J5 Webcam Where was this when Covid first started and everyone was working from home. You couldn't find a webcam anywhere!!! Setup was extremely easy. Plug and play and it work like any other webcam. I tested it with Zoom and Teams and it worked great. 4K quality... I couldn't really tell the difference. For most of my calls 4K isn't necessary and I couldn't really tell the difference. At the price point I was expecting more but it is 4K at 30FPS. Most will need to dial it back to get better frame rates. It has same mounting options as most others with the bi-fold support that you can rest on the top of a monitor, set on your desktop or use the threaded mount for a tripod or other camera mounts. I did like the fact that it had a USB-C plug and a USB-C to USB-A adapter tethered to the cable. With a lot of laptops moving to USB-C and a lot of the gaming laptop from a few brands not including a webcam it's not too bulky that you couldn't toss it in your laptop bag. I do wish that the support and actual camera could be separated. If I did toss it in my laptop bag I might be concerned about breaking something, or maybe it would be nice to include a small travel bag with it to protect it. But again I understand that this is primarily marketed towards desktop users since most laptops have webcams. I did find the J5 Webcam Companion app pretty cool though. I downloaded and installed on my home Windows 10 computer. The app was easy to install and when I didn't have the camera plugged in it told me no J5 cameras were detected (I did have a Logi camera plugged in at the time so it knew the difference). Once launched I loved the fact that there are zoom features. My workspace dictates that I have my webcam set back a bit so with the wideangle lense I pick up EVERYTHING in my home office, which isn't desirable. So loading the app gives you a lot more settings that you can fine tune the image from the camera. The app allows you to set brightness, chromatic correction, contrast, hue and saturation. You can zoom with 3 preset fields of view or tune with the plus and minus on a slider bar, whichever works best for you. Heck in tightest zoom I could almost count my nose hairs... LOL. You can also do a pan and tilt of the camera display image. So for me the app give me something I had been missing before in my colaborative meeting tools, excluding the nose hairs. At $130 this might be a stretch purchase for me. There are other alternatives that I think would give you a better bang for your buck. I keep asking myself is 4K really needed for my use. My answer is not really and I could easily save $50 by purchasing something better suited for my personal use. But if you truly need 4K the J5 offering might be right for you.

The JVU430 USB™ 4K Ultra HD Webcam is a new Ultra HD webcam that is Chrome OS, Mac and PC compatible. As with all the J5 products I own this is great looking and well designed. The monitor attachment is stable and includes a tripod mount point. The cam has a 360 degree swivel with tilt adjustment allowing you to position the camera at any angle. There is a well designed security lens cover that is not an afterthought. The folks at J5create have even included a USB C to USB A adapter that is attached to the cord. This gives you compatibility for many devices. As for the image it is great due to the 4k 8mp sensor and F/2.0 aperture lens with 94° diagonal field of view and with up to 60 FPS even in a low-light The wide 94 degree field of view with 2x zoom allows pan with the Webcam Companion App. The app also gives you the ability to adjust brightness, exposure, saturation and contrast. The compainion app is avalible for download from the J5create website. They do provide a QR code on the documentation but if you have no webcam to start with you will have to go to the site to download. The sound capture is very good due to the dual microphones, My chat sessions on all apps was great according to the other participants. If you need a great webcam compatible with most devices J5 create has produced a winner! Highly recommended.

I bought this for travel and multiplatform use. So far it has plug and played with Windows and Linux systems flawlessly. The field of view is wider than other cameras I have had and the mounting clip is pretty versatile, and grips well. I am very happy with the video - had some issues with latency, but was able to clear that up in video software settings. Very nice!

The webcam looks and feels sturdy. The image quality is ok. I downloaded the webcam companion app and made sure all the drivers were installed. I must say, you need to really work on the lighting when your cam is activated way too overexposed, but you can fix that in the settings (companion app). Right off the bat I would not recommend this for streaming. 4k is nice, but at 30fps not so much. 720p is when you can increase your fps and it starts to look more fluid. 4k is unnecessary unless you are worried about reading small fonts on a live stream (i.e Zoom classes, working from home, skype etc.) You can get something a tad bit cheaper with a lot of those features and to me that matters more. The privacy shutter is a huge plus. J5create worries about privacy and that’s a plus in my book. Now as to the price. The price is a bit too high for my taste but I do believe you get what you pay for. This product was a little underwhelming and does not exactly hit the “bang for your buck” factor that I look for in every product. Yeah, it is packed with features that sound good on paper but once trying them out you get a sense of being cheated due to the underperformance. It sounds like I’m bagging on this product, but this is great for someone who solely focuses on video chat calls.

