Great OTC hearing aids that come with audiologist

These out of the box are very easy to setup in my opinion. They are very tiny which was a concern of mine as usually the behind the ear devices are large and visual. The case they come in is very nice and isn't to small where it could get lost plus it charges them. The directions are straight forward and the app works very well. I like the rechargeable battery as I have had some that required those small hearing aid batteries and they were a pain to replace. What is nice you have an online audiologist so you don't need to run to a local person you can do it in your home. I enjoy the different listening options depending on where you are. I really like that I can listen to streaming music and podcasts as well as take phone calls. I actually switch them to my ipad when I was watching some movies. These come with different tips which I prefer the domes but I did try the tulip but didn't think those worked as well in my opinion. I can hear very well with these and the sound is very crisp. I could go more deeper into how well these are but I tried touching on everything I really enjoy about them. The last thing is the units last around 30 hours and it takes around 3 hours to get that much of a charge. I am very impressed with Jabra and plan to purchase more products of theirs.

The first thing I though about these hearing aids were, they must sound like butter at this price point. They seemed to work fine, but are extremely delicate and easy to damage and/or lose, so ensure someone who has the mental fortitude to keep track of them because my dad lost one almost every time he first put them on.
It was a bit of a trial getting the Jabras to a comfortable place for my dad where they didn't fall out randomly, but that may be a "us" issue.
Something really helpful is the app that it comes with where you can easily make adjustments. Havent had any app glitching issues yet, so hopefully that remains. Another thing we also discovered was that these hearing aids double as bluetooth earbuds for phone calls, which is great if you are managing your own hearing aids ----- however I am doing this for my disabled father, so I need to use his phone but all his calls come through my phone.
On that same note, connectivity is swift and easy. As with many of my others audio products (earbuds, speakers, etc), sometimes it takes an extra minute or two to connect, and on rare occasions, I may need to reboot the phone. Not sure if there is a way to really fully remedy that.
The manual says a full charge lasts about 8 hours ---- I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise, especially as we remove and charge them every night. I have heard about draining batteries with the charge, but I have yet to encounter this, so we'll see.
Overall, these are excellent earbuds, especially for OTC. Not sure about the price point still, especially as it is comparable to its cheaper counterparts, but as fas a functionality and effectiveness, these are solid.

It sounds like your dad could benefit from meeting with one of our providers, and discussing the fit of his hearing aids. There's so much to say about the Jabra Enhance Select 500 that I don't even know where to start. I guess let's go in order of operations. The unboxing is simple and straight forward. You scan the QR code provided to activate the 3 year warranty. You download the app for the best experience.
Make sure to charge the case/your device before syncing. You take a hearing test through the app which should be done with headphones/earphones as an initial assessment, then you can schedule a 30 minute Zoom meeting with a hearing professional to discuss your hearing.
I spoke with Jabra's remote service support to ask some questions and to help with some set up. Sarah S who helped me out was super great and resourceful. If she didn't know the answer to a question, she researched and found out. For example, I asked why it was 3pm but their online chat said I'm reaching out off hours. Turns out their online chat is 5AM-2PM PT on weekends, and 8AM-2PM PT on weekdays due to lack of resources. But on their website, there is no separation of the hours. It only shows one set of hours which can be confusing.
I would label the phone # hours separate from online chat hours, as I would think most people would gravitate towards online chat before calling (I know I did). But I pleasantly had a nice call, and spoke to someone that seemed like (in my opinion) was internal and not hired abroad to where it doens't feel as personal. This felt like a true product support specialist helping me out and answering my questions thoroughly, clearly, and concisely.
The app is pretty intuitive and the instructions and alerts are as easy as setting up a home security or any smart devices. They really have a professional team that makes this more than just a product, it's a packaged deal of quality and reliability. Sarah reemphasized the importance of accurate information because this is a medical device which is something you have to remember, so for accurate data and reporting, the account information has to be accurate.
For an off the shelf medical device that you can just buy outright through self-diagnosis, this is truly something else. I am impressed.

As a person who's hearing is severeely impaired, I looked forward to receiving Jabra Enhance Select 500 OTC Hearing Aids for testing and writing of this review. I ordered the hearing aids in Sparkling Silver color and was quite pleased with that choice as they matched my graying hair. They look great behind my ears and the in-ear cables are very hard to see.
With their rechargeable premium charger that connects to a power source using a USB-C cable and plug, the Jabra hearing aids in under 3.5 hours for a first time charge. Additional 30 minute charges provide up to 8 hours of battery life and a 3 hour charge gives you up to 30 hours of use!
Jabra Enhance Select 500 hearing aids come with :
1) Fitting Tools including an ear measuring tool, a wide range of earbud dome selection to fit most any ear, and sport locks to use when working out or performing strenuous activities.
2) Cleaning Tools including a cleaning cloth , brush and wax guard kit.
3) Power Tools including a premium rechargeable case, wall charger and USB-C cable.
Overall this is a well thought out, designed and quality built hearing aid package.
Jabra GN provides users with a hearing test to help determine your hearing profile and to aid in setting up their premium hearing devices. Licensed audiologists are available to assist in setting up and using the Jabra hearing aids. The hearing test was available to me online and was very easy to perform. Set up using Jabra Enhance software application (free download for your IOS or Andorid smartphone devices) was simple and had me up and running in a very short period of time once I'd charged the hearing aids for the first time.
With a one year basic warranty (three year coverage is available at an optional expense) coverage includes repairs, loss and damage from Jabra.
After two full weeks of using these new Jabra Enhance Select 500 OTC Hearing Aids, I have found them to be quite comfortable to wear using the standard domes the units were shipped with and quite acceptable in all situations. I can hear well in restaurants, outdoors, working out in gym and happy to stream music through them from my music library and other sources such as Amazon, Apple and Spotify. While the music quality isn't outstanding just having streaming available allows me to use these great new Jabra hearing aids everyday everywhere!

