Lots of ports but a bit quirky. I bought this to use with my MacBook. I use 3 monitors but I haven’t been able to get all 3 to work at the same time with this. On occasion, this thing decides it just won’t work, so I have to use the screen on my laptop. The updates aren’t all that often. The last update I did is what caused it to not work sometimes. The website is ok but it should be easier to get your update and go. Sometimes, it’s better to just pony up the extra money and buy an Apple product. The thing is this wasn’t cheap, so I’m a lot disappointed. If it worked like it’s supposed to 100% of the time it would be a good value.
The uncertainty of “is it going to work today?” when you’re booting up is unacceptable considering the technology available today.
Save up and buy Apple.

This docking station comes with 2 HDMI and 1 display port. Its a great space saver i.e. I have it sitting on the base of my external screen. It worked great right out of the box. Connected 2 external monitors, portable scanner. Has both USB and USB-C ports. I bought this on the personal recommendation of a Best Buy representative who also uses this over an HP product.

This dock is a great entry point to economy docking stations. It has the option of Display Port or HDMI for additional monitors, supports up to 3 external displays with DP, HDMI, and AVI, has USB-C data pass-through as well as PD, and a generally good expansion of I/O. The design is great for either being at the back of your system, OR at the front, depending on what kind of configuration you have. Using this as a dock as well as a prop to lift your system off a flat surface so it can breathe is also a benefit. There ARE drivers you need to install, though.

Works for its intended purpose. I did have a few issues during setup but I think I have resolved them mostly. I have a MacBook Pro 16in that runs macOS along with windows 10. When setting up my 2 external displays using 2 HDMI ports it hooked up perfectly and windows recognized both displays. I do continue having an issue where my larger monitor is fuzzy causing me to have to change my resolution from its current setting to something, and then change it back. That fixes the issue but it has to be done each time the computer restarts. It only happens when using this adapter if I use my older one this issue does not occur. On the macOS side things got a little tricky. I had to download and install their drivers about 5 times for it to finally recognize the second monitor, while it does work now it technically is “screen sharing” for that display. It does work as a independent “3rd” screen but under settings it shows as a shared screen which I find odd. For the price I would have liked it to be more plug and play with less hassle but overall still happy once it got it working properly. I’d give it a 5 star rating if the screen resolution issue wasn’t present on my windows partition.

I bought this so I could have 2 large monitors off my laptop to make life much easier when working from home. I was prepared to spend an hour or two figuring out how to set it up and getting it all working. When I opened the box ther was a sticker on the cord telling me to download a driver. I figured it was important since it was the first thing you see when you pull this out of the box. I immediately downloaded said driver. Within less than a few minutes everything was up and running. I was surprised actually, but in a nice way. The docking station works great! You don’t even know it’s there, you just use your system as intended. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Plenty of ports, rubberized top to make it easier to rest your laptop on top, and I love that the USBC cable can be set to either end for laptops like my MacBook Air that only have ports on one side

This might be considered a value option for what you are getting. 3 display docks don't get much cheaper, and this one works pretty well in my experience.
The plastic kind of feels cheap, but in the intended use you probably won't be touching it much anyway.
I am able to charge my Zephyrus G14 and run without using the battery in regular non gaming tasks. The DP/HDMI combo port is straight pass-through, so no need for drivers if you only use one screen and the USB. Only the other two video ports require the driver - and they act like external GPU's. If you are using this for gaming, make sure you use the primary output.

It works well but I needed to add the optional power supply ($50 for the J5 brand) to run 2 monitors. It just didn't have the output for my second monitor (I have a 10 ft HDMI cord, may not be a problem with a shorter cord). I like the memory card reader too, I use a 128 G Micro card to backup data and expand my hard drive space.
My only dislike is the cord to attach to laptop only extends about 12 inches and is permanently affixed. So I cannot replace with something longer or later down the road if this one gets damaged.
I have a complaint about the power supply as well, it has an additional USP power outlet, which I though would be great to charge my phone. Every time I plug in or unplug a cord or device there is a momentary power interruption (2 seconds). On my setup this is long enough to cause the monitors to drop offline and reset the video feed from my laptop. So I have to reconfigure all my screens (move all my windows off the laptop and back to their place on my monitors). Not sure if I got a goofy unit or if all will do this.

