Customers frequently mention the Roomba j7+ excels in cleaning performance, mapping, navigation, obstacle avoidance, and ease of use. The automatic dirt disposal and pet hair removal are also well-received features. However, some customers have concerns about the noise level and battery life. Additionally, a few customers feel the suction could be stronger, and the robot sometimes struggles with docking.

This review is for the iRobot Roomba j7+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum (7550). Let me begin by saying this is my third iRobot product. I have experienced their customer service on a couple of occasions and I will tell you there is none better. The main reason for my purchase is the fact that I have 2 German Shepards and the dog hair gets out of control quite quickly. With that said, let's move forward with the review.
The initial unboxing experience, was clean and simple. I will attach some photos to demonstrate. iRobot has simplified the entire process to a point that I actually overthought it. Basically, all you do is follow the 3 steps on the front of the "Getting Started" card, then turn the card over and follow 3 more steps on the back of the card. iRobot thought this out very carefully. They minimized the packaging and the steps you need to take. Its eco friendly and human friendly, you gotta like that!
The j7+ is a powerful cleaning machine, much more so than my previous models, and it has the one main feature that I have wanted from the beginning. It returns to its charging base and empties itself out. This is the real beauty of the new iRobot models. My home needs to be vacuumed at least 2 -3 times per week. Now the iRobot Roomba j7+ runs every day for me! And it does it without me lifting a finger.
Now for the good stuff - iRobot knocked it out of the park with their new app for the j7+. I know some reviewers had difficulty with it in the past. However, a lot bugs seem to have been fixed in this version. The only flaw I encountered was when trying to push buttons on the app to quickly. It may need a few seconds to respond. There are settings for almost anything you can think of, from mapping rooms, to specific cleaning areas and keep out zones, you will have a little fun just exploring all that this app has to offer.
The all new j7+ now has cameras that help it to navigate around your home and will take pictures of areas with obstacles for you to review within the app. The pictures the j7+ takes help it to learn the environment quicker and teaches the robot as time goes along. The pictures will not be shared with iRobot or anyone else unless you want them shared. That's a good security feature in my opinion.
I know some folks have tried old roombas before. And they have complaints such as the robot moves around in patterns that are not efficient. The j7+ doesn't do that strange circular pattern stuff, it moves about in a geometric pattern that anyone can recognize as a good cleaning pattern. You will even notice this when it finds a very dirty area and covers it more than one time. The other complaints could be the noise the old robots made. The j7+ is considerably quieter, especially on carpet surfaces. On hard floors any machine is going to make noise, but the level is bearable to watch tv over.
As a final note for the iRobot Roomba j7+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum (7550). I would absolutely recommend the j7+ to my friends and family and anyone with a fur-baby. My home is clean when i come home, and my dogs haven't tried to eat it... yet!

I wanted to love this vacuum so much; it's self emptying, avoids pet poop, and has smart mapping. It was unable to clean up most of the wayward kitty litter that gets tracked out of the box. The bin is so tiny that it needed to empty itself 3 times during a run. I use a robot twice a day, so it isn't an overly dirty space and it's less than 250 square feet. For how much it costs, I expected it to clean better.
Then there's the issue of corners. It just can't clean them. It's not d shaped, so I'm not surprised. I figured the side brush would help. Nope, it so strong that it fling debris into the already vacuumed area. It also rams into mapped furniture. I could see it damaging it with long term use.
Lastly, the promise it will a void pet poop. Nope. It ran into a poop that fell out of the box. Then it just smeared it everywhere. So it was returned within 24 hours. While Roomba will replace it, I don't have time to deal with that. The self emptying part is all that it has going for it. Otherwise it's not worth the cost.

Can’t tell you how disappointing it is to guarantee something and be let down so badly. Have a 9 week old puppy who had an accident and so much for the P.O.O.P. So frustrated.

