I used this for a project and had to cut the case off the HDMI end to make it fit. All of the electronic components are housed in the HDMI end. This works exactly as it says it does.

I already had one connected via HDMI, and had an available usb-c port on the computer. I used this on that usb-c port and it works just fine for work stuff.

USB Type C ports can have a lot of different functionality. They can transfer data, some can power your computer, and some can support a direct display connection. The feature that supports the direct video connection over USB-C is called display port alternate mode. I am happy to hear that the JCC153G is working out for your needs.
