The Jackery Explorer 300 is a nice light weight charging station. Mine does not have a solar panel for charging but if you were camping, this is something that you would need to add. It has AC output,USB A output, two USB -C Outputs, Car port, AC input , DC input. When mine arrived, I saw the instructions for downloading the app. I wasn’t sure why you needed an app since during a power outage, my cell phone won’t work & I don’t have WiFi. Or if you were camping in a remote place , you wouldn’t have WiFi. But I guess the app is good for when you are charging at home & are too lazy to get off the couch to check the charging activity. I finally found the manual & that made more sense This device would be nice for when you need to power electric tools in the yard or if you were in a remote location. It would be good during power outages to charge your cell phone. It is portable enough that you could carry it in your car. Mine did not come with the adapter to charge in your car but that is an add on that would be handy. Once charged, I am not sure how long it holds the charge since power outages can be unpredictable.

The Jackery Explorer 300 is a portable battery pack that can provide power to charge your technology and power small electrical items when you have experienced power outages or emergencies. We are outdoor people, My family spends time camping, boating and traveling as much as possible, but my teenage kids think they have to have their music and phones at their fingertips at all times. This Jackery Explorer has come to the rescue more than once. When fully charged, this unit can provide about 288 wh of extra power to charge those devices you can't or think you can't live without. We keep this unit charged using the included power cord so it is available is there everis a power interruption or some other issue that backup power is needed. There are two USB C outputs and one USB A output on this particular unit. There is also an AC output that can provide up to 300 watts of power. This isn't enough to operate power tools, but it is certainly enough to power radios and to charge phones and laptops with their charging blocks. There are a number of safety features like low temperature and high temperature shutoff and the LCD display gives you all the information you need to track what is going on with the Jackery and how much power is being used and how much is left. The Jackery has the ability to stay charged using the available solar panels. You can buy these separately, but if you spend time away from civilization, you should go ahead and buy the kit that includes the solar panels. I don't have the panels, so I can't say how efficient they are, but if I had it to do over, I would have bought the unit with them just to have that as an option. I find this to be a great unit and a great buy! It is something that we use often when we are away from home and something everyone needs to think about now that we use our phones to stay up to date on what is going on in the world.

Heavy + Should Come With Solar Panels

One of the first things you notice about the Jackery Explorer 300+ solar generator is the weight. While it comes with a hefty handle, and the body in and of itself seems rugged enough to toss in the back of your truck for a long weekend of camping, the weight is equivalent to a fully stocked cooler. Inside the box are the solar generator itself, a USB-C connector cable to connect to the solar panels - which are not included - and an orange cord used to connect the generator to AC power as well. I want to re-state that incase you missed it: the solar panels are not included on this version. The only way to charge it unless you purchase the solar panels is to plug it directly into AC power. The stand-alone 100W solar panels cost as much as the generator itself, so plan accordingly. You could probably use any regular extension cord to connect the generator to power to charge it, You’d probably want to stick to the device cords themselves. There is no case or bag, or way to attach the cables beyond the ports themselves, so that may be the next item on your wish list to procure if this solar generator is on your radar. You may also want to make it a padded bag as these are lithium ion batteries, and unnecessary jostling is probably to be avoided. The box itself has inch-thick padding so I suppose you could use the cardboard box as a case for as long as it survives. Along the same lines, the manual points out that you will not want to have the solar generator exposed to direct sunlight, as the temperature fluctuations would be detrimental to the battery's health. The three-year warranty on device is a nice plus, and like most utilitarian things, it comes with a few extra ports which you will probably never use. The flashlight being a good example, with the device’s weight you will be unlikely to want to use it as a flashlight. The inclusion of a single USB-A port, and two USB-C ports, one capable of input or output charging, a car adapter, and an AC 120V output are all good considerations. The display tells you how long until full charge is reached on the generator, percentage of the battery, and how much output you’re using and how long it will last. So far on a single AC charge (which took 1.3 hours from 30%) the battery was able to charge my iPhone, my MacBook Pro, and a few other devices and had significant power left over. The app itself was pretty interesting and also tracks power usage and charging status. All in all: this thing is heavy and unwieldy, unsuitable for hiking long distances with it... and most of the imagery rightfully shows a support vehicle nearby. Unless you need an additional unit, skip this particular product and go for the one that includes the solar panels.