I bought this after my eight-year-old Roomba finally gave out on me.
I bought this one as a replacement and an upgrade to my older model.
Ive been so happy with this purchase.
This Roomba has an app and it's not difficult to set up. The Roomba maps out the cleaning area by room which can be modified. It cleans very well and will return to its base for a charge if needed during a large cleaning. It self- empties and provides reminders to clean the filter, change out parts, and the like.
This is one of the less expensive models in their collection and it does a great job. Very pleased with this purchase. Bought another one as a gift for family.

I'm absolutely blown away by my recent purchase of a Roomba. It's been a total game-changer for my cleaning routine! The setup was incredibly simple, and the app is super intuitive. I love how I can schedule cleanings and even watch the Roomba in action from my phone.
The cleaning performance is top-notch. It effortlessly navigates around obstacles and gets into all the tight corners. My floors are cleaner than ever before, and I've noticed a significant reduction in pet hair.
I picked up my Roomba for an amazing deal of $230, and I'd definitely buy another one if a similar offer came along. If you're looking for a reliable and convenient way to keep your home clean, I highly recommend investing in a Roomba. It's a must-have for anyone who hates vacuuming!

The iRobot Roomba J7+ is a pretty powerful little machine. This is the second automated vacuum that maps out the home, so most of my comparison will be to that rather than a traditional upright. My previous automated vacuum was from another brand, and did not have a self-emptying bin.
The Roomba J7+ is slightly louder than our previous automated vacuum, but quieter than a traditional upright. The noise level overall is fine, and comparing it to my previous robotic vacuum the Roomba does a much better job at picking up the dirt.
We pretty much have laminated flooring, tile and rugs throughout the house, the vacuum has no problem with the transition between any of the flooring so I don't need to baby sit or move anything off of the floor in terms of rugs or mats. The vacuum was pretty quick at mapping out the space, and you can notice areas it avoids such as cabinets, couches or litter boxes since it will not account for this space.
Roomba J7+ is pretty good about finding cables, it will mark out every cable it notices on it's adventure. Most of the time I will just tell it there is a temporary obstacle here, since it usually spots the cable for a fan we have to give the dog a cool spot during the summer, being a husky in the desert.
There is a little spot in the restroom that has a bench style mirror which we hide the litter box under also, the Roomba avoids the litter box, but somehow thinks it transitions from one room to the other under this space, it didn't go into the space since someone shut the door so it's not green in my screenshot, however I circled where the door is, put an oblong over where there is no entry and rectangle the counter. I need to check out if there is a way to modify, otherwise I may simply see if I can erase the map and have it start a new.
The Roomba app is a little nicer than my previous vacuum app, I am able to mark dividers for rooms, label each room and create Keep out zones or clean zones. I had created a keep out zone based on the suggestion after the cleaning, however I have mostly set up the dividers and labelled the rooms. You can create cleaning schedules, which I have set for the Roomba to just clean everywhere at a time during the week when I know no one is home.
I did create a new job in which I selected high traffic areas like the entry, living room and hallway to keep these clean when a everywhere cleaning is not required. The vacuum has more than enough battery to clean our place and conveniently empties the tray once completed. The emptying of the bin is the loudest portion of the cleaning, which sounds more like a traditional upright.
Overall I am very happy with the Roomba J7+, it helps us keep our space clean after whatever dirt the kids or pets bring it, and it is noticeably cleaner than the competition when walking around barefoot. I would definitely recommend the iRobot brand, just need to play more with the app but happy with this vacuums ability to clean!

