I also wish it had some way to include power for my laptop so you do still have to have a power supply plugged in as well

A popular competitor was nicer quality, smaller, and with a finish that better matched my MacBook Pro, if that's important to you. Something to consider, many of these, this model included support 4K on an external monitor, but at only 30Hz. If you'r using a modern Mac with a Retina display, you'll notice the slower refresh rate and the external monitor won't be as smooth. There are adapters that pass 4K at 60Hz, but I'm not familiar with them, and had trouble finding this type of dock that supported that. I do mostly word processing, searching through literature, and basic spreadsheet stuff, so that wasn't a dealbreaker. If you're really into video, or games, that'll probably bug you.

We do have other devices available that may work better; if interested, we would value the chance to discuss them with you and see if we can turn this experience around. Multiple HDMI Displays

It works most of the time without any issues, but sometimes the 2nd monitor will flicker. I've resorted to plugging the 2nd monitor into a 2nd USB-C port on my laptop.

Posted .Acquiring multiple displays to work with can be complex without the right adapter. We are glad to hear the JCD381 is assisting you in obtaining more screens. Regarding the flicker, we recommend contacting support on the casing for technical assistance due to the different reasons that could be causing this. It can be as simple as a bad HDMI cable, to a defective HDMI port. In the case where the JCD381 is deemed to be defective, as long as you are within the 2 yr manufacturer's warranty period, we will be open to exchanging it for you. Thank you for the review.

Good product, Short Docking Wire

I would have rated it a 5 star if the lead wire (USB C) would be a little bit longer, that is a pain, even a foot longer could have made a big difference in set up. Otherwise, the unit works well

When you plug a keyboard or mouse inside the device, it freezes. I would advice to use only wireless keyboard/mouse with their dongle plugged into the device.

There are only 2 USB ports but enough for me. I personally don't want more than I need so this one is suitable. Other brands I used before failed to recognize the second monitor connected to hdmi port after few weeks. Not sure how long the current one last, if it fails like others I will update and of course some stars will fly away ...

Better handling than the competition

With my old dock from CODi at a similar price point I needed to send it back as an RMA to get a firmware update when my Intel drivers updated. But with the j5 create I was able to just install the drivers on my work stations and boom I am in business. Transitioning is basically seamless as well.
