This security system seems to have been a great choice. It was simple to set up, and came with enough equipment to get you started. I also purchased two of the smart video cameras, putting one at each doorway. This way I can keep an eye on my house in the country, and not have to worry. The app is pretty intuitive. They seem to be updating it fairly often, which is reassuring, and let me know that there will continue to be advances. I can look around the house on my cameras, controlling them from my phone. It's also neat that you can add more contact sensors, cameras, or even motion detectors. Overall, I am pretty satisfied, and do not regret my purchase.

Got this after buying numerous off-brand GSM security systems. Unlike those systems, this one uses your cable/satellite internet service to stay in communication with you (by way of your smartphone). The setup is handled thru a guided tutorial on your smartphone. I had to try three times to get the main unit to link to my account, but once it did, all was good. The system sends all kinds of information like when each sensor detects something or when a certain remote (person) comes back to the house (heck, I even got a notice that one of the remotes was getting low on batteries). The system does what is suppose to just fine; I only wish there was a GSM option so that if the cable goes out, I wouldn't temporarily be out of a security system.

    Works well so far

I'm only using a fraction of the System's capabilities, with just one Contact Sensor and one Remote Tag to monitor the bedroom door of a loved one who sometimes wanders at night. I keep my iPhone next to my bed at night, so I get a text and a call if the door is opened. I don't want loud sirens (so I turned the siren off), and I don't use the motion sensor or a camera. The system was an expensive initial investment for this limited use case, but it works perfectly so far for this purpose, because I don't need and don't have to pay for any monthly monitoring or notification service for the local Police. Initial setup was relatively easy. The instructions on the web and via the smartphone app are pretty self explanatory. The app works well on my iPhone, but I installed it on my wife's off-brand Android phone and it did not seem to work properly. I don't know if it was the Android device that caused the problem, or trying to control the iSmart Cube with two different devices at the same time. The iSmart Cube kept freezing up, and requiring a reboot. So, I unistalled the app from my wife's phone, and she just uses the Remote Tag to arm and disarm the alarm. She still gets calls and texts on her phone when the system alarms, though, because the app allows me to add up to three (cell) phone numbers to an automatic call list, whether or not the app is installed on those devices. The system seems to be thoughtfully designed. One feature I like in particular is the optional "doorbell" chime that sounds whenever a door with a Contact Sensor is opened. This means we can monitor the door throughout the day, even when the alarm is turned of, and even if I am not carrying my phone.

    Best Budget Alarm

Great Alarm system. Comes with the iSmart Alarm Cube which is the brains of the alarm system, a key fob type remote to arm, disarm, home and panic, a motion sensor, and 3 contact sensors for doors and windows. I purchased the iCamera Keep along with this alarm for even more functionality, but it is not needed. The iSmart Alarm has an app that is good for both Android and Apple phones. It can alert you when your alarm is going off, when a door or window is opened and even which door or window it was, and logs whenever a door or window is opened as well. All contact sensors, motion detectors and the remote key fob run on batteries and are very easy to install. The contact sensors work pretty far away as well, I would say in my case at least 40 feet away. My only drawbacks are that they do not provide enough sensors for most houses or apartments many doors, windows and other openings. That being said, they do sell additional contact sensors for another cost. Another drawback is the alarm is not loud enough once it goes off. It is loud, but not what you think a holme alarm loudness should be. Overall this is a great budget alarm and can be moved from apartment to apartment if you ever move.

Setup was super easy. I get notifications when the patio door is opened and this saves me a bit of peace of mind. The charm and notification is not loud enough though. I believe a louder siren or notification on the hub is needed though. They have this as an add-on but I haven't seen it available anywhere.

This system is easy to set up and install, with adhesive pads for each sensor. Works well for an apartment. Some of the sensors that are far from the base station and router are a little twitchy, but this would likely be resolved with a WiFi range extender. Overall, a good system for anyone who wants an alarm without monthly fees, or for someone who doesn't own their home.