Vast Improvement Over My 4-year-old Roomba

I have a Roomba 960 I purchased 4 years ago that is going strong. I have been looking for a second one so I can cover both floors without having to reposition it upstairs. The Roomba j7+ meets that criteria and a whole lot more.
I was surprised there wasn’t a manual that came with the j7, but the setup process was a breeze. I remember with my older Roomba, I had to connect my phone to the 960’s wifi signal for the initial setup, but not with the j7. I just had to walk through the simple setup wizard in the iRobot app and I just needed to enter the password for my wifi network and somehow it was transferred to the j7.
Speaking of the app, it is easy to use and is easy to switch between the two Roombas. After the second cleaning of my first floor, the app let me know that it was ready for me to set up my map. The j7 had mapped out my first floor and set up dividers between the rooms. I was able to customize them a little bit to match them to the floor plan and label each room. When I want to start a job, I can choose to clean the whole floor or select a specific room to clean. When you choose a specific room, the j7 obeys the boundaries and just does that single room. Very Cool!
In addition to labeling rooms, you can label Keep Out zones or Clean zones. Keep Out zones are for places you don’t want the Roomba to go. I don’t have any at the moment, but I expect I’ll use it when I have a Christmas tree up, so that it doesn’t try to run over the tree skirt. The zones show up on the map and you specify the dimensions in feet, so you can measure the area you want to include or exclude and be pretty accurate about it. A Clean zone is just the opposite, where you want the Roomba to clean a specific area. I set one up for my front door, so I can tell the Roomba to just go clean the front door area.
The Roomba itself just has a single button on top, so there isn’t much to do with it. That’s why the first part of this review revolved around the app, because that’s where you interact with the j7. I like the simple clean design on top and I love the green color scheme on the rollers and the Edge-Sweeping brush. I like how the dust bin on the Roomba swings out. The Clean Base tower is sleek as well. I don’t love that it uses a bag for the tower. It would be better if it wasn’t a disposable bag, but a bin, both from a recurring purchase perspective and an environmental perspective. I always found the area beneath the 960 was dirty, but the docking area on the Clean Base has been clean every time.
After the first pass through the house, the j7 knows what the house looks like and started to determine the best direction to clean each room. My 960 will go all in one direction based on the orientation of the Roomba when it starts and will sometimes clean part of a room, then go to the next room for a little bit, and back. The j7 seems to want to focus on one room at a time, which seems more efficient.
After a job, the iRobot app may notify you that there we some obstacles it encountered and wants you to review to let it know if this was a temporary obstacle or if you want to add it to a Keep Out Zone. The j7 takes a picture of the obstacle. It often found cords, but I have most of my cords in a place where it shouldn’t be an issue so I haven’t told it to add them to a Keep Out Zone.
Pros:
• Sleek design
• Cleans more intelligently than my Roomba 960
• I can clean a single room or area of the house without having to set up a physical or virtual battier
• I don’t have to set up a physical or virtual barrier for places I don’t want the j7 to clean
• I don’t have to empty the dust bin every time.
Cons:
• The vacuum on the Clean Base tower is VERY loud, so don’t plan to run your j7 while you sleep.
• Bags in the Clean Base tower are less desirable than a reusable bin, like the bin in the j7 itself
I haven’t found anything I don’t like about the Roomba j7 itself. The Clean Base tower has the 2 negative qualities I noted, but that doesn’t change how I feel about the whole package of the j7+. I definitely recommend the j7+ to anyone looking for a cleaning robot. If you don’t need the Clean Base tower, you could get just the j7 and all the things I love about the j7.