Hello friends this is my review and opinion of the Jackery explorer 300 plus. I like this unit for a battery back-up but i do have a small problem with this exact model. This model does NOT come with a solar panel to charge it up. One can be purchased extra from BB that is 100 watts for an extra 250 dollars. However on the box Jackery still calls this a solar generator. Im not a lawyer but in my opinion this is kinda false advertising. Jackery makes other models that have a bundle with the solar panel in the box with it. That would be a solar generator in my opinion, because it comes together. But im sure noone cares what my opinion is anyway. As far as the rest of the Jackery review I have to say everything else is great! This battery back-up does exactly what it says it can do and a little more. I tested this little guy first by recharging my cell phone, which is what a lot of folks would probably do with it. And i can say that it took only 4 percent of battery to recharge my phone. Which would lend me to believe that this unit can recharge my phone about 25 times before it is empty. Jackery says that this unit can push out a total of 2.5 amps in A/C output. I will tell you that i tried this up to 5.5 amps with a saw. Surprisingly it pushed the saw fine. So this unit can output a little more power than rated. Thats good, normally companies overestimate there products not underestimate them. I believe that the Jackery battery back-up will be a nice addition to my emergency preparedness kit. I just cant in good conscience give it five stars if it doesnt come with a solar panel, but says its a solar generator. I do like it and would recommend it though, and better yet maybe get the package deal instead .

This little device is absolutely great for backing up a home office, or small electronics (like phones) and computers if you're traveling. It's durable, it's not too heavy, and has a bright readout to let you see the device status. There's even a built in light for navigating a dark room during a power outage or providing some light during a camping trip in the evening. The battery also charges extremely quickly on the included AC adapter. The one downside is that there simply aren't too many output options on this device. You get one USB-A,.one USB-A, and one standard wall plug. These all provide excellent and fast power backup (even though the USB A caps out at 15W), but these options are the limit of what you can charge or power simultaneously. If you're with a group,. you're taking turns. If you're powering the family cellphones or working at home during an outage (I was), this device will cover your needs. The option n to recharge via solar is a nice bonus, but the base model does not come with an included panel. Multiple online sellers offer 40W panels, though, and you can check compatibility with this device pretty easily. The amount of power provided, especially for such a diminutive unit, is pretty impressive. I couldn't get it to drop below 50%, powering a laptop and cellphone being used as a WiFi hotspot for an entire workday. The power capacity will not leave you disappointed, and the excellent and bright readout panel will always let you see how much charge you have left. Strongly recommended for anyone who endures regular weather-related power outages and solo or small group campers. The only thing holding back a perfect five-star rating is the absence of more outputs and connection options on the battery. This isn't a deal breaker, since the device works brilliantly, but users looking for something that can be shared more easily might want to look at an option with more outputs. Also, users should be realistic in their power supply expectations. If you want something that's going to run appliances for half a day, you're going to need something with more capacity. But this is the perfect replacement for the collection of portable batteries we've all built up over time, and this is a must-buy for anyone who works at home and needs to stay connected.

When you look to get the newer model, you expect it to be better than the previous in some way. Sadly this model doesn't deliver. The lesser version Jackery Explorer 300 seems better and potentially more useful than this Explorer 300 Plus. The only thing I like about this is it's foldable carry handle. This unit comes packaged with a heavy duty power cable and USB-C to 8mm adapter (since they did away with the 8mm input from the old one). Unlike the old version, this has 5 less watt hours of charge, 1 less AC outlet, 1 less USB-A outlet, no cover for the 12v car adapter, and weighs 1.25Lbs more. What this model has is a second, more powerful, 100w USB-C port that doubles as a solar charge input. So, if you're using the solar panel to charge the unit, you're stuck with the second, 15w USB-C port. You also get an extra 100w of peak power and a faster charge up time. I'm wondering how you can take this camping or use it outdoors for any extended period if it has no water protection. Save your money and get the previous model, unless you really think you need that extra USB-C port at the expense of everything else.

