My HDMI connection on my computer went bad, but I still needed my external screen. So, I plugged this in to my USB-C port, plugged my external screen cable into this and BAM! Works like a charm...truly plug and play.

I don't know what's going to happen in the long run.

I use it to stream CBS shows to my bedroom TV because it doesn't have Screen Mirroring like my living room TV. I have an antenna and use Hulu to play the previous days tv shows on NBC, ABC and Fox. CBS isn't on Hulu so I stream from phone CBS app. Smart TV's have CBS All Access app The phone app allows you to see shows around 3 - 4 hrs after the original showing. Only downside is that it doesn't charge device and can drain the batter of phone but that's not the adapter's fault.

Flexibility in Connectivity

This certainly gives you flexibility when you have a USB C device that you want to connect to a digital screen or monitor that has the hdmi cord. I connected my Surface Go at work a number of times and it always worked well. I would assume this works with my this MacBook Pro as well. However, I have not tried it as of yet.