The iRobot Roomba j7+ is latest update to Roomba’s self-emptying robot vac’s. The j7+ is controlled via the iRobot companion app. The j7+ looks quite a bit different from the outgoing i7+, but still has that familiar Roomba shape and design. This isn’t my first robovac, but it is my first time with a Roomba, so I was looking forward to seeing the differences between my other vacs and the j7+.
Design and Features
The j7+ stick to the traditional round shape that Roomba’s have always had. It measures in at 13.5Ø” x 3.4”. The cleaning path (roller head width) is 6.75” while its side brush collects debris along the edge. The top design has moved away from the busyness of the i7+, and has gone to a simple brushed metal center and soft black plastic around it. Neither surfaces appear too prone to showing dust accumulation. On top of the robot is a singular button with an LED around its outer edge. The LED changes color based on the notification. Red ring is for a problem or low battery, white spiral while charging, sweeping red towards the rear for a full bin, and blue light for when its heading home. The button can be used to start or stop the vacuum with a simple press – holding it down for a few seconds cancels the job and sends it home. The front of the vac has the sensor array (object and cliff detectors, camera, and light) which will face the with dock while charging. The charging bay has a QR code that the vac must read, but I’m not sure its actual use. The rear has the removable dustbin with the attached filter. The dustbin hinges off with a button push, it opens further with another button push for easy emptying. The dustbin is washable (but not dishwasher safe). The removeable air filter must be taken off the bin before any rinsing out. The roller brushes aren’t brushes at all, but rather 2 counter rotating rubber cylinders with groove patterns. These resist the normal roller brush buildup of hair and fur. Another advertised feature is the object detection which allows the robot avoid objects in its path – a notable one is pet waste (we’ve all seen the videos where this used to go so very wrong). The manual still suggests picking up and clutter in order to make cleaning easier, but it is nice to know that my kids toys don’t bother it much.
The dock of the j7+ is noticeably different from the i7+. The dock still houses the charging station as well as the built-in vacuum to empty the j7+ after it finishes a cleaning run, The dock has become shorter, wider, and a bit more stylish. It uses a textured matte black plastic for the hopper that holds the disposable vacuum bags. The lid is a smooth plastic with a leather tab loop for the handle. The outer dimensions are 12.5 W x 13.25 H x 15.5 D. The power cord can wrap up on the backside so you can feed out however much or little you need. Overall the dock doesn’t add much to the total footprint of the vac. I’m not sure of the reasoning for changing up the dock shape but it likely allows for better stability and to fit under end tables/benches/etc.
Controlling your j7+ is done with the iRobot app. Inside are all the features and settings as well as scheduling, and documentation for your robot. Once you have done a cleaning or mapping run the app will show you your floorplan map. It lets you divide up the map into rooms, give them names, etc. You also have the ability to specify keep out zones and extra clean zones. The keep out zones eliminate the need barricading off areas or closing doors for room you don’t want cleaned. The extra clean areas are places where you want the j7+ to do a few extra passes – I noted an area rug that my husky frequents. You can customize cleaning tasks by making favorites. You group rooms or areas together that you may want cleaned and give them a name. This way if you want to rotate the cleaning schedule for rooms you can divvy it up with these favorites. The app also keeps a history of your cleanings – run times, number of extra dirty areas, and square footage covered.
Setup
The setup process was as easy as they come. The quick setup guide gives you details on how and where to position the dock. The app guides you through putting the vac on the doc, connecting to your Wi-Fi, naming it, and more. It was the simplest setup I have ever gone through on a robovac. The Wi-Fi setup alone was a few minutes faster. I would feel comfortable having my mom set this up on her own.
I let the vac charge for several hours (per the manual) before I set it out on its first run. I expected it to just do a mapping run, but that didn’t seem to be an option right from the get go. It did a cleaning run, but only vacuumed a small portion of my main floor before heading back. I had to send it out again for it to run the more of the house, but it still only did part of it. I ended up deleting the map and started again fresh. At this point I saw the option to just do a mapping run, which set it off around my entire main floor. I closed off doors to areas that I didn’t want it to go (pantry and bathroom), and I picked up the floors to keep a clear path. After the mapping run was over I was able to go in and configure the rooms, setup the keep out and extra clean zones, and create cleaning routine favorites.
