But since that it’s stops about every second swipe of my brand new carpet. I have to turn it over and clean debri cleaning or free the brushes. Does not pick up much of anything. I just had back surgery and got this so I would not have to bend over or strain my back. I just had to buy a regular vacuum. Don’t buy this.

Convenient
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like having it sweep everyday however it always leaves clumps of dog fur. Keeps going into keep out zone and getting stuck. Often times will run out of battery and I will have to take it to it's dock. Recently when it gets to it's dock it will fall of the side. If I wasn't home to tend to it then it would never get the sweeping done. Very frustrated with it. The clumps of fur are left after 3-4 times of having it sweep same area.

Not worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this item a month ago and have had several problems with it. It worked great for about 5 days but then it started dying mid clean and not going back to its dock to charge. It will kick on 3-4 times a day even if it’s only scheduled for certain days and times. Plus the box was pretty damaged when it arrived. Not happy.

Roomba I-7 Series Buyer Beware
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is horrible. Error messages galore. I had a Neato D3 and did not have that many messages in 5 years. Roomba you should not be able to sell this product.

Bad
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum is ok. Love the automatic dirt disposal. But a waste if you use the mapping feature. Your better off buying a cheaper model that does the same thing. My wife has been in contact with customer support for over 2 weeks and the issue with the maps and docking issues still hasn't been resolved. Worst model. Just get a basic model Roomba for your needs. Not worth the price for features that are faulty.

Robot is not smart
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Robot doesn’t miss any messes your cat or dog might leave like it said it would. Ran it 3 times and on the 3rd run picked up a screw from recent renovation and has ran right since. Keeps giving me error 26, I’ve taken it apart and the fan seems to turn freely. Not sure what part of it is messed up but now I’m supposed to pay $70 to get a new cleaning head module.

Overpriced, falling apart, doesn't work
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum has had issues from the day we bought it and we regret we did not return it before the return period expired. Performance: The vacuum regularly gets stuck on it's own. A LOT! It doesn't "learn" trouble areas where it repeatedly gets stuck, like sliding glass door tracks (even with the glass doors closed) and inside a bathroom. The only workaround is to create "off limits" zones, but this is a complicated and time consuming process. The vacuum does not have accurate estimations of it's distance back to the home base and many times has run out of batteries before it could make it back to recharge, so you have to pick it up and place it on the base. The "self emptying" feature is EXTREMELY glitchy. Our device repeatedly says the bag is full when it is not even 1/4 of the way full. Something is off with it's sensors. We have tried putting brand new bags on, only to have the same error. The rotating brushes have an inferior design that does NOT handle human hair well. In a home with 3 girls, this is quite a problem. The rotating brushes get jammed and tangled up with even the smallest amount of hair. Inferior materials quality: The 3 pronged horizontal rotating brush has had 2 of it's 3 rubber "arms" with brushes on the end fall off. Again, poor design if the vacuum and brushes are designed in a way that puts too much strain on the brushes to remain intact. (They appear to have regular prompts suggestion you buy new brushes, filters and front to back rotating grips, so perhaps they are trying to adopt a model of making more money off of parts they already did from the initial - high - purchase price?) Tech support: I called and spoke with someone from iRobot tech support. He was not empathetic or even apologetic for a negative experience and basically said there is nothing they could do about it and nothing is under warranty after a certain amount of time from the date of purchase. PRIVACY: iRobot recently was purchased by Amazon. There is an article out saying that data is able to be gathered from the device about the layout of your home and that it stores visual pictures and/or video clips using the camera that helps guide it around your home. I have not verified this, but it just another point to be aware of when considering if this device is right for you or not.

How Disappointed Can a Customer Be?
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit quit working less than 1 month after purchasing it. I tried getting the issue rectified through iRobot but I think you can imagine how that's turned out. After explaining numerous times that the unit would run around but the vacuum motor was not running and nothing was being picked up. There only solution is to send me new brushes to replace the brand new brushes that it currently has. No amount of discussion would bring about any other help. I provided iRobot the information, pictures etc. they requested and I have never heard back. I had a Deebot unit prior to this and that thing ran without a single problem for 3 years so I will be chalking this up to a very expensive learning experience, throwing the iRobot away and finding another Deebot to buy. My only recourse is to hopefully stop as many people as I can from experiencing the same poor quality products and lack of any help with the issue.

Had to return
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I should’ve read the reviews first on this model. It began malfunctioning within the first two weeks of owning it, so I returned it and bought a Roborock, which I’m very happy with.

Homeowner
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked one day returned and exchanged for j7 because they were out of i7. I7 works great 35% of the time. There is always a fault and now with less than a year old another looks like cleaning head needs replaced.

Prefer cordless vacuums over robot
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not for me. It didn’t suck as much as I hoped. Hah. But really it didn’t perform well. It had a hard time doing an entire room without getting confused on furniture. I ended up returning it.
