This movie looks astonishingly good. I had no idea a movie released in 1975 could look this good. Must own if you love this film like I do.

This is my all time FAVORITE MOVIE. I saw this when I was abt 9.. and it’s been my favorite movie ever since. It’s made me love sharks. I’m 17 now and I’ve seen a lot of movies... and nothing has ever topped this. This movie is a true masterpiece. The score is amazing. The actors are amazing, there is so much suspense- even when there is practically nothing happening, you still get chills. Robert, Roy, and Richard did SUCH an amazing job in this movie. I have chills when they see the shark for the first time, the way they acted makes it truly an amazing scene. I will NEVER get tired of this movie. And if you haven’t seen it, LITERALLY GO WATCH IT NOWWW! lol. I’m in love with the score as well, John Williams is a genius and he is truly a talented man. This is the best score for any movie ever in my opinion. I don’t think anything will top it. This is just such a powerful movie, Steven Spielberg did an AMAZING job directing this. It’s just... a masterpiece.

Perfectly cast, wonderfully acted, well-directed, and on top of all that, a beautiful score. Of course, some things about the shark's behavior are far-fetched, if not outright ludicrous, but as an action movie, it can't be beat.

This film needs no introduction. Spielberg classic it only gets better with age. I worried that the sharper image of Blu-ray might review all the primitive special effects used in the movie, but those fears proved unfounded.

The true mark of greatness in a motion picture is its rewatchability and this film is as great now as it was when released in theaters in 1975. John William's score is legendary and instantly recognizable. The music for this film is astounding and perfectly sets the mood of every scene. Though it was hyped as a horror movie it's really an adventure drama as 3 very different characters come together to hunt a great white shark that's terrorizing a fictional New England resort island of amity. All the actors were fantastic from Roy Schieder in the lead role as police chief Brodie to Murray Hamilton as the smarmy mayor who only see's $ and not public saftey. Dreyfuss was the weak link of the 3 leads, but,he actually did pretty good in this as Matt Hooper the oceanographic institute shark expert brought in by Brodie to verify the obvious. It is now that I mention what makes this movie great and not just very good,Robert Shaw as Quint. His character is larger than life and he dominates every scene he's in,it is a performance so grand so mesmerizing and ultimately so memorable that I often forgot about the shark.lol There is a scene in this film near the end, that imo, remains both magical and heartbreaking and I'm referring to the USS Indianapolis speech Quint gives explaining to Brodie and Hooper(and the audience)the real life events of its sinking and the gruesome week long shark attacks that occurred to the men in the ocean. It is the films scariest moment,it involves no gore,no jump scares,or cgi effects, simply a great actor delivering the greatest monologue in cinema history. I don't know what histories greatest film is,its a subjective judgement but, clearly Jaws is amongst them.

I bought this movie because I had seen it as a child and it reminded me of my childhood and being at the beach all the time with my family. This movie is so full of action and jump out of your seat suspense. I love it.

This movie was well worth the money! "Jaws" is and will always be one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Few directors of the time could have topped the cinematographic strategy Steven Spielberg used to make this film work so perfectly as a horror movie. Already owning the 30th Anniversary DVD edition, but having worn the disc out, I knew I had to buy the Blu-Ray with my Best Buy gift card. Immediately from the start, the picture was incredibly restored to make it look like the movie was 15 years younger. The film focuses on a giant great white shark wreaking havoc on a humble New England town, and when the mayor continuously ignores Police Chief Martin Brody and marine biologist Matt Hooper's pleas to close the beaches, they are forced to take matters into their own hands, hiring a shark hunter named Quint and setting out together to kill the beast before it strikes again. Roy Scheider does a masterful job portraying the authority, and sometimes vulnerability, that is Chief Brody, as he is challenged again and again on his choice to close the beaches, even knowing that doing so might cripple the town's economy. Richard Dreyfuss brings comic relief as the wise-cracking, yet serious Hooper, and his constant bickering and butting heads with Quint adds to the comic relief. But Robert Shaw as Quint is the stand-alone performance of the movie. Though Quint seems mysterious and reclusive throughout the first half of the film, he becomes arguably the most likeable character during the second half, where the trio spend days at sea hunting down the shark. His chilling monologue on his experiences with sharks when he served on the USA Indianapolis during World War II still remains one of the most classic, memorable monologues in cinema history. His eventual descent into Ahab-like madness adds to his character as he becomes increasingly obsessed to kill the shark by any means necessary, and is perhaps Robert Shaw 's career-defining film role. My one downside to this Blu-Ray is the new 7.1 Audio specifically created for this edition. Though the dialogue and music is enhanced and crystal-clear, many of the original sound effects are replaced by over-the-top, sometimes cheesy sounds. For example, after the USS Indianapolis scene, when the shark attacks the boat, the sounds of a hard object crashing into the wooden hull are replaced by what sounds like record scratching. Overall, this is something I would definitely recommend for any fan of the movie. It's still the classic 1975 classic that terrified audiences to go into the water, and 38 years later, still does.
