Customers frequently mention the Roomba j7+ excels in cleaning performance, mapping, navigation, obstacle avoidance, and ease of use. The automatic dirt disposal and pet hair removal are also well-received features. However, some customers have concerns about the noise level and battery life. Additionally, a few customers feel the suction could be stronger, and the robot sometimes struggles with docking.

Never had a problem with an open box item before until I received the Roomba. The box looked as if it had been dropped from a 17th floor window! Upon opening, the robot had heavy marks on it, dust and crud. The self emptying container had a half full bag of dust and crud. Downloaded the app and connected to the bot to find it had done 21 jobs and used for 11hrs. Not excellent as advertised by BB. Obviously I sent it back for a replacement, that got cancelled to being unavailable. Contacted support and was told I would get refunded but now have to wait to get refunded on their next billing cycle!! Totally unacceptable and poor policy on refunding a damaged item. Shopping elsewhere.

Product not great with pet hair. I purchased this product and initially seemed to do ok. It tangles pet hair and leaves behind even on hard surfaces after pulling out of carpets. Customer support was great and actually sent replacements. Unfortunately They didn’t do any better and missed my return window. Easy to use and set up. Would recommend to homes without long hair dogs.

The iRobot j7+ builds upon a long history of innovation.
Setting up the robot was very simple and took less than 5 mins before the robot undocked itself and started mapping the house. I have over 2300 sqft for the robot to clean. I decided to place it in the middle of the house to allow it enough room to clean half and recharge the. Go clean the other half.
The mapping took 2 times to be really accurate and be able to speed along, the first time it will constantly bump into objects then adjust.
Once it had the memory mapping down it went quickly and cleaned effective on my tile floors. It even went of the kitchen. And laundry room rug runners with ease.
How’s the avoidance? It literally would stop before getting to the cords and make its way around! No more hazards having to worry about.
The post robot cleaning phase was really nice as it emptied itself into the base station which was very nice and easy to collect and toss.
In the end the j7+ model is a leap forward in the iRobot lineup! I can imagine not having one it just makes life that much better!
Side note: The App is fluid and very helpful, it clearly shows you the house area map robot has made and informs you of robots actions!

Overall; Major Improvement. Replaced The 690

2.5 months later and I am very happy to have purchased this. Replaced the 2016 Roomba 690
ArrowForce Cleaning System: I was skeptical when I purchased with pet hair and my wife's long hair as my main reason for purchase. I thought this machine would probably have issues too. The older Roombas could not handle the hair. The old bristled brush and beater bar combo took 15-30 minutes to clean the hair off, every week. Using knives, razor blades, etc. This j7 7550 machine is soooo simple. Remove the bars, slide the hair off the ends, reassemble, your done. Maybe 5 minutes. WOW! I can't express enough how much of an improvement the new ArrowForce cleaning system is on these newer machines. After careful review/research, we decided not to purchase 3rd party, cheap replacement parts for this machine.
Floor Cleaning: iRobot integrated their "Imprint" smart mapping technology into this machine. This is a big, big deal too. The machine DOES NOT randomly clean and run into everything. It maps the entire home initially, room by room using a camera. Then, it methodically covers the floor area and cleans AROUND obstacles. NICE! With constant updates and AI improvements from iRobot via internet connection, this is a very nice improvement. It takes a couple of hours to complete a 1,400 sq. ft floor space. It actually thoroughly completes the entire home. It will run until it needs to recharge, recharges, then goes back out to complete. With this machine, there is no more searching your home with a flashlight to find your Roomba. Our home has hard tile and short-nap carpet surfaces. It cleans the surfaces well. We have noticed a big improvement in cleanliness around the entire home. I've noticed that it does not get stuck under recliners and on cables. You can definitely tell that the machine is not mindless.
Clean Base: This is a really appreciated integration into the whole cleaning process. After the initial cleanup, we had to replace the bag after about 2 weeks because of the mess the older Roomba would leave. That was a little surprising. Since then, it's been 2 months. We haven't changed the bag yet. It lets you know if it needs to be changed. You will hear an alert in your home and get a message on your phone app. The vacuum is loud, but only lasts for about 4 seconds every time Roomba docks. It does a very good job of clearing the dust container on the machine. You won't have to empty the robot at all, unless you don't replace the bags when needed. The base takes care of this. This was a big deal to us. With our old machine, we had to keep constant track of the dust bin on the Roomba. You would find it packed and the machine not able to clean because of air flow restricting. This problem has completely been eliminated. We clean the paper filter every two weeks with our air compressor. It's a simple process, it's small and easy to do. After careful review/research, we decided not to purchase 3rd party, cheap replacement parts for this machine.
Phone App: I use this app, but randomly. It doesn't require you to manage the machine much. I find myself just checking in every now and then. The nice thing is, if I need to know something, it tells me. One feature I have really taken notice of is the obstacle awareness and floor map barriers I can place. It's simple and useful. There is a lot more to it than the cheaper model Roombas. So navigation within the app is a bit more intricate, but definitely navigable.

