This was a Christmas present for my wife. This vacuum worked like a dream for a week. Then it would no longer navigate. I spent hours with Irobot technical support and no luck. They put in for a warranty replacement machine to be shipped to me. That was two weeks ago and it is still on "backorder," and has not been shipped. Needless to say, I am exceptionally unhappy after paying the amount I did for this product.

Had to buy the top of the lines roomba, since the sub 500 don't like black rugs or rugs with black stripes. The room mapping is a plus, prevents it from getting stuck or chewing up cables etc.

This vacuum is awesome. Sure it costs as much as a high end smartphone, but if you have to have the best robot vacuum, then this is it. It's a relatively quiet robot vacuum. Still loud enough for it to annoy your dog. It does seem to adjust its suction when its on hard floor vs. carpet so there is that. It transitions well between them. It is a good vacuum first and foremost so there is that. The design is beautiful and sleek. It really seems to scream luxury with its design. It is very easy to empty. The cartridge is easy to clean. However, what sets it apart from the others is the mapping. The s9's smart mapping feature is sick. It is scary how well it can map your living space after a few runs. A lot of robot vacuums these days have that feature but the Roomba is really good at it. The biggest draw for me was that it can clean specific rooms. There are certain areas of the house that need more attention and this baby can target it or it can avoid some of the areas with more junk around. Once the floor is memorized, then you can set up areas which you want the vacuum to avoid. This feature is way more useful than you realize. I really do think that this smart mapping is the best on a robot vacuum. Watching the vacuum is almost scary. You can almost see it thinking when it stops in the middle of the room and then chooses a direction. There are some flaws. The smart navigation is not foolproof. Sometimes it just seems to want to do its own thing. It will miss cleaning the room that I specified or even clean a room that I had marked it to avoid. Also, there were a couple times when it got stuck in a narrow space and really couldn't make it out. These issues were relatively rare but something to be aware of. These issues will hopefully improve with software updates. All in all, this is a great vacuum. If you want the best money can buy then this is it.

Roomba S9 is clearly a strong development into the vacuum robot’s technology and the good news are that is already available in the market, just need to do the investment. Basically, with all the new additions, I have the impression that I can talk to my device (using the app) fixing the basic parameters: what, when, how deep and for how long the vacuuming should occur. We are a family with couple of young kids and some allergies to dust, so we own many vacuum devices with all kind of powers and features, including a previous model of a vacuum robot. After comparing all of them, I am sure that Roomba S9 delivers the highest level of cleanness in the house floors with independence of the surfaces (in my house most of the areas are carpet but we also have some areas with linoleum and hardwood). Few main reasons to explain the comment: first, the shape like a D with a flat front (versus previous completely round models: O shape), allows the robot to reach corners and the narrow areas. The inclusion of a corner brushes completes the job. Two: when I compare with other robots that I own, I observe that the program that controls the navigation has been developed to increase the number of times that each square foot is vacuumed by a more insistent passing program. Three: the two brushes integrated underneath serve to attract each piece of dust without caring the size by being installed so close to each other. It’s like moving and suctioning when others sometimes only move the dust. Four: the sensors to avoid the objects and the wheels are clearly well installed and is strong with the bumpers, in many activities, I didn’t experience a single blockage or jam that required human interaction. The app (I use the android version) is in my opinion adds an unlimited power addition to the kit. I see the app as the method to interact and define the task that it’s being requested from the robot. Easy to install, despite the first upgrade/update of the software took some time, is quite intuitive and I found that has a so extensive number of options that I recommend investing some time in exploring all of them, to make sure that the experience can be maximized. From the more basic controls like language, metrics, when to start the work or when to return to home, the definition of suction power and noise level you can control a big number of preferences and the basic robot configuration (wifi, cleaning level..). Additionally, and the big guau factor is the capacity deployed by the robot of mapping the house surface while the vacuuming (it took three times to complete the map) that serves you to determine future works. Two new discoveries are that the mapping includes the level of wifi coverage in the different areas or the house and the areas where more dust was collected. My only single concern (the reason for 4 starts) with this product is referred to the small size of dust bins. Seems contradictory that with such suction power they integrated a so small bins that get full after 30 minutes of suction making compulsory for me to stop the process to empty it before the full surface is fully covered. After exploring in the web I discovered that there is a version that will include a base/home that serves for automatic dirt disposal at an additional cost. In my opinion, having the model without this addition, makes less powerful the investment and should be a must and not even an option for the purchaser, notably considering the size of the investment.

Great job getting into ever book and cranny! Gotta pick every little thing up off the floor before you set it loose but the programmable mapping works amazing!

This was great while it worked. We’ve had ours 3 months and today it tells me that it isn’t in an even surface. I attempted to adjust it in every way but no luck. It continues to say it is on uneven ground. I even reset it but nothing. It won’t even connect to the app or show up on WiFi now. Complete dud

I have had this product for less than a year. Started facing issues with it in the third month itself. Vendor replaced this product twice now after lengthy troubleshooting. And i am facing a new docking undocking issue with it now. Extremely disappointed. Wish i could return it.

We always did like the iRobot - Roomba s9, you can program it to clean when your not home. If you forget to start it you can do that with your phone

I've generally been a fan of Roombas, although the 960 and 980 I have frequently get lost or don't finish. I was expecting more out of this newer model. The app features are great, but this model frequently has an error 31, which requires a hard reboot. It happens almost every time now and only runs for a minute. Maybe I just got a bad one..

Darn iRobot works as advertised! The mapping feature actually mapped my rooms accurately. What more can you ask?

1 of the best investments if you have animals! They are expensive but alot of time saved too!

A lot better version than the i7, extra power helps gain better vavuuming abilities. Highly recommend this model.

Excellent quality and model. It is kind of expensive but does the job. I’ve only been using it for a month, so far so good.

Since I am disabled this is invaluable to me.....great machine cleans well...love it.....great investment for me....

It run into your furniture hard run into your wall

It worked great for 90 days and I was so happy with it, until it broke after only 90 days. It went run at all, just keeps saying error 31 please reboot the robot ( this is a communication error sure to the internal board malfunctioning). I rebooted and even factory reset and called support with no luck. Now they seem to be dragging their feet about sending a warranty replacement. I regret spending so much on it and seeing how much they're customer support has declined over the years.

Works as expected. No problems with this product. Well worth the money.

I had a 5 year old model that quit working. Upgraded to this and we love it.