Cleaning
Cleaning is pretty easy – select where you want the vac to go and it will do the job. You don’t have the ability to select ECO or turbo modes or anything that varies the suction strength. What the Roomba offers are modes that augment the amount of passes each room might get. Daily Cleaning mode gives each room one pass, Extra Clean does 2 passes, and Room-size Clean varies the number of passes based on the room size. I have mine set to Daily for right now – I think I can bump to extra and still make a single cleaning run with battery to spare. You can select where you want to clean - single room, group of rooms, or the whole house whenever you start a new cleaning job. It’s hard to tell how much the vac is picking up since I don’t have to empty the bin anymore. With my Neato I usually have to empty the bin mid run or else it fills up halfway though. However, it looks to be grabbing things up pretty well and I don’t see any husky fur drifts after it passes through.
The j7+ did a nice job of getting under my guest bed and going through the chair legs in my kitchen. Its slightly smaller size (compared to my other robovacs) made it a bit more maneuverable. There were a couple of problem areas that I believe impacted my earliest cleaning runs before I did a map reset. The j7+ seemed to struggle with climbing my carpet runner and area rug, as well as the base of my IKEA Poang chair. My carpet runner and area rug both have carpet pads underneath which makes them slightly taller than a normal runner/rug. The j7+ couldn’t go straight at the edge of the carpet and climb over like my Neato would, but rather it had to angle over it one wheel at a time. It initially bumped into the edge and determined that was a boundary it couldn’t cross. I adjusted the runner to make it a little easier on it, but it still seemed to transition cumbersomely. The same goes with the base of my IKEA chair. Its ¾” thick, and because the j7+ doesn’t seem to find the open side (the base is closed on 3 sides) it considers the area under the chair to be out of reach. It won’t try to traverse the base since the bump sensor clicks against the wood boards. Again my Neato would easily ramp up over the base and climb around it without too much difficulty.
Issues and Other Thoughts
Some things I always worry about on first runs are my stairs – always paranoid that the vac will pull a Thelma and Louise and go for a tumble. However, that has never happened and still hasn’t. The j7+ handled the top of my steps pretty well, so no worries here. Also the object detection and avoidance seemed to work well. I did a run where I left some clothes on the floor – it avoided the area without any issue.
Cleaning out the rollers is something I will have to do every week or so – I have a lot of girls in the house that shed as much as the husky. The cleaning process was very easy to follow. There is a diagram of how to do it in the manual and there are some helpful shapes/markings on the bottom so you can’t mess up reassembly. The only thing the base vacuum doesn’t seem to suction out of the collection bin is small rocks and other small rock-like debris.
I did like the integration with my Google Home system. It was pretty easy to tell the vac to start, pause, or go home with voice control. However, what didn’t work was trying to send the vacuum to a specific room with voice control. I would tell it to clean the kitchen, and the vac would start a whole house cleaning run. This happened for every room I tried.
If you happen to leave the vac off the dock for too long the battery will die. I did this last night and it sat for 24hrs off the dock, and the battery was flat. I put it back on the charger and it took a few minutes to build up enough charge to allow the vac to reconnect to the internet and start communicating with the app. The reason for this is due to the persistent internet connection and a few other features that are active even when the vac is on standby.
Overall, I really liked the Roomba j7+. The setup was a really high point for me and it made a great first impression. The app is well designed and easy to navigate – again I would feel comfortable giving something like this to my mom and letting her set it all up. The cleaning abilities of the j7+ are solid, and it comes loaded with plenty of features. The only downside I could find were its terrain traversing skills. The taller area rugs really threw it for a loop, and its something I have to be conscious of whenever I send it out to clean.

