I was trying to connect this cable from a Mac hdmi output port to Asus monitor with a display port for transmitting both audio and video, but it did not help. I had to return it.

I understand the confusion regarding this cable. This cable only works in one direction; from a computer’s Display Port output to a monitor’s HDMI port. It will not work in the other direction. Thank you for taking your time to leave a review.

Amazon has a 30 day so I will not return to Best Buy to buy any products from now on. I can't believe they wouldn't give me a store credit?? They wouldn't lose any money doing that.