Got this as added protection for our small apartment and two months in we're very pleased. Works well and I love that it connects with ifttt.com. Have a rule set up that if my wife's or my phone enters enters within 100ft of the apartment it unarms & have it automatically set to arm at a certain time of night. We're on the second floor and only have a main door and two windows accessible from the patio so the 3 contact sensors were just enough. If you were on the 1st floor or had more doors & windows you'd definitely need more contact sensors which you can buy but there're not exactly cheap. I also like the fact that it has an option to add a video camera if needed/wanted down the line. Overall I like the product and it was worth the price. I'd buy it again.

I really like this security system. Installing was easy. Used the double sided command strips for the door/window sensors, and we ended up screwing the motion detectors in the wall because I didn't want them falling. The cube needs to be plugged directly into the network. For me that isn't in the middle of my house so it can be hard to hear on the other side of the house. The app is easy to use and I really like the customization. You can create a custom mode where you can have some devices armed while others are not. This gives you much more options for arming instead of the basic home or away. Another feature I really like is the IFTTT integration. A couple things I use are my Amazon Echo to turn the alarm on and off, and have the alarm disarm when I come home. I have added an additional motion sensor and would like to add the Satellite Siren at some point as well. Overall, I really like the cost (no monthly fees) and technology in this product and would definitely recommend this to a friend.

I bought this on special for $130 plus a $25 gift card. I feel this is a good price point for this device. I am not recommending this product due to the following: - Proprietary communication protocol. If the brain dies the sensors are useless. No redundancy can be built into the system. - No API. You can only use mobile apps to control the system and receive notifications. This rules out ALL software extensible options. - The "smart" in iSmartAlarm is stretching it a bit. There is no scheduler to turn on and off the system or any type of logic you can use. It's all manual unless you sign up for an IFTTT account which if you've ever used IFTTT is very hit and miss. If you lose your cell phone the system is pretty much dead in the water. - Horrible communication. This is very ironic since it is a community funded project starting as an Indiegogo campaign. No blog or updates at all. Everything suggested in the forums on the website is "in development" or "currently being worked on" for threads going back years. I was looking at other solutions for just a door/window opening notification system and at ~$100 this was worth a shot. It's certainly not in the league of the big boys yet and has a lot of growth before it can be recommended for the job they advertise on the package.

Very easy setup and install. App isn't the best laid out but easy enough once you learn it. I have had one problem - can't get app to connect when on 3G connection. Works fine on a newer 4G phone. I have an open ticket with iSmart; engineers are investigating. I suspect the problem is backward compatibility problem with my phone and cell service provider. This might be something to be aware of if you're using an older phone. iSmart Customer Service has been very good but open a ticket on their web site. Calling just went to Voicemail. The Best Buy package had the mix of devices I wanted to start with (3 door sensors, 1 Motion, 1 Remote). Packages available elsewhere have a different mix. App currently requires a device that can receive calls and texts (e.g. smartphone and not a tablet). So far, I am happy with this product as it is doing what I expected (except the lack of 3G connection on my older phone as previously discussed). In my "testing", everything worked as planned. Therefore, I will assume if a bad guy breaks in, it will work the same as testing. Hopefully, I will never find out. Keep in mind, this is a fairly new product from a fairly new/small company. Both the company and their products are maturing. As long as they continue to enhance the app with better/more functionality and keep rolling out new hardware to add on (e.g. smoke detector, water detector, doorbell camera, glass breakage, home automation, etc) then I will be happy. I have 2 of the new iSmart Spot cameras on the way. Hopefully, I will like these as well as what I have installed so far.

Easy to setup and a simple interface to use. Alarm was rather loud if you're in the same room, but not if you're in the back of the house or outside. There is an additional alarm that you can buy to add to the system, so that helped. I wish the sound for the door sensors were a little louder, but they're not bad at all. Much cheaper than paying ADT and is a good home alarm system.