The J7 has many nice features - can run from app on your phone, can run from Alexa (works so-so), can set up keep out zones, takes photos of obstacles and lets you review, self emptying, etc. It does a great job with picking up most surface things that are tracked in on shoes, spills, etc. But if you plan to use it for pet hair.....this is not the one. This was an upgrade for my very old Roomba 650. When it comes to dog hair, there is NO comparison....my old Roomba 650 picks up a LOT more pet hair than the new J7. The features are nice but I would prefer that it pick up pet hair as well as the 650. Spent a lot of money and I use the 650 to pick up what the J7 misses. The attached photo is one run with my old roomba 650 after a month of the J7 running every day and sometimes more often.

I recently upgraded from a budget robot vacuum to the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite, and I am so glad I did! The Roomba j7+ is a night and day difference from my old vacuum. It is much more powerful, it cleans my floors much more thoroughly, and it is much more intelligent.
One of the things I love most about the Roomba j7+ is its ability to avoid obstacles. My old vacuum would constantly get stuck on things like cords and furniture, but the Roomba j7+ has a camera and sensors that allow it to see and avoid obstacles. This means that I never have to worry about it getting stuck, and I can be sure that my floors are getting cleaned thoroughly.
Another thing I love about the Roomba j7+ is its automatic dirt disposal. My old vacuum had a small dustbin that I had to empty every day or two. The Roomba j7+ has a much larger dustbin that can hold up to 60 days of dirt and debris. This means that I can go weeks without having to empty the dustbin, which is a huge time saver.
Overall, I am very impressed with the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite. It is a powerful, intelligent, and convenient vacuum that has made my life much easier. If you are looking for a robot vacuum that will do a great job of cleaning your floors, I highly recommend the Roomba j7+.
Here are some of the pros and cons of the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite:
Pros:
Powerful suction
Thorough cleaning
Intelligent obstacle avoidance
Automatic dirt disposal
Long battery life
Easy to use
Cons:
Expensive
Can be noisy
May not be suitable for homes with pets
Overall, I think the iRobot Roomba j7+ (7550) Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal - Graphite is a great robot vacuum. It's powerful, intelligent, and convenient. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a robot vacuum that will do a great job of cleaning their floors.

Terrible. Did not work as advertised. Pet hair clogged and did not self emplty due to clog. App never worked correctly and vac was frequently lost, confused, and occasionaly went rogue at 2am. Rollers jammed with hair after 4 uses. Would not empty even though bag only 1/2 full. Had to turn on every light in the house so it would not run over oxygen cords, socks, paper clips, etc.

I have two iRobot i3+ EVO (3550), an i7+ (7550) from 2021 (it doesn't map), and a Braava jet m6. I bought this one instead of another i3 because I thought it was an upgrade and I liked the lower profile for the canister. This is the only iRobot that I will be returning. Whenever it goes over a low area rug it leaves a clump of dog hair (I have so many iRobots because I have Labs)

One of the best Roomba options!

