Posted .Hello Calwes, the JCD383 is built with compactness and portability in mind with an aluminum housing, it can get warm because of that. Using the Ethernet port can also heat up because it's consuming/manipulating current but the body should never become too hot to handle. However it gets very hot, and thats without using the power pass-thru. Haven't tried that so no idea how much hotter it would get. IMO the high heat will lead to short life. I have other J5create products and do not have this issue. So it's either a design flaw, or I managed to get a lemon.

It does get hot if you connect several components in it. Also, it is a plug and play module, so you do not have to worry about a driver. So far this has worked well.

Posted .Generally, adapters emit some heat as a normal part of its operation, especially if the Ethernet and Power pass-through are in use. The body can become hot because of that. We appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

Now I can power, use a usb mic, and connect a wireless mouse. It gets a little warm in use but am told this is normal.

My Mac only has usb c connections and this adapter has it all! Originally I just needed it for the usb but It has come in so handy for unexpected uses such as the hdmi and more!

I only had a type C USB, so this was perfect; can accommodate, 3 more USB's, an HDMI plug in I am unsure what the slot shown next to the ethernet plug in is, an SD card and Micro SD slots.