Perfect DIY alarm. No monthly fees and you get notifications to fit your liking. If the alarm is tripped, you can get a phone call, text and email as well as an alert via the app. Works for me. The cameras seem pretty cool too. I have not bought those yet. The only negative I have is that the speaker isn't super loud. In some ways that's nice because I've had some accidental trips, but with the speaker in one location it may be hard to deter if you can't hear it very well. Overall, I'm glad I got it.

Had this going for about a month now and it's great for the most part. The actual unit works great but the app needs improvement. I only have the notifications sent to my phone since you get a notification every time one of the contact sensors is triggered. Meaning every time one of our exterior doors opens and closes, I get a notification! Once when it opens and once when it closes. This can get annoying that's why it's not on my wife's phone. There is no notification if the motion sensor is tripped though which I wish was included. If the motion sensor trips it sets off the timer then the alarm. If you have a dog it will set it off with no warning on the phone. Just an alert that the alarm was activated. The alarm is loud inside but not really enough to alert the neighbors. One of the contact sensors fell off while we were away setting off the alarm. So we called the police. Luckily there was no break in but I bought some super glue that night!!!over all a great product. Bought it on Black Friday for half price.

So far, so good. Alarm works well, and it was easy to add new devices. The siren is not as loud as I expected it to be; I had to purchase a satellite siren for my elderly father. When I had an issue with the app, support responded very quickly. Happy with my purchase.

This system gives a great peace of mind when I'm away from home. I first purchased the iCamera Keep and it was easy to add to the cube one however once connected to the system it no longer sends alerts that motion or sound was detected. The motion sensor is constantly triggered by my small dog even though it says pets under 30 lbs typically won't activate the sensor. I have to turn off the motion sensor during the day - my option is to move it to a place where the pets are not frequently out and about. I got this system mostly so I could see my son get home from school and feel more secure. That's achieved and the price is right. Wifi connection was spotty at first but I added an extender and that issue was resolved. Wasn't anything to do with the system itself.

Setup was a breeze, the only thing i would change is when you start adding devices, do them one at a time, that way you can name them as you move along (like front door, back door, etc...) Notifications come straight to your phone, email, and by text! This has only been implemented for about a month now and have had no false alarms. The range is great too, I put one on the shed way outside and it communicates back to the cube with no problem! the motion detector has good range of about 20foot, wish this was a little longer but if you strategically place it you wont have a problem. Batteries are easy to get too, though i havent had a reason to change them since they are all still showing full battery. I would highly recommend this to everyone that is looking for security of their property! You can also add ismartalarm cameras to this and see them through the same app. I have another camera system that wont communicate through this but hopefully one day they will allow different systems to integrate together. Adding others to have access to this system helps as well if you have frequent trustworthy guests they just add the app and scan your join code from your phone, and they can arm and disarm the system but they wont have access to change any of the notifications or alarm settings.

We love that there are no monthly fees with this easy to use security system. It gives us peace of mind that our home is safe whether we're home or away. My only recommendation to the Ismart design team would be to up the volume or make it adjustable on the unit.

This is a good alarm system. There are no hidden fees or subscription needed. This is not perfect, but it works well, and has enough sensors to get started with a small or average sized home. One downside, is that the motion detector was picking up some activity from a small family pet. I may have to adjust the position of the motion detector, as it is supposed to be pet friendly, but otherwise everything else was working well. If you have pets, you may want to think about how and where to use the motion detector. I like the ability to control this with my smart phone. Note, the current app won't allow use on a tablet. I'm not sure why and this is a little frustrating as a tablet is a natural controller when you are at home.

Very good security system for the money especially if u do not want to pay for a monthly fee. One con for me is that the only option to connect the cube to the internet is through ethernet cable, the box doesnt have wifi as far as connecting the cube. But besides that its a pretty good system.
