This is a great adapter if you just need to add an additional HDMI monitor through a USB type C port that supports display port alternate mode. It lets me content from a usb-c type tablet or cellphone to a hard drive. It also allows you to connect your devices to your tv through a HDMI cable. Some content might not let you stream but it’s because of your device and not this adapter.

The new MacBook Air doesn't have the slots needed that I use. This works just fine. Would have been nice to have also had a slot for my Sans Disk...But I am happy with this.

I purchased this because, well, why not I have tried everything else. Simple plug and play installation! The passthrough charging works great and now I am effectively running dual 4K monitors in clamshell mode.