Hello, the webcams are great for conference calls, meetings, schooling, etc. When streaming the highest fps is 30Hz in 4k and 60Hz in 1080. You could also try using OBS software. This webcam is really hard for me to rate. It has less to do with the quality of the webcam as it does the quality vs. price consideration I generally give items I buy. I got this webcam as the monitor I bought when mine died is basic, no camera, no microphone, no speakers, nothing but it was the only monitor available that fit the space. So, I wanted a basic webcam as more and more events are being done on-line. As a basic webcam, I'm happy with it. It installed quickly and easily and the directions, while very small type, were succinct. I can do video chats with no difficulty, the sound and picture quality is good and I especially like that I can cover the camera part quickly in case a little one decides to run naked through the room. It sits easily on the monitor and has a space underneath where you can put it on a tripod. It is easy to tell if the webcam is powered on and whether it is in use. The problem is whether it is worth the asking price. Now, it is doing the job I want it to do so it comes down to whether the buyer feels that the webcam is worth the price. It really is an individual decision. I recommend the webcam based on the fact that it is doing the job I want it to do.

Upgrade from Built in 720p Camera

Overall this a good web cam. I suspect there are other options that provide a similar experience with a better value, though. Using on Windows, this camera is much better than the built in 720p camera. Setup was simple, I didn’t bother installing the companion app as things work well out of the box. The colors seem fine, microphones work well. I like the USB type C plug (with the type A adapter on the cable). The camera is easily adjustable. I really like that there is a physical camera cover. Using on a MacBook Air (M1), things work OK. The picture is a bit grainy and not nearly as bright as the built in camera. But, I like to attend meetings using an external monitor, with the laptop off to the side. So, I’m fine with the sacrifice in quality to have a better camera position. The cable on this camera is long enough to stretch across my desk and then some, so that shouldn’t be an issue for most people. For everyday work meetings this does the job. For most, this is probably an upgrade from a built-in camera.

Thank you for your feedback on using the webcam. The companion app just gives picture settings, such as brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma, opacity, resolution, etc., are dependent on the application being used along side the j5create USB HD Webcam. If you are interested in just playing around with it, please visit j5create.com and select Support > Downloads/Drivers and input JVU430 in a box that states "Type your model number here". A webcam for everyday use

The j5Create webcam is a solid choice for everyday webcam usage. I recently went from an iMac to a Mac mini (intel) so a webcam was a welcomed addition to my three-monitor-no-webcam set up. Originally, I was concerned the webcam was not going to be compatible with my set up - but it literally is just plug and play. I was quite impressed with how quickly the computer found and was able to use the webcam. I also use Windows (via a virtual PC application) on my Mac and the integration was also seamless there. I have a LOT of online meetings these days and I asked people to provide feedback on my "new webcam" and everyone said it was definitely an upgrade from previous meetings where I had been using my other computer (a PC laptop) and the built-in webcam. I was told the picture was clear, had good color and resolution - though not up to par with true 4K. The webcam mount feels sturdy and is easy to install on a monitor. Aside from the picture being clear, I did go back and listen to a recorded meeting and was really impressed with the quality of the sound - it was very high quality with very little background noise. It was really quite impressive. I also like the USB-C connection as that's becoming more and more common and was the only port I actually had available on my dock! j5Create does include a USB converter for use with the traditional USB-A, though I didn't have a need to use it. Overall impression - for me, this was a great addition to my set up and the webcam did exactly what it was supposed to do. Though the picture itself doesn't really look "4K," it was certainly clear enough for meetings. I was particularly impressed with the microphones and the sound - quite an upgrade from the PC laptop I have been using for most of my online meetings. So, the end thought - for the money, I think this is a decent 'everyday use' webcam and a reasonably good value overall. I'd recommend it for people who either do not have a webcam or are looking for a step or two up from the webcam natively installed on their laptop.

Nowadays its better to have a good camera and clear audio because of all the meetings that are taking place using video conference software. And something that I really liked about this J5 webcam is that when you do a live view, the camera doesn’t have a noticeable video delay. It has a steady video quality response with no latency. I have used it at work and at home, and compared the video responsiveness going out the internet, not using the same network, but a hotspot on the other end, while I am able to witness and I was impressed. Video Calls, pictures and sound were clear and stable. The wide angle lens really makes it look different the video comparing to my old WebCam. And there is a sensor for light sensitivity adjusting the clarity in low light environments that works really well too. The installation is simple, plug and play. I installed it in my desktop with windows 10 and the drivers were added automatically, didn’t need to do anything else. ZOOM and Skype apps work flawlessly. Then I connected it in my laptop, which already had an integrated camera. I had to disable it in the device manager in order to have the J5 working. I loved the privacy cover! It is a great idea, with my old webcam I had a piece of cardboard with tape to cover the lens. And the USB C cable with the USB-A adapter is another plus. The camera has a 360 degree rotation capability and 2 mics. The instruction manual is easy to follow, includes a QR code to install the Web Companion App, one for Apple and one for Windows. The QR code for Apple works fine, but for windows I got the “web error page”. However I was able to install it by going to the j5create.com “support”, download drivers”, and then look for the model JVU430. Once you download the app it will allows you to adjust video settings, color, resolution. I noticed that it was not in the higher resolution by default so I set it up to the maximum performance. You need to be aware that higher resolution means more Internet bandwidth to get a good video performance on the other site. But if you are using for recording video this is awesome. The size is perfect for traveling, and the base is adjustable to accommodate on almost any place, with a built in screw for universal tripod mount. Very efficient Web Camera that delivers what it promises, good video and audio response.

