But everybody always needs that little something extra to make a hook up, right? The picture was misleading; it looks like you a female/male USB-C connector but, no, it's wired to the unit. I needed the female out for my set up. So it took an Amazon visit to get a female-female to complete my need. Other than that, having the video/data punch that I needed, it's working just as designed. A little pricey but it does the trick.

Think docking station for laptop. However, when I connect the power into this, instead of directly into the computer, it does get pretty warm. I have been able to just connect the power into the laptop to get around this. It would have been more convenient to connect the power too through this, but with the heat I didn't want to take the chance of causing any issues.

The new laptop only has 2 USB ports, I need more USB ports! I talked to a GEEK SQUAD technician and he recommended purchasing the j5create which I did. I now have enough USB ports to run my mouse, printer, LG DVD WRITER, and my KOOTEK cooling stand.

Great for those devices with a single port that is also used for charging. The only potentially negative that I've found is heat buildup after prolonged use of the HDMI link. My gf fell asleep watching Netflix and the next morning the adapter was noticeable hot to the touch. (I should note that the laptop it was connected to was not playing video the entire time. At some point in the night Netflix timed out to a blank screen. The screen wasn't "off" per-se, just blank. You could still see the glow of the led screen.)

So far all the ports seem to work , but the device does get warm with you. That’s a bit concerning and don’t know it that normal.