Wow have these advanced. Last robot vacuum I had was the white roomba, and it just sucked; not in a good way either!
This guy out of the box was very easy to set up it then started up and ran around my apartment mapping out the rooms without doing any cleaning. When it was finished the mapping that was displayed on the application was accurate, It even shows you areas that are carpeted.
I had vacuumed and cleaned my floors a few days prior, but the first time this thing ran through my entire Apartment I was shocked at how much Pet hair it picked up.
And that was just the basic setting for a quick everyday clean. I set it over to the deep clean option and it got even more hair up.
These things have finally advanced far enough to where this is a no-brainer purchase.
It hasn’t got stuck on anything including the shaggy doormat At my door, That absolutely surprised me. I thought for sure I was gonna have to pick it up, but nope, it handles it like a champ.
I haven’t even had it get stuck on anything and it’s smart enough to detect a dog toy in front of it and then move on around it. my apartment is around 1200 ft.²
The black Friday deal is on. You should run not walk to the nearest Best Buy that has this in stock.

As someone who was sceptical about the usefulness of robot vacuum cleaners, the iRobot Roomba j7+ has been a pleasant surprise. Not only does the robot clean extremely well but it does so with almost no intervention from me, taking itself back to its base station when it’s finished a cleaning run, or needs recharging, where it will then empty its bin.
Setting the robot up is very easy and within 10 minutes the robot started its first run around the house mapping the floor layout.
Once the mapping is complete the features available to you through the app are fantastic allowing you to:
- Instruct the robot to clean specific rooms (or areas within a room) on specific days and times in the day.
- Setup ‘keep out’ zones that instruct the robot to avoid areas
- See exactly where it has cleaned, when it cleaned and how long it took... and more
The obstacle avoidance system is also very good sending photos of obstacles it encountered during a cleaning run, through to the app on your phone, allowing you to then select if it is a temporary obstacle or one to avoid all the time.
Another big plus is the iRobot Roomba j7+ works with Amazon Alexa and/or Google voice assistants where once setup you can ‘ask’ the robot to clean your home, specific rooms or even specific areas within a room.
In short, the iRobot Roomba j7+ is a good addition to the home helping to make cleaning your house/home that much easier.

This is my first robovac so my review is without comparison to another product.
CONS:
1)Mapping the cleaning area took several times to complete.
2)Vacuum strength/suction not incredible but is sufficient for daily cleaning
3) battery: I have to manually place robot in my kitchen due to a 3” step. It can go down the step but not up so when I manually place it back on the dock I rarely get the battery contacts lined up and robot won’t charge.
PROS
1)Daily vacuuming on demand is priceless when there is a cat and husband in the household
2)Entertaining to watch the pets deal with this new addition
3)LOVE how it goes under furniture and beds!!!!

A relative rhighly recommended a Roomba. After looking at available models I decided on the J7+ Robot and I have not been disappointed. Assembly was minimal and easy. Connection to my home wi-fi was a snap and it is easy to run off the phone app. I can tell it to clean everywhere or specific areas. It can go out and map without cleaning or map while cleaning and updates as it goes. It goes where I tell it and does it cleaning and then returns to its base where it empties its contents into a bag. It has done a wonderful job picking up dirt and avoiding things that may be in its way. I have a cat and it has picked up any cat fur on the flow. It has done a great job on my carpeted areas as well as hard flooring. I have been extremely pleased with this purchase and would recommend this model.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I received the Roomba J7+. My wife and I wanted a Roomba for a while and finally pulled the trigger. Right out of the box the quality of the Roomba is evident and there is little to no physical set up. Once you download the app for your smart phone, you just follow the prompt to set up schedules, launch the Roomba to map the area, check the Roomba’s health, view history of previous vacuum runs and update the robot settings.
Once you have everything setup, you are ready to set it loose on your home to clean the floors and the rugs. The first thing the J7+ does is map out the area it will be cleaning. The Roomba roams in and out of rooms learning where doors and furniture are and cleaning along the way. The process for mapping can take several sessions depending on the size of the area to be cleaned, and cleans along the way. During the mapping and cleaning process the J7+ will return to the docking station to empty and recharge the battery.
The cleaning process is fascinating to watch as the Roomba wanders around the house cleaning, creating a set pattern that was created during mapping the area. If you are looking for the Roomba J7+ to be a deep cleaning vacuum, it is not. The J7+ is great for surface dust and animal hair on hardwood floors and rugs. You can schedule when the Roomba vacuums by days and time, so its runs don’t disturb you.
One area that can be a pain is regarding the vacuum bags. You get maybe two and a half cleanings before it needs to be changed depending on the size of the area being vacuumed. A reusable bag would be better, so you don’t have to buy bags over and over.
Overall, this is a great addition to our home cleaning routine and works better then I would have expected.