We’re so happy that you hear better with your Jabra Enhance Select 500 hearing aids, and we appreciate your review! We just want to clarify a couple of things. As with all OTC devices, Jabra Enhance Select hearing aids are intended only for adults 18+ with mild to moderate hearing loss and may not be suitable for everyone, if you believe or know you have more severe hearing loss, we advise you to see an in-person professional who may be able to provide you a better-suited solution (if so, you can return your Select 500s within the Best Buy return period). And you actually receive 3 years of warranty currently included at no additional charge, with purchases of the Select 500 through Best Buy. I’ll start off by saying that I have had the Lexie and the previous Jabra open-top rechargeable hearing aids and both have made my life better overall. I found that fiddling with batteries was a pain. Rechargeable, to me, is the only way to go.
When I first opened the box on these, I noticed that they were smaller than both of my other pairs. The other thing that I noticed right away it was that the charging case had a flip cover similar to the AirPods (obviously a lot bigger) to prevent dust from falling on them while charging.
These use the Jabra Select app. I had trouble connecting originally because the app couldn’t find my buds but then I looked at the manual and realized I was supposed to start with the “Accesibility -> Hearing Devices” menu within settings. The buds had already registered but because I didn’t do it properly, the app wasn’t finding them. I did wear them that day without being able to connect them and they worked. That’s surprised me but I thought that it was just acting as a relay for audio to my ears without any settings.
Once I Instructed my iPhone to forget the pairing and re-connected them properly, they displayed into the app right away. Three minutes later, I was seeing my buds on the app.
The app has some settings for bass/treble and presets for restaurant, music, etc, but, the true secret with iPhone is triple-click on the lock button. That brings up the hearing aid menu where you can mess around with most of the settings that you’ll need. As well a background noise menu with dark noise, rain, ocean, and the like. They even allow you to set your volume per ear.
Outside of the original snafu (which was my fault for not reading the manual), these are now my go-to. The charging case is awesome because it has a cover and a place for the tips to sit comfortably. They sound great. They are rechargeable. And they are very easy to put in and use with the app.
Highly recommended.

This is my second set of Jabra OTC hearing aids. While I have grown accustomed to the feeling of my hearing aids, this set is a vast improvement. Every set comes with remote customer assistance to fine tune the hearing aids. After this customization the sound and tone quality will be set to your precise specifications.
Using the hearing aids out of the box requires the Jabra application. After initial setup you schedule an appointment to get remote customer assistance. While this step may take some time it is worth the investment of time to fully customize each hearing aid. When the hearing aids are connected to your phone via Bluetooth you can also make and receive calls via the hearing aid through touch.
Each hearing aid is hidden behind your ear and connected to a speaker in the ear canal by a small wire. The hearing aids are unnoticeable when installed. The in-ear device seals off the canal comfortably. After wearing the hearing aids all day there was still no discomfort. This kit comes complete with all the tools you will need to clean and maintain them.
A benefit of the Bluetooth technology is you can connect to other devices for streaming audio.

Over the Counter Professional Hearing Aids

Introduction:
I have been wearing hearing aids for the last 7 years. Getting them has completely changed my life in many ways. First, I no longer feel lonely when in a large group or a loud venue. I had gotten to the point that I stopped asking “What?” because it irritated people, so I missed out on most conversations which is very isolating. And most of all, my audiologist was able to reproduce my hearing to my wife, who went from it feeling annoyed with having to constantly repeating herself to her having complete compassion for my hearing loss.
Getting hearing aids took testing, fitting, adjusting the programming, and going back weekly for a few weeks to get them tweaked. Once done, I had quarterly visits for them to clean the hearing aids and keep them in good shape. I also get a hearing test annually for adjustments.
My hearing aids take small batteries, because when I bought them, the rechargeable hearing aids only had about an eight-hour charge. My workday was close to 12 hours, and I had them in for about 15 hours a day. So, I had to choose hearing aids that use external batteries.
Having been through this, I wondered just how good these hearing aids can be. After all, testing is done through the app, and appointments are telehealth appointments. Could they help me and make proper adjustments remotely? And could the charge last a full 15 – 16 hours. I had my doubts.
First impression:
My first impression was of the packaging. It is well packaged, and easy to get into. At first it doesn’t look like there is a lot in it, but when you start taking everything out, it’s amazing how much is packaged in the box. The hearing aids look very similar to my other hearing aids. The charging case is well built and solid. The hinges are large and feel very sturdy, and the lid is held down with magnets. The hearing aids sit in specific charging ports to make sure the charging polarity is correct. There are 5 green LEDs inside that so the battery charge level of the hearing aids, and 3 red LEDs on the back indicating the charge level of the case charging battery. The battery case is good for at least 3 full charges before needing to be recharged using a USB C cable.