The j5create – USB 4k ultra-Webcam just don’t cut it. I could not get a clear 4K picture output. I changed the settings and could only get what looked like a TV monitor. Even changing the frame rate did not improve the picture. Do not get me wrong, it is plug and play with out any adjustments. It is just not Ultra High-Definition Quality. The audio portion is of excellent quality with dual pickup. There is also a wide-angle lens that swivels. I would not recommend this webcam to friends and family.

I have been using another HD (1080p) camera for the past several years and have been pretty happy with it. Now that I do a lot of calls from home I decided to upgrade to a 4k camera. Now there is good an bad with doing this. First the good, setting up the JVU430 was extremely simple; literally just plug it into the USB port. By the time I sat back down the install was complete so it took less than about 10 seconds. I started the camera app on my Windows 10 machine and was presented with a picture that had amazing quality and was extremely smooth. I test the sound quality and the stereo microphones have produce a rich quality sound for the folks on the other end. Other neat little features include a clip on stand that looks like it would work on just about any monitor. It also has a privacy cover that is easy to flip down. As for the not great things, the "green" light that shows the camera is active, isn't much different than the white light that shows the camera has power. The other thing is the field of view is much greater than my previous camera so now I have a larger area to keep organized when I'm on video calls. Not really a problem with the camera but something to be aware of. Overall it is a great camera.

(I used it on 27in and 32in Ultra Wide curved screens) - Cover for the lens when not using - Image quality is pretty good according to the people I’ve had video calls with Con - Image quality on my computer I cant tell the difference between my laptop cam and this one - No software to fine tune cam.

The j5create USB ultra HD 4k web cam is an all-around excellent camera, even to replace one that's already integrated into your system. Even in low light, the picture quality is excellent and more than on par for pretty much any application you'd need to use it for. The mic setup for the camera is also great and should be sufficient for most remote work applications. Other key points: - An LED indicator shows when it's enabled (which is when it's plugged in and receiving power) - It has a lens cover that can easily be flipped up or down to prevent unauthorized viewing - The clamp that's built in includes a standardized tripod female screw insert - The clamp is tightened enough to even have the camera sit on top of a laptop's monitor, yet flexible enough to move - The USB plug includes both a standard and mini-jack for different-sized USB ports This will be my go-to camera from now on.

This j5create webcam has a good price for a 4K webcam but also has some trouble with color accuracy. I tracked down the configuration software and played with hue and saturation but skin tones always seemed just a little off no matter what I did. I could drop the saturation but then the green screen I use for Zoom calls faded until it was almost unusable. I put 4K resolution in the "pro" column but the picture is still a little soft for my tastes. Setup was completely plug and play, though I did have to search for the settings application (there is one) to change color and field of view. The bottom line: If you want an affordable 4K webcam and have a USB-C port on your computer (the camera comes with a handy adapter, but USB-A won't handle 4K video) then this webcam is a good buy. If you're concerned about color accuracy or use a green screen it might be a good idea to look elsewhere.

The J5create 4K Ultra HD Webcam works as advertised. Just plug the USB into your computer and you and your connecting party will see your image. If that's good enough, buy one. But if you're more particular, look beyond the basics. This webcam produces a nice sharp image. It also produced a slight pinkish cast over it. You should not have to tweak the color for a standard view. Although J5create says it is a 4K webcam, hooking it up to my 4K monitor looked just like a normal 1080p image. Yes, this webcam works as promised, but don't expect an HD image right out of the box. A less expensive webcam would do the job as well.

This j5create USB 4K ultra HD Webcam was easy to set up on my Windows computer (plugged it in and after a few moments Windows had set up the webcam video and microphone audio). I was able to use it right away for video calls and meetings in a variety of software applications. The form factor is a little large, but the hinged clip allows it to sit easily on a monitor, the top edge of a laptop, or even a tripod with a built-in threaded screw mount. The USB-C connector with attached USB-A adapter makes it easy to find a port on most machines. The physical privacy cover is also nice, I can easily see that the lens is covered with a quick glance. All that said, the video quality seems underwhelming. For an ultra HD / 4K webcam, I was expecting the picture to be better. I understand why some users might appreciate the wide-angle lens to allow more people into the frame, but if you’re like me -- just one person joining a video call or meeting – that lens makes for a lot of empty space around the sides of my face. Apparently, the companion software supports cropping, but I couldn’t get it to work on my personal computer (it installed, but then kept freezing and just closing out), and my work computer doesn’t allow me to install software. It’s a bit weird that the white power light stays on all the time, and only changes ever so slightly to a very pale green when the camera is in use. Neither my wife nor I could really tell the difference between the two colors without looking closely. I feel like it would be much more intuitive if there was just a light on when the camera was in use, and off when it was not in use. Overall, the j5create USB 4K ultra HD Webcam sets up easily and does what it’s supposed to do, but has somewhat underwhelming video performance, and a few odd quirks.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