    Great small emergency generator

I already have a Jackery portable generator, in fact it is a very similar model to the Explorer 300 Plus Solar Powered Generator I am reviewing here. I bought it out of necessity more than need. I use a CPAC and we had a power outage the day before a major event for my work. I needed to be on my A game and when the power went out I was done. No back up way to run my CPAP, which left me with no way to get a good night of sleep. I powered through the next day the best I could, but when I got home I ordered a Jackery Generator as I was never going to be put in that situation again. When I saw this model though, I was excited about the solar power option. I see that some people complain about it not coming with the solar panels? Well it saws that on the box so I am not sure what the complaining is about. There is no false advertising, but I do agree that it would be nice if it came with them. I am sure you can buy a package deal somewhere, but this was not that somewhere. I still like it because it has the option to use solar power, and therefore this is an awesome option to take out into the field for camping or any other outdoor activities. So again, the big pull for this one is the option to be able to recharge it on the go via solar. But there are other things you need to consider when you take a look at this product. First off, is it what you need for the task you have at hand? This is one of their smaller generators, so know that there are other options that can supply a lot more power for longer time periods. For me, this is just what I needed. At just over 8 pounds it is very portable and easy to carry. If you plug it into your outlet, it takes about 2 hours to fully charge. I say that is fairly accurate, as I tried it from a dead battery and it was just under that mark. Solar powered it will take about 9-10 hours to charge, which I have not verified as of yet. The maximum battery life is rated at 46.4 hours, which I also have not verified yet. In this small of a package though, it think it is a pretty good output and more than enough for what I need. And it is an even better return for the 2 hours of charging you take to get it to 100%. The front of the generator has a really bright flashlight which is a nice surprise. There is one standard plug in as well as one USB-A and two USB-C plug ins. It has a digital display to see where you are as far as the battery, and there is also a car (old cigarette lighter) plug in port on the front as well. Plenty of options for you to choose from, just not multiple of the same options. However, if you upgrade to a larger model you will see a lot of duplicate ports. Since most things are going to USB-C anyway, two ports of that is sufficient. I would have liked to have an additional standard plug in though. I could not be happier with this generator. No, it will not power your house, but it will power or charge a variety of devices for you at once. I highly recommend this to anyone that has a need for it, and it is a great emergency back up item. I love it and my older version of it. Cant say enough good things about it.

    Solar Panel not included

This is a decent power station for low watt power needs in emergencies or for camping/tailgating. Not too heavy at about 8lbs. Integrated USB ports makes charging most devices and modern laptops a breeze. From a home power outlet and using the supplied 120v heavy cord, it'll recharge from 25% to 100% in just over an hour and 15 minutes. You can also recharge it from a vehicle outlet or solar panel. Solar panel not included. Will run a CPAP/BiPAP for 8 hours with no problems, provided you disable any heating elements like heated tubing or humidifier. Depending on your machine's power draw and how long you sleep, You might get 2 nights out of it. My main gripe is that this is advertised and packaged as a "Solar Generator", however solar panels are sold separately. It's also pricey compared to others with a higher wattage rating, so you're paying for the name. At max load, it's rated as only lasting about an hour. Most people wont use it at max load. Recommend testing it prior to any emergency uses so that you know how long it will last and how many devices you can connect.

I really appreciate the Jackery Explorer 300 Plus Portable Power Solar Generator. It is a handy device. I actually used this to keep our modem and router powered recently when our power went out for a few hours. We also use this for camping. We have a powered cooler, and this keeps it nice and cool. Unfortunately, I don't have the solar charger adapter for it, but I may add that soon. Of course, it can also charge phones and other portable devices. It has USB charging ports and a standard power outlet. It also has a 12v port. There is an app, but the app is mostly useful for monitoring your battery levels. I have not discerned whether using the app results in more of a power drain (since it connects to WiFi an via Bluetooth). I would appreciate the ability to turn the Jackery off via the app, but I haven't found an option for that other than changing the auto shut-down timer (fastest auto shutoff is 2 hours). I appreciate that the power cable is heavy duty and appears to be weatherized for outdoor use. The Jackery takes about 2 hours to fully charge. Overall, I've been impressed. This is a handy device.

As a self-proclaimed survivalist, let me tell you that quality solar energy converters/generators are hard to come across. Enter the Jackery Explorer! This generator comes with a small solar panel that is moveable from the battery itself and has the ability to directly convert the solar energy to an AC wall charger, USB-A and C ports, and a car lighter port. At only 11 pounds, this is one of the lightest solar generators I have ever encountered, and we all know weight adds up when you’re carrying everything on your back for your trip. Along with this is the noise it creates while it is on, but it is actually pretty quiet, as far as generators go. The most interesting thing about this generator is the ability to connect to wifi or bluetooth through a phone app to control the battery! I have never seen anything like this before, and it was a pleasant surprise. Along with being waterproof, dust-resistant, and quick-charging (around 2 hours with an AC charging connection), this is a solid investment for an explorer who always wants to be prepared on their journey, wherever they go.