This Roomba has been an amazing part of our cleanup routine in our house! Roombas have been controversial topic over the years—whether you are referring to the horror stories of them smearing dog poop everywhere or their less than satisfactory cleanup work, people don’t know what to think about them sometimes. I can tell you that yes, this version of the Roomba is amazing and between its self-emptying capability, peace of mind with its P.O.O.P system to avoid pet waste (Pet Owner Official Promise) and smart mapping, I have grown to love it.
The setup of this machine was easy. I got the dock, or “Clean Base” set up and plugged in and placed the Roomba on the charging contact pads to get it started. I really love the design of the clean base with this one. It is not as tall as previous models, and it is somehow more pleasant and refined looking to my tastes. I actually don’t mind if guests see this sitting in my dining room. The Roomba turned out to be more than a quarter charged already from the factory! I downloaded the iRobot app and went through the setup of this Roomba on my Wi-Fi network. The app guided me easily through the process and before I knew it, I was giving my Roomba a name and sending it off on its first cleanup job!
I live in a 1300 square foot condo and the first cleanup everywhere job was a long one, over 3-1/2 hours to cover 721 square feet for mapping and vacuuming (according to the app), a mix of carpet, hardwood, and linoleum with a stop for 1 hour and 24 minutes in for it to go charge itself and then get back to work, which it did automatically! We are very clean people and vacuum at least once a week if not twice and I just could not believe how much hair and junk was in the bag of the self-emptying station! The second time I sent the Roomba to look around the house and figure out the map of the place, I found out that in the app I could just send it on a mapping mission, which when a lot quicker. I then was able to use the app to label rooms, create boundaries and no entry points, and I even set my kitchen and entry as “clean zones” so that the Roomba knows to spend extra time there vacuuming.
I am now getting a kick out of grinding coffee and sending the Roomba in to the kitchen to clean up the floor after me, sending it to the living room to vacuum the carpet and leave behind perfectly geometric lines and patterns for our guests to ooh and ahh over and tease us about. The Roomba has showed itself to be more than a match for my wife’s several foot long hairs she sheds, dog food kibbles, and everything else in between.
I was very impressed watching the Roomba get itself unstuck from a loose bathroom lug it sucked up into it. It attempted different angles of departure until it was able to get loose. The only hang-up with this Roomba, literally, was laces from my shoes getting caught in it. But the machine paused and alerted me on the app it was having trouble with a bumper, and I went and found it in its state. To find it, I was able to use the app to locate the Roomba and I heard its little chime from my inside of my closet! Another aspect worth mentioning is how quiet this machine is. My cat, which is typically fearful and hides from our full sized vacuum, enjoys following this Roomba around! Maybe it is going to turn into the next meme of a cat that rides the Roomba around in a shark costume, haha!
Altogether, this thing is awesome. It is a steep price, but wow does it perform. I have had zero problems whatsoever during my couple weeks of owning it now and over a dozen cleaning jobs. I love the uniform, clean lines it leaves on my carpeted floors and the much cleaner floors of my kitchen and dining room now. If you are here looking seriously at buying it, I would say just go for it and get ready to be as impressed as I have been!

Love the Self-Emptying base

THE BREAKDOWN:
The iRobot Roomba j7+ is the latest in the lineup of robot vacuums with self-emptying capabilities. While the self-emptying feature is not new it is certainly a feature that I would not do without. The overall design and shape are very similar to other robot vacuums on the market. This one is controlled by the iRobot companion app.
The design is very sleek and stylish with the traditional rounded shape which measures 13.4” Length by 13.3 Width and 3.4” in height and weights around 7.49 lbs. There is a long-bristled brush on the side that helps sweep the debris into the middle. The middle roller is rubber and is around 6.75 inches long. On the top of the robot is a single button that has led lights. The led changes colors to let you know the status. You get a white spiral while charging, a red light is a problem or indication that the battery is low. The button can also be used to start, stop and abort cleaning. The docking station had a bin on the back that you lift to access the debris collection bag. This is also where the spare bag, filter and this is also where I stored my extra long-bristled brush head.
The app is where most of the magic happens. This is where you name your robot vacuum, see all the settings, features and where you set schedules. Once you set up your map by running your vacuum a few times you can even section parts off and give them names. This allows you to only clean certain areas if you wish.
This did an excellent job of cleaning. I have 2 dogs and the hair can get everywhere fast and with this I can just run the vacuum twice a day it and it keeps the dog hair in check. This does a great job of not sucking up my charging cables like my other robot vacuum will do. For obstacle avoidance this thing was a champ.
PRO’s:
- Very stylish looking
- Good navigation and avoids obstacles
- Voice assistance
- Schedule cleanings
- Self-emptying base
CON’s:
- Still have to clean my kids hair from the rollers
- Can be loud on wood floors
- The self-emptying base can be loud
SUMMARY:
Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this that is portable and gets the job done.

Super Smart Robo Vacuum!

