Only one monitor would connect, no matter what I tried. I was using a new, high the gaming laptop from MSI that ran Windows 11. The heat this docking unit generated when connected to the thunderbolt port on my laptop was rediculous. I seriously thought it was going to melt and cause a fire it got so hot. I stuffed up returning it and got a powered thunderbolt docking station that actually does work and can display 4 external monitors.

Posted .This dock requires a DisplayPort v1.4 Alt Mode-enabled port that supports Multi-Stream Transport (MST) in order to output to dual or triple displays. Some laptops, even high-performance models, may have USB-C or Thunderbolt ports that don’t support MST for multiple external displays, which could explain why only one monitor was detected.
As for the heat you noticed, the dock can become warm during high data or display output due to its compact aluminum design, which naturally dissipates heat.

Expensive Paperweight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never felt compelled to write a review for a Best Buy product before, but WOW what a hunk of junk. I spent an entire night troubleshooting what might be wrong with my laptop setup, not once considering that the new mini dock I just bought was simply garbage. I bought this as an upgrade to another dock to be able to use displayport, which at first worked fine, along with the ethernet connection. However as soon as I connected my USB devices (razer gaming mouse, keyboard, speakers), all hell broke loose. All of my devices would randomly lock up and stop working intermittently with windows making it's chiming new device sound repeatedly. At first I thought it was a synapse issue so I did a reinstall of that, and everything else I could think of before realizing that the mini dock was sporadically showing an exclamation mark in device manager. It was also causing weird battery charge errors even though I had the charger connected directly to the laptop. At one point my monitor even started spazzing out and showing static, so it dawned on me that "hey, I there's nothing wrong with my PC. I simply bought a trash mini dock." I disconnected everything and reconnected through my old dock and haven't had a single issue.

I used a $10.00 award earned from previous purchases but BestBuy DENIED their promised and didn't live up to their word. I paid too much. Trusted too much.