Hi Denver, thank you for writing us your experience on the Dock. We like to keep our Host cable connection to a minimum length to avoid signal degradation. The USB port on the power-brick will support up to 12W of charging and automatically balances output when charging 2 devices at once. ** If you require further assistance; please contact the j5create Technical Support team and we will be glad to further assist if necessary. Thank you.

This is a very useful docking station. My only gripe is that it wasn't super clear to me that I absolutely needed the power supply that you can buy it with. I ended up having to order the power supply separately. Apparently not every laptop will require a power supply for the dock, but mine kept throwing me errors when I tried to just run my laptop's charging cable through it. So, I have to plug my laptop up directly and also keep the docking station plugged up to it's own power supply for my computer to behave properly. It's not an issue, but it would have been helpful to know that was a possibility up front so that I would have bought them as a bundle.

This is the ONLY docking station that has worked with my MacBook Air. Nothing else has worked but this docking station. I tried upgrading to a higher-end one and it was not compatible (despite the website stating that it was). My ONLY complaint is the cord to connect is too short. The connecting cord for the docking station to the computer itself needs to be double the size that it is. I ended up having to buy an expansion cord for the length that I needed.

I was looking at this for about a year before I received my first Macbook for a new role. Figured it’d be a great time to finally pick one up, especially after upgrading office setup, and to future-proof it for a future Macbook purchase (I recently fell in love with the Mac experience, and I have no idea why I waited so long to convert).
I recently upgraded to a 38-in Ultrawide, have a LAN connection to my Switch, and now have several Macbook peripherals (thanks to my company). If I didn’t have this docking station, I’m not sure what I’d be using.
Just download the correct display driver for the docking station one time, and boom, it’s as easy as connecting a USB-C cable! When I need to quickly switch between my workstation and gaming station, I can easily disconnect, push the cable back into the docking station, and then push it back against my monitor on the desk to make room for my gaming peripherals.

I use this with my mid-tier HP Victus laptop. I think my laptop’s USB-C supports about 5gps. I’m able to run a number of peripherals like mouse and keyboard, but also a monitor. At 5gbps, all these things run buttery smooth.
I did try running *two* monitors through the dock, while playing high end games, AND running the game’s data from an external SSD through the dock, but it was too much to ask and it lagged a lot.
The point is this, love this thing. It can handle a lot but if you do what I just described, your computer will need a faster data speed than 5gbps

The j5create USB-C Triple Display Docking Station will work with Macs and PC. I have pushed two large monitors and could add a third one if needed. It does takes a little configuring with the software and instructions. Not exactly plug and play away all day. With patience comes reward. You can use the laptop power cables USB-C to run power through it. I should have purchased the bundle that included the Docking station and power brick. I has every connection needed to get monitors, keyboards, mouse, headphones, cell phone charge base, connected. It can handle a bunch of equipment. Pick up a surge protector for safety. I use one. No complaints with this one.

I was using this with my HP Spectre for about 9-months. I did not load any drivers just plug-n-play. The HDMI would only do 60hz out of one and 30hz out of the other. The USB-C worked as expected and the card reader was fine. The USB-A worked as well.
Now…I migrated over to the new Macbook Pro M-1 (w/ latest macOS Monterey) and things did not go as well. I initially ran it with only one monitor at 30hz because the other HDMI stopped working. I called J5 and they said that I needed to download the drivers…and that didn’t help!!
So…for PC this dock is just okay but I think you could find a better setup for multiple monitors.
For Mac products….I would probably avoid this one!!

The HDMI's/DP support up to 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz or 1080p @ 60 Hz. The HDMI/VGA and Mic ports require an installation of a driver for proper functionality. Depending on the OS you have, different instructions apply. With Mac's that run M1 chips, there are 3 different M1's. M1 Pro and M1 Max support multi-displays. M1 will only support (1) additional display, that is the limitation on it's hardware. If you have any questions regarding the JCD543, please contact our Support Team and they will be glad to assist you. Their information can be found on our website under the "Support" tab. Thank you.