J7+ is their newest Roomba model that was released in Aug 2021. I had it for 2 weeks and had an opportunity to compare its features and performance with two other brands (one has self-emptying base) that are in the same price range and with two older generation models of Roomba (960 and 780). This is a major upgrade compared to the older Roomba models I have. I had the older Roomba models for over 5 years and the only things I had to change on those are the batteries and the brushes and they still run a like a champ. The model comes with a self-emptying base, 2 dirt disposal bags for the self-emptying base, a set of side brushes, and an additional high efficiency filter.
Set-up and App Functions
Set-up was breeze, took about 5 minutes to have it connected to my Wi-Fi and set it up on a cleaning schedule using the iRobot app. It took 3 runs for it to confiture the home map. The app is user friendly and has ton of features and information related to its performance. You can allow this app to integrate with your smart home (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) app, if you choose to. The app provides you with several customizable options:
1) You can set rooms on your home map once its mapped and schedule cleaning plan for individual rooms. The cleaning history map also shows the location of obstacles identified during that cleaning session.
2) Customize schedule, locate your Roomba with a chime, look at the cleaning history, monitor Roomba health, job status during cleaning, etc.
3) Has a cleaning preferences menu that allows you to customize additional options - what you want your Roomba to do in events such as bin full, number of cleaning passes, extra clean, obstacle detection on/off, etc.
4) Also has an option if you want to participate in their Beta program to test new features.
Performance
1) It's notable feature is the obstacle detection and avoidance which is not offered by any other brand that I am aware off. I tested the feature and works great. I have several power cords, charging cables on the floor and under my bed, etc. that often got stuck in the rollers or the vacuum stops cleaning when get stuck among cords with my older models and j7+ plus does an amazing job avoiding those. I also tossed few items in front of it while it was cleaning and it avoided those and went around to clean rest of the room. This is a must buy robot vacuum if you are concerned about pet hazards and it is programmed to avoid it! The company advertised that if the robot fails to avoid solid pet waste within a year of your purchased, the company will give you a new one for free!
2) It has a learning algorithm that constantly learns and configures for high traffic areas, seasonal dusty conditions, suction settings needed for different areas that has carpet, rugs, etc. It gets smarter over time. The previous generation ones bumped against every object and it gets annoying when it keeps doing that again and again. The j7+ did that a few times during the learning process and now it recognizes the room corners and objects, slows down and navigates without bumping. This is a big improvement over the previous generations.
3) It's less noisy on carpets compared to the older generation Roomba's that I have.
4) The dirt disposal bag is big enough to last 2-4 months - might vary based on your home area and environment. A 3 pack disposal bag costs about $19.
5) Has a good suction power. I inspected the dirt bags and saw some fine dust on the first run right after I vacuumed the entire place with a dyson vacuum.
6) It follows a vertical or horizontal cleaning pattern unlike the random paths the older generation took. This one has the camera on its front instead of the top, which offers a wider view and allows it to see objects on the floor.
7) The clean base automatic dirt disposal dock (allegers trap bag) is a nice addition to the j7 and you don't have to worry about emptying the Roomba after each use. This is helpful for people suffering from allergies like me and not have to worry about emptying the Roomba dust bins. Am guessing, for my use the disposal dirt bag should last at least 3 months.
Overall, I recommend j7+ for pet owners and for people worried about cords and stuff lying on the floor. It comes at a higher price point, but is well worth for the new features it offers!

