A little pricey, but laptops don't have the option to add a PCI card so I guess the options are limited. It definitely accomplishes what I need it to do.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned the HP dock that didn't work which only allowed either of the 2 ports to work. This units allows both ports. That gives you 3 extra monitors, 1 on the laptop and 2 on the dock.

A Solid and Versatile Accessory for older MacBook

Had some difficulty getting my HDMI display recognized. With the help of the manuafacturer's tech support, was able to get it working OK, however it does result in a somewhat creepy "screen being observed" message. Also can't unlock the screen with my Apple Watch in that mode, but neither of those issues are game changing. Would have been 5 stars except for that.

Posted .Screen recording just means, it essentially allows video in or out of the computer, video conferencing such as zoom or google meet also requires this to be enabled otherwise they will not work.
There should be a power button to turn the laptop

Other than that the device works great, I have my external monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse connected to it also. There are 4 USB ports. The other problem is the VGA cable has no place to screw in when plugged into this device so you have to be careful when moving the laptop.

There may be a solution for the problem you are having with the dock losing power when the laptop is closed. Depending on the operating system you are using there are power options that you can select for when your laptop lid is closed.

High quality Hub

I have connected my smart TV via HDMI and a Blu-ray via USB. I have not yet tried the SVGA port or the Ethernet port.

Surfacebook 1 doesn't have USB-C port, this USB docking station is a great tool. Surfebook's genuine docking station is large and heavy but this one is great for traveling.