Out of the box this was a bit sleeker than I imagined. Normally if it’s not a high priced tech item, the packaging leaves a bit to be desired. This was modern packaging for a modern era without a bunch of excess twists and plastic, which I appreciated. Packaging includes the battery, AC cable, a USB-C adaptor, manual, and instructions on downloading their app. Immediately rolling my eyes here at a tie-in app for a battery of all things but after playing with the app a bit, none of it seems to be necessary and you can use the battery without it. Your call on if you want to use it. Regarding the packaging though, it seems like Jackery just mass produced the same packaging for all their products despite what’s actually in the box. The external packaging on the box makes at least 1-2 references about this having solar powered capabilities, though of course there’s no solar panels included, nor does the battery have the ability to charge itself without those. Even on the internal packaging, the USB-C packaging listed that there was solar paneling inside, when in fact, there’s not. Very weird. Jackery does sell a separate battery with solar panels FWIW, and you can buy even larger solar panels separately from them, but to indicate on multiple points that this has solar capabilities when it doesn’t is such a weird decision. The battery itself has a nice, modern look with grey/black/orange tones and an LED display. The matte style coating on the paint tends to hold smudges/fingerprints quite well but not the end of the world. Battery weighs about 8-10lbs, the size of a medium bowling ball and has a carrying handle that folds up and down. The battery itself seems to operate great but my biggest question is… who is this for? Primarily in their advertisements and thinking about consumers, the portable battery would theoretically be ideal for outdoor use/camping, etc but it doesn’t indicate anywhere that it’s waterproof, nor does it appear to be as there’s external vents that clearly allow water easily to enter the battery. Going to the dessert? Sure. Going to a festival? Sure. Emergency backup for your car or outages in the home? Sure. Anywhere with snow or rain? Probably pass unless you’re able to keep this fully dry. The battery claims to last through 1500 cycles which is tons and can be charged in a normal wall plug, car adaptor (not included) or solar paneling (not included). Outputs include AC, USB-C, USB, and car output. There’s a light on the display that you can toggle on if using in the dark which is helpful. The LED displays include a battery power indicating if the device is being charged, charging something, a low battery mode that comes on when there’s 20% left on the battery, and an energy saving mode to limit consumption. Ultimately, it will limit all devices to no longer than 12 hours of constant charging as to not drain the battery. There’s also different temperature warnings if the battery gets too hot or cold, it’ll shut itself down and restore when back to normal. Even better is the entire LED display be setup to be always on or always off if you REALLY wanted to save power (though I doubt the LED display uses much anyway). All said, the battery seems to last a long time. I had it charge my phone and it barely made a dent in the power reserve, and I tested it on my air fryer to see if it could power that up, and it could. All in all, I was impressed by its power. In closing, this is a very fine product that has some room for improvement between the smudging, packaging, weather proofing, but certainly delivers when it comes to its key responsibility of charging/powering devices.

    Power without solar?

So I was really excited to get my Jackery - Explorer 300+. I was planning on going camping over the weekend with my family and some friends. I was even more excited to show off my cool new toy and to bring something tech related that was of use for all of us. It worked well for us on the trip. We were able to charge up our phones and drive some power to devices using the electrical outlet port. I was so bummed out for one reason. This doesn't come with a solar panel. Let me explain. This may have been a "me being naive thing", but I really thought that it would come with the solar panel. Solar Generator is in the name! All the product pictures online show it in use with the panels. I didn't check the webpage for what contents are in the box. Again, might have been a me problem. I was just dumfounded. No where on the box does it say what is included in the packaging. I had to dig deep into the instruction manual to find out that the solar panel was not included. This is not the only reason why I am giving this product a 3/5. The companion app for this is lacking. I found that I had some issues in connecting to the Jackery often with my phone's app. Once I was able to get in and play around in the app everything was just so sluggish. My commands were sent with a 5-10 second delay. It was better to just press the physical buttons on the Jackery. Especially if you have to be within bluetooth range of the device to connect to the app. Would I recommend it to friends? Maybe? If I knew someone may be going out for extended periods and may need to recharge some more demanding electronics or needed a portable power outlet. For most of my friends group this is just a luxury toy that isn't practical.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE jackery, and own a few of their products. They are harnessing the latest developments in GaN and other technologies, as this particular power "generator" is smaller than the one I own that is a 240wh one, and this one is clocking in at 300wh. The flat top and the folding handle are also nice improvements. I've seen some designs that forgo the 12v charger, for more USB ports, or the input port, and this particular device still has the 12v "cigarette lighter" port. I would have preferred more USB to be honest. I also appreciate that it can now charge, and charge MUCH faster via a direct connection to 110v mains. The included power plug is the same standard connector as all computer power supplies, so if you misplace it, it's easy to replace. I do NOT care for this product being branded as a solar generator, when there is NOTHING solar about it, unless I purchase the optional solar panel. This branding/naming is a little weird. Even though I acknowledge that there isn't a good name for these in-between rechargeable battery/solid state generator products. Lastly, I appreciate that a 4mm to usb C adapter was included, which closed the loop for me on "where the heck do I even plug my solar panel into" as I happen to own one. This seems a bit unwieldy, and again I would have preferred a built in dedicated input port, rather than some multi tasking usb c ports. Definitely smaller and an upgrade from what's available, with some quirks.