Setup:
The hearing aids are usable right out of the box, but they probably won’t help very well, because if you need hearing aids, you need to have it set up for your specific loss. The setup includes taking a hearing test using the app, and then speaking with your audiologist. If need be, you can have adjustments pushed to your hearing aids as often as you need to get them right. This process was easy, and I was shocked that the process got my hearing aids dialed right in. I did not think that could or would happen.
The App:
The Enhance Pro app is for controlling your headphones. It allows you to adjust the volume, select between the Noise Filter, Speech Clarity filter, or the Custom Filter. It also allows you to select between the All-Around program, Restaurant program, the Music program, and the Outdoor program. These programs have different baseline settings that can be used in specific areas or scenarios. It also allows you to control and manage Tinnitus with the Tinnitus Manager if it is included in your program.
Working with my audiologist:
Working with the audiologist was very nice. She explained everything to me regarding the hearing aids, the app, the program, and all the including cleaning and maintenance tools. She was able to measure my ears just by me putting the included measurement tool and letting her see it in the telehealth video meeting. And I felt like the wires might be a little short, and she sent me longer hearing aid wires for me to try. It was a really nice thing. If I have any problems or want to talk to her about something hearing aid related, I simply make an appointment just like I do with any doctor, and she can help me.
Performance:
OK, this is where the rubber hits the road. Just how well do these hearing aids work? After a few weeks of testing, tweaking, and adjusting these hearing aids, they work as well as my other hearing aids that cost 3x as much. I am very surprised that using an app and having remote video conversations is netting the same results as numerous in-person appointments and $6,900 hearing aids.
The programs work the same as the programs in the app for my original hearing aids. They fit the same and wear the same as well. The biggest difference between the two is the price and it takes longer to get these hearing aids set up for the initial configuration. This is due to the procedure of setting these up remotely instead of an in-person visit. But the result is the same.
There is only 1 thing my original hearing aids do that these don’t, and that is direction steering. With the app, I can tell my hearing aids to focus on a certain direction and how wide the focus is. This really helps in hard-to-hear areas like a loud restaurant. If I am sitting across from my wife, I can direct the hearing aids towards her and narrow the direction to about 20°, and it significantly reduces noise from the remaining 340° and allows me to hear her better. This is a very important feature for me, and I wished these hearing aids had them. But it won’t affect the rating because I cannot dock them for a feature that was not included in the very beginning. If they add this feature in the future, I will probably buy the new Jabra Enhance to get that feature.
Conclusion:
I am really impressed with these Jabra Enhance Select 500 hearing aids. The technology has come a long way in 7 years, from extended use times from 8 hours to 24-30 hours, an app-based hearing test, and an audiologist who can configure the hearing aids and push them out through the app. The hearing aids include a nice charging/carrying case and different styles of ear domes. And if you need longer leads, they include a tool to remove and replace them without having to send them in.
I wished these hearing aids had the sound steering feature, but it’s not a deal breaker even though it is very important to me. These hearing aids do have rechargeable batteries that last much longer than my original ones which is a very nice feature. I don’t have to keep a stock of batteries and make sure I always have them with me in case they die during the day.
If you have hearing loss, have trouble hearing certain things, or find it difficult to understand people when they talk or can’t understand what’s being said in movies, the Jabra Enhance Select 500 hearing aids might be the trick. The price is very affordable considering what they do and compared to other hearing aids. If you do have hearing loss, getting good hearing aids will change your life. You already know you are missing out, but you don’t realize how much. Do yourself a favor and reach out to Jabra and get your hearing back. I highly recommend the Jabra Enhance Select 500 hearing aids.

This is my first time using hearing aids but in my opinion they are great! My husband is happy because I can hear him more clearly with them in and I love listening to the birds chirping when I go outside for walks. The hearing professional that I met with was fantastic and answered all my questions and also gave some great advice on using the hearing aids and how to wear them. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for hearing aids. The sound quality is great and they’re easy and comfortable to wear.

From day one, the clarity of sound was awesome. Before, i could hear voices, but could not understand the words. Now i hear clearly and hearing sounds I haven’t heard in years. Im a retired firefighter, and hearing a siren for 33 years damaged my hearing. We didn’t have headphones back in my day. Hearing birds chirping and other sounds I haven’t heard for years. The Enhance select 500 is the best move I’ve made in a long time. Made my wife happy to, she doesn’t have to repeat herself 2-3 times , 100 times a day.