first I didn’t think i’d ever need one of these robot vacuum, but after I finally had the chance I love this little robot roaming around my house and collecting dust I didn’t think I had. unboxing experience was fairly simple it’s labeled by number to kinda of guide of what to open first, doesn’t have much, you will have the power cord and an extra small filter.
not sure if it’s just my packaging but the box came with two manuals but none of the paper came with instructions manual to tell me what’s in side of the device to give me an over view or to teach me of how to install or disassembled the roomba vacuum, no instructions to guide the user to download the app either, but those are some useful things that other people might not be aware of what to do
after finally decided that the box really didn’t come with some kind of instructions I just went ahead and downloaded the irobot app to setup the irobot j7+. the setup experience was also an issues, the app wasn’t recognizing the device or it will lose connection, I know it’s not my wifi I have great internet at my home with zero problems on other devices. speaking of the app the experience is great, it’s easy to use from creating setting to set which day you want the roomba to clean to or just to see how roomba is doing as well.
I enjoy the app it gives you so much information about the vacuum from battery life to starting the job, the app will also keep you posted if anything wrong with the roomba, but the biggest highlight about irobot app was mapping the environment this could take some time, since the roomba will have to move and scan around the floor of your home, specially by having a bigger home this could take a little while, irobot app also have an option to do mapping run, it’s main purpose is to cover more ground in less time, once it’s done you will be able to even name certain section of your map so you can program the roomba to which
section you want the device to clean. amazing stuff right there!
seeing the map of my home after cleaning cycle helps me understand which area the roomba been, you also have the ability to create zones on the app once you have the layout of your home, you can pick specific location where you can close so the roomba won’t bother going at all. or how much in the space you want the device to clean.
roomba definitely collected a good amount of dirt/ dust than I expected to, just some area that usually put out of reach for me, or sometimes feeling lazy going down to vacuum some lower area, i’m satisfied of what i’m experiencing so far. instructions did say that it’s recommended to have a great amount of lighting when using the device, so if suggest to stick with that, and to help the roomba to read your floor layout a lot faster.
at the end of each run the roomba will return to its base station when the battery is low or done cleaning. the j7 have the ability to empty the container to transfer it to base station, this process can get pretty loud when it’s extracting dirt off the roomba itself. issues that you might encounter with the roomba are having too much hair stuck in the bottom, but no worries it’s such an easy way to uninstall and install back the parts when cleaning the device.
overall i’m very satisfied with irobot j7+ the issue of not having manual instructions for setup right at the box wasn’t as great. issues of getting disconnected through the app also not a great thing to encounter, but when it works irobot j7+ is an amazing piece of tech to have in your home.

This is my third robot vac, and it’s the best for several reasons. I also got the companion Braava Jet M6 mopper, and they work together as a team.
Most importantly, it cleans thoroughly. It’s a bit louder, especially on hard floors. I think this is due to the rubber fins rather than bristle bushes. This is a minor issue considering how well it cleans and that hair and threads don’t get wound and require tedious cleaning. Additionally, its obstacle avoidance, including charger cords, is top-notch and really works. I don’t have pets that poop inside, but it also claims to avoid that and the ensuing mess we’ve all heard about. Using a camera rather than radar to navigate, it even can send you a picture of new obstacles and ask if they are permanent or temporary. Lastly, it can work in tandem with the Braava Jet mopper by first vacuuming and then telling the mopper to start its cleaning chores.
I have the self-emptying docking station, and although not unique to iRobot, I would no longer be without this option. Most robot vacs have small dust bins, so if you have a large area to clean, you have to empty them more than once. Some are smart enough to tell you, others just keep on the cleaning, and the suction and efficiency drops. Regardless, it’s always a bit of a messy project. This little guy returns to base and empties as needed to do its job. Another improvement with the j7 model is that the self-empty base is considerably shorter in height than any other I have seen. It's about as wide as the vac and can be tucked into spaces others won’t fit. Yep, it’s loud during the few seconds it takes, but I’ll gladly deal with that.
Setup was a breeze. It connects to your phone quickly with a press of its one big button, and then the app handles everything including a firmware update if needed. Being camera-based for charting your rooms and building its map, it is slower than others this task. Be patient and allow at least three passes before it has a detailed map built that allows all the customization you could need. Name your rooms, set boundaries, and zones, and develop custom patterns and times to clean. This is also when you can coordinate mopping after vacuuming.
The M6 mopper is a second, stand-alone unit. It has an internal tank for cleaning solution that’s easily removable from the top without picking up the unit. There are both single-use and washable wet and dry mop pads that easily attach and click into place. The unit knows wet from dry pads and will act accordingly. Both the cleaning solution and pads are proprietary, so plan on spending a bit on supplies. That said, it mops much better than the combo units I’ve had in the past.
These are not inexpensive robots, but they are very good and clean very well. The ability to avoid obstacles does away with a lot of the need to clean up manually before you clean-up automatically common to most robot vacs. If you have a medium to large area to clean with carpet, wood, and wet mop areas, this tandem will do it all. If you want to schedule cleaning and not worry if you left your phone charger cord in the wrong place, what the pet did, or are there toys or stuff lying about, you can relax and forget those issues. Robot vacuums are getting better and better, but iRobot is once again leading the pack. Highly recommended.