Only a week in but I am so happy with this purchase. This is my first robot vacuum and I think I waited until the right time. J7+ does a fantastic job of taking care of my rugs and carpets upstairs. My GF and her dog are moving in and he’s a beast and makes a bit of mess. I have it set to vacuum every night at 130 and have it set to include my wood floors in the living room and kitchen 2 nights a week. The mapping works really well on this vacuum. I have my lights turn on automatically when it vacs but have also tested this in the dark. The front LED helps it navigate well even in the dark. Object recognition has worked really well so far. I feel it gets the appropriate amount of dirt and hair picked up. I will use this and still have my cleaner run the Dyson twice a month. I paired this with the M6 Braava. The mapping on the J7 is far superior but I think the Braava will be great after another couple of weeks.
Cons are the loudness of the emptying of the dust bin. It is a fairly short process but it is very loud and I would think they could improve upon this. The battery life could be much better as well. They do make 3rd party batteries but I have not bought one and will not likely do so. It does dock itself and recharge and return to finish the job.
I picked this up for $699 and think for that price if the equipment holds up it will be well worth it.

This one does what's expected from a robot vacuum with the following characteristics
1. Decent vacuum power: If you need a more powerful robot vacuum then go for S9 or even a different brand. It does a good job on hard floor and OK job on carpet. There was a room to enhance the suction power although iRobot has never claimed that J7 is their best in vacuuming power, but yes it could have been better. In my opinion there is no robot vacuum in the world will suck all hidden dirt from your carpets, carpets need a powerful cord powered vacuum with a rolling brush for deep cleaning. So in the end this one does what I was expecting it to do. Also do not expect great cleaning around corners.
2. Easy setup: it took me few mins to set it up and send for the first mapping trip
3. impressive mapping: It took 2 mapping runs to get a really precise map of my floor plan.
4. Object avoidance: I don't have a pet so I cannot tell if it really avoid poop but for all other objects we have occasionally on the floor (like slippers and cords) it did a great job to void. It also send you a photo of what has been avoided and you have the option to mark that object as permanent or temp, if it's temp you can send it back to clean the area that was skipped.
5. Hair suction: Yes I do not have a pet, but my wife's hair is worse, it's everywhere and this one does a decent job picking it up. Although some times it rolls around the vacuum rollers and you have to clean it manually
6. Decent battery life: It works for around 90 mins, which is what has been claimed as the battery life by iRobot. I am surprised that some people say it doesn't have a good battery and I advise them to read the specs before shopping so they set their expectations correctly. With such battery I can send her to clean twice on one floor before it needs to charge. I have a small house and this works for my needs.
7. Self-emptying: working great, it's really loud as you will read in all other reviews, you will feel like standing beside a jet but that's only for few seconds. I do not see that as a bad thing like some others, I see that as a plus to guarantee emptying the vacuum with less manual interruption.

I have hard surface floors with area rugs in your typical places, front door, kitchen sink, mud room and under the dinning table and this thing does great on all of them. Completely mapped out the house after a few cleans in which you can name the rooms also tracks the different substrates, shares pictures you can view on the app to verify temporary or permanent obstacle. Notifies you of issues when not working properly. I mean these things are only getting better. Just wish it wasn't so expensive.

We bought one for our main floor. We have three children, three dogs and two cats. This machine works so well on pet hair! It avoids pet messes, knows the house layout better than I do AND you can control it through the app!
We schedule daily cleanings but when we feel like we need another sweep, we go to the app and turn it on.
We now have THREE! One for each floor of the house. It saves me so much time throughout the week helping keep the house fresh and clean.
It even empties itself! It cannot get any easier!
